Creality K2 Plus Patreon preview
Added 2025-02-14 05:01:51 +0000 UTCDuring my break, I made sure to get testing for this underway. Then all of the Bambu drama happened, so a test on an alternative will be timely.
Here is an exclusive behind the scenes video of my testing so far. It prints PLA really well, and will do PETG and ASA well with an appropriate bed. TPU was not so hot.
In some ways it's a really weird printer. It's desperately trying to look and feel like a Bambu, just it has Klipper under the skin. You can load a Fluidd web interface or use the device tab on Creality Print, their OrcaSlicer fork. As the video shows, there's lots of little quirks and gaps in polish, but I think many people will still be tempted for the size and price point.
Next is CMS testing to try multi colour.

Nice preview Michael! As Bambu is still delaying the launch of larger printers I am looking for an alternative. Still have a Voron 2.4 R2 kit in 350x350 that needs to assembled, I also have a Sovol SV08 which does the job so far pretty flawlessly. I was hopping this printer would be the “print everything without problems” alternative I’ve been waiting for, but as it seems I need to wait a bit longer. It’s a pitty that no ones comes up with an alternative to bambu on the same level of quality and easiness. So far my X1C has never failed any print which makes it my number one workhorse, but for some jobs it is simply too tiny.

It keeps putting me on the sign up page. I've signed in over and over. I've deleted my cache and cookies and I'm still in a loop. Very frustrating
