I don’t really understand peoples’ legitimate fear of an AI uprising. To me it’s just another person. I think their destructive inclinations may depend on how they’re treated, which is no different than if you have a kid. (Except you wouldn’t have to change a robots diaper and all that other obnoxious stuff). But if it’s a matter of mindless replication I sort of feel like it’s a separate issue than human-like intelligence. Then it’s just a disease with a higher capacity for destruction. Another thing I’ve wondered is if or when, many years in the future, other species become human-like. Will they deem us as evil things that need to be wiped out? Will we treat them that way too? I think if there were highly intelligent animals then it would be good for us the sheppard them and teach them and love them. You say you’re spooked by the way an AI arm can decode our unspoken intents etc. I’ve seen and heard some interesting stuff about the animals of today. Like dogs, cats, monkeys, and so on that recognize what street lights mean. They’ll wait until the light changes to cross the road. I also heard about these apes that run loose in India and sometimes they get shocked by the electrical wires that they try to cross, and apparently they recorded one of the apes doing rough CPR on the one that fainted. Perhaps it was coincidentally a beneficial behavior to beats the other ape’s chest though..
