Palette 2 gets a second chance - behind the scenes

Dear Patrons,

I've been testing the Palette 2 'S' upgrade kit non stop over the last few days to see if it makes the product more reliable than before. My experience was pretty consistent with what I saw on their forums, where half of the users were nailing awesome prints and the other half were getting garbled garbage.

The verdict so far: the colour sync seems much improved, so most of my failures are coming from brittle filament splices snapping. In this case it's just like when filament runs out on a regular print. The printer keeps going through the motions unaware.

The dreaded splice tuning is coming now and the video will be out later in the week.

Thanks all for your support. Stay home and stay safe.

Michael

Palette 2 gets a second chance - behind the scenes

Unfortunately I don't have any access there. I think you would have to go through Patreon tech support.

Tried to change my email address in my Patreon profile settings. Saved changes entered password but email is still the same.

I saw it in the menu but I didn't know what it was. I'll read into it, thanks.

I have a Palette 2 but haven't upgraded yet. Been thinking about it, so I'm definitely curious about your results. Have you tried "endurance mode"? I think it's supposed to make the splices stronger.

Great info Michael. Looking forward to seeing the improved results now you've got better splices. Cheers, JAYTEE

It was your video that made me order the S upgrade kit. It's been sitting here a while.

Splice tuning seems to have gone well. 3,-1, 3 for the record. I can now bend the splices back on themselves without them snapping. I'm doing the transforming cube again but bigger.

You can use it as a filament runout sensor of sorts where the filament is automatically changed to a new spool once it runs out.

Very exciting!

I would like a very simple "splice only" model so I could splice together all of those extra end of spool filament lengths that I end up throwing away when I accumulate too many.

I hope you're able to get it working and reliable. It's SUCH a neat machine to play with!
