January 2024 Update :O !!

Ahoyhoy, long time no see!

Last year kinda sucked, I’ll readily admit that, but I found out 2024 is the Year of the Dragon and I can’t be shit on the Year of the Dragon now can I? So after a few days break to play some games and spend some time with my family, I’m gonna get crackin’ and start pumping out videos again. Below details what I have planned and what I’m thinkin’ about doing in the near future :O

CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS:

• Top 10 Games of 2023: My media thread on Twitter is 176 entries strong and trying to rank all of that was gonna be a lot of effort for little return so this year I’m just sticking to a top 10 again, though at least this year I have 10 games from 2023 to actually talk about!
• Rock Revolution: I haven’t done a regular review for a good while and this will likely be my first! I’ve been dying to talk about more plastic instrument games so the obvious choice was to talk about one of the worst ones lmao
• Forgotten PS1 Racing Games: this one keeps getting put on hold for other projects oops but it’s almost entirely scripted and even partially edited. Really excited for this one and hopefully it sets a blueprint for a format that I would like to return to every now and then. Yes I will be talking about Hooters Road Trip
• The big one: EVERY MARIO KART COURSE RANKED… or whatever it ends up being called cause that’s a bit too similar to Square Eyed Jak’s one but YEAH. This is likely a ways off yet as I’m still scripting it and editing for 172 entries is going to be hell but I’m really excited for this one! I also have other plans for similar ranking videos but mmmmmmm we’ll see.
• oh also there was a Q&A vid I never finished huh

PLANNED:

• Dragon Quest VIII. It’s only right that I talk about my favourite game of all time at SOME point. Also? Final Fantasy X. I’d love to talk about that without the sin/win counter hovering over my head
• Something Forza Horizon related. I’m wondering if I wanna do seperate reviews for each or make one big retrospective?
• I wanna talk about more platformers but I dunno WHAT,,
• Fortnite Festival. Yes I wanna talk about Fortnite on the channel. No I don’t believe it either. I’m waiting to see how the mode turns out after a few months of updates (including instrument support apparently!) before I tackle it

OTHER THOUGHTS AND THINGS

• For all this planning, Racclog doesn’t seem to fit in anywhere. As much fun as I’ve had with it, my brain tricks me into thinking that these lower effort videos take the same amount of effort as bugger ones, hence why they come out so infrequently (that, plus potential mental health stuff and current family issues which are draining me a little bit more than I would like, which should be slowing down soon). For the time being, I think I’m gonna shelve the series while I focus on the bigger stuff that I’d rather be working on - I only have so much energy and I’d rather dedicate that to Forgotten Racing Games and a DQVIII video instead, y’know?
• New talksprites coming soon, most likely not before the Top 10 of 2023 video but hopefully before whatever comes after that. Remy’s design is a lot better and a bit more readable now, and part of me is glad I lost almost all the old talksprites because they got a stupid football head smh
• In the event I don’t continue with Racclog, I wonder if that’d make a better channel name than RemyRaccoon? Hrm. Just a thought!
• Considering breaking the Patreon down to just one tier. I don’t really consider five bucks for ad-free uploads to be a valuable incentive, so I’d rather there just be one tier and then people can pledge however much they want. I’m also not sure if I’ll continue reading out patron names at the end of videos in the future, as due to my recording setup it’s either something I have to go out of my way to do the day before uploading (which is really hard to do with two housemates), or record earlier and potentially miss names of people that pledge afterward. Maybe in big videos like the rankings or something? At least? I’d be okay with doing them every now and then, it just halts the video making process a bit when it’s done on EVERY video.
• I’m not sure if this will ever go anywhere, but I’ve also considered written reviews and opinion pieces a few times? I like writing reviews but I don’t always have the time or energy to turn them into videos, so this would be a happy compromise. Patreon timed exclusive or something? We shall see…

There’s some other stuff cooking in my brain that I’m not ready to reveal just yet, but safe to say that I got lots of stuff planned and (at least right now, anyway) the energy and resolve to follow through. Like I said, it’s the Year of the Dragon, and I fuckin love dragons (if a raccoon wasn’t the face of my channel, a dragon totally would be), so 2024 HAS to be good and I WILL make it so >:3
