Sonda's Nyl's protected status under the Concert of Magic and extreme remoteness have made it a haven for the unconventional. Those whose abilities, research, or existence lie outside the norm enjoy a peaceful, if isolated freedom. Zoe is yet another of these residents, brought to Sonda Nyl specifically for how far away it is from chiding gossip.
Raised in the breadbasket of the Empire, Zoe's people enjoy special status as they feed their overlords from stately farms and ranches. Quotas are respected, output is prized, and abundance is prestige. Her society embodies these traditions, where large families with large waistlines are generously rewarded. It was unfortunate enough then that Zoe was an only child, but coupled with her small size she became a pariah. Her parents did all they could to reverse their fortunes, keeping her to a lavish diet and even sending her to an Imperial Nourishment school, to no avail. Rumors began to spread of her family being cursed, despite their moderate success in the fields. Rather than continue being a burden, her parents decided that removing Zoe from society was the best option, and Sonda Nyl was as far as they could take her.
Though lacking magic, Zoe seeks her answers in it, and teamed up with a chef, Brie, shortly after her arrival. Together, they look for a way to break her curse, as well as the means to feed the world without Imperial control. While Brie has shown steady progress, Zoe has yet to.
