Hey there! Auden here.
I have an extra special thank you today for all of you who've helped me fund my games, whether that's through buying my games or through supporting me here! Really, I can't thank you enough.
I'll start with the bad news - Re.Alice, the logo artist I'd hired to create logos for several projects including Find Love or Die Trying: Til Death Do Us Part and Familegion, has ghosted me entirely after taking their fee. While this is upsetting and could have been a significant blow to each project, your support has made it so that I'm able to continue development relatively unfazed.
Thank you so much, and I'll continue to work hard through any obstacle!
I'll also take precautions to prevent this scenario from happening again.
Now, on to the rest of the update!
Find Love or Die Trying Sequel
Art for the Find Love or Die Trying sequel is over 50% complete! At this rate, I'm optimistic it'll be complete in the next 2-3 months.
Alpha Testing is 50% complete! This is likely going to wrap up next month, as not all art is needed to be completed for this level of testing.
Translation is paused - waiting till Alpha Testing is complete.
When the Art, Translation, and Final Testing is done, we'll be good to release! I'm so excited, I can't wait for you to see what happens next!
Familegion & the Nintendo Porting Pitch Project
Lascal's debut project, Familegion, started as her way to get her start in game art and writing, and I saw it as a fun chance to learn more about how I can work with others! After all, it's my goal to run a successful game studio - I need to figure out how to work with others at the highest level if I want that to succeed.
Development was smooth, with Alpha Testing being 100% complete as of this month! We're now in a good position to translate the game into other languages (TBD), or even release the game.
Instead of moving straight to release, we're aiming to pitch Familegion to Nintendo to gain access to the Nintendo devkit (for porting & developing), as we think it's family-friendly art style and greater focus on gameplay will do better than the original Find Love or Die Trying.
I'm expecting to see how the pitch goes by some time next month - we'll let you know how things go, and if we need to adjust the release plan! It would be tremendous if we succeed. Fingers crossed!
New Game Project and Thinking like a Studio
For the first time ever, I've got a teammate as passionate as I am about bringing a great game to life and improving as an artist! It's incredibly exciting and motivating - I've wanted this since I started working on Find Love or Die Trying as a solo dev in 2019.
We've just selected the next project we'll be working on together for at least the next year - it's too early to show what we've been working on, but if you like unique storylines like Find Love or Die Trying, I think you'll love it as much we do!
Now that I have a team, I find myself thinking about how best to spotlight my teammate's efforts, set ourselves up for success, and making sure they're engaged rather than just hustling as hard as I can as a solo dev. It's been an interesting process, and opened up new kinds of thinking. For example, how should we handle social media, now that it's not just me? How do we want people to see us? How do we set ourselves all up for long-term success?
I don't have all the answers right now, but I'm excited to find out. I feel better than ever about the future, and you've been a big part of that! Thank you so much.
End of Update
It's been an incredible month, and thank you for your part in making it that way!
Let me know what you think in the comments - it's always great to hear from you!
See you next time,
