HBO's Last of Us Update - No. 1

Heya! Thanks for the Support folks!
Here's the first update for the upcoming video on HBO's adaptation of TLOU!
(Before we get started, Joe Pera video rewards will be sent out today!)

What's it About?
The title will be along the lines of 'HBO's The Last of Us Complaints are Trash', and I'll essentially arguing against these 3 points I've seen to some extent.

• The Last of Us being 'woke' makes it worse
• There should've been more zombies in the show
• The show is pointless if you've already played the game.

I dismantle these complaints by labelling them as 'misguided opinions'. And I say this because these complaints aren't engaging with what the show is trying to offer. Instead, these opinions are (at worst) too focused on their preconceived idea of what they were expecting from the show.

I then explore the improvements and drawbacks backs of the adaptation from the original story, and thankfully there are more ups than downs!

SPOILER ALERT ABOUT MY OPINION
I prefer the show over the game. And I think the show is worth watching even if you already played the game.

I think it handles it's narrative and use of the medium much better. I could go into it now but I'll save it for the video. 

Now regarding the length of the video, the script seems to be around 5000-5500 words long, which may equal to about a 25-30 minute video. And as far as art direction of the video, I'd like to incorporate more live action filming. Since I will be covering the transition from game to show, animation to live action, I think it'd be neat to try out something like that for the video. But we'll see how that works out.

I'm currently on the second draft of the video, and I feel like it's pretty close to completion. It'll probably be done sometime this week alongside me starting the recording process.

And for those wondering, I haven't played TLOU Part II yet. I plan playing it later today though once it gets in the mail. Will I make a video about it? Maybe, just depends on how I feel about it when I'm done with it. I'm well aware of the distaste the sequel has gotten, and have been spoiled about certain things (the ending + a certain death). But beyond those things I'm mostly blind on the specifics of the game, so I'm eager to experience that myself! Hopefully approaching this sequel years after the hate can give me a more even handed mindset.

General Patreon Updates

Tipper Tier has been changed.
Due to how Patreon is set up, a large 33% chunk of what gets donated to me via the Tipper tier ends up going to Patreon instead of me due to processing fees. It stinks. And because of these fees (and inflation), it's been advised by Patreon to raise my lowest tier, and it's been recommended to raise it to be at least $5. Unfortunately though I already have a tier with that price tag, and that's the Value Meal tier, and I feel $5 seems a bit much for the lowest tier for what I'm offering. So I instead did a happy middle ground, where the new tipper tier will be $3. It feels like a fair enough price for the tier benefits as opposed the $5 recommendations that Patreon is recommending.

For currently existing Tipper Patrons, you guys will stay only be tipping $1! Y'all came in when the Patreon was in it's infancy and when I was figuring out stuff, and I greatly appreciate your support! So I wanna still honor that support. The old tipper tier will be renamed to 'Legacy Tippers' while co-existing beside a new Tipper tier with the new price. The Legacy Tipper tier will also have limited slots of 100, to currently the reflect the amount of tippers that are present as I write this.
(Was about to rename it to the 'The Day One 100' but it's a bit much I think. Sounds nifty though!)

But yeah! That's the biggest change to my Patreon on this post.
