You can still stay a $5 patron and get all the shows, your not losing anything by staying at $5 tier the $10 tier just lets you support more if you want to and gives a couple extra perks but no extra shows. Idk why so many people are upset especially since they said from the very beginning they might change it.

I'm kinda conflicted. I don't want to say "they're not allowed to make more money", but i liked the idea of just a 5$ patron as a way to support them and know that i'm getting everything. Feels like now there's anoterlayer of "haves and have nots" where i'm pressured to give more money. If they want more ways to make money i'd prefer them to come out with merch which i'd love to buy, but i might just take off my patreon for a little while.

You told us the paywall was in service of having simplest possible monetization model. $5 for everything. That was the deal. Now it's just a standard patreon, only unlike everyone else on the platform, you lock half the content behind a paywall.

It's obvious why some patrons are jumping ship. From the first shows patrons were promised to get "everything" for only 1 tier that was $5. It was a great idea and actually got me to become a patron because it was reasonable and I really enjoy the show. Now a 2nd tier has come out and completely contradicts what was said before. I get that the 2nd tier simply offers more than the 1st tier, but it has already been proven that DFF will go back on its word. It's only a matter of time before new tiers are added and perks are stripped from lower tiers and put into higher ones. I'm staying a patron because I enjoy the show and the perks are still worth it to me, but as soon as that first tier gets touched or more shows are given to the higher tiers I'm done. Not that my one patron matters that much but seeing how quickly patrons left just because a new tier was added, I would imagine that many will leave when perks get removed from the first tier. I really want to believe that it stops here but I know better.

The one tier was just a lie to bring people in, now the fun really begins.

And I don’t really like giving my money away unless I know it’s really worth it. I will be removing after 1 month if it has not changed. Your are going to lose patrons who subscribed due to the simplicity of your patreon. I loved the whole "$5 for everything, simple, straightforward" plan, and so did a lot of other people. This is going to lose patrons, and cost you new ones. A reason a lot of us, including me, signed up in the first place was because, hey, $5 for everything, cool, what a simple patreon. But now people will see different tiers and be like, eh, I dunno, alt-tab over to Facebook and forget they were even considering being a patron. I understand that the new tier offers more content, but you shouldn't look at this as "we're offering you more", because how it really comes across to your patrons is "we're advertising to you trying to SELL you more", and that flies in the face of what I thought was a very clever patreon plan. Just my thoughts. I want to see this podcast succeed, and it makes me sad to watch you guys lose patrons over what I think was a bad business move. Simplicity is the name of the game, fellas. The less buttons people have to click, the less choices they have to make, the easier it is for them to sign up and remain patrons.

Not a fan of this change. By only having one tier, everyone here feels included and like we're all part of the DFF family...Honestly, adding a second tier (that I'm assuming a lot of us can't afford) makes this Patreon less appealing and strips your Patreon of it's uniqueness. I never considered stopping my patronage till I saw this update...I still won't be stopping it but I hope this isn't something you guys stick with.
