PESSIMIST PRODUCTIONS

Damn one of the best episodes too.

William Thompson

Private video no permission to watch it says

CraftyAndy

I remember, when I was in 3rd or 4th grade we had a class during the day that was basically 'whatever the teacher wanted to do that day' and one day the entire period was spent showing us videos about the Witch Trials and talking to us about how easily a kid's memory can be tricked by leading questions (that was the day I learned about the concept of leading questions). I think it clear the teachers were reacting to the Satanic Panic (since this was in the 80s) and trying to make sure we didn't fall victim to it.

Jack of Tears

Funnily enough that army dork became infamous later on for something entirely different. He lead psychological operations as a lt conoel and published a book called 'mind war'.

John Smith

Rewatching this I find it funny how you guys can't believe that everyone went along with the obviously bullshit statistic being perpetuated by the government and on the news, but you actively participate in the modern day equivalent.

John Smith

I like to call him Summary Scotty

Daniel Kelleher

14:05 scotty is so fucking annoying. shut the fuck up scotty.

Omar

scotty loves to jump in and restate whats already been said in a long boring lecture. scotty should only talk when he has something to add.

Omar

Aron Ra also has a well-researched YT video on the Satanic Panic. And he has a cool accent.

Martin Duplessis

Power Of Seth ! Power Of Seth!

Martin Duplessis

It's sad we live in a world where we repeat the same mistakes and good people are punished for it. This war of constant belief over evidence is never ending, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't keep fighting back for reason and evidence.

Marcus Campbell

As a Satanist, this shit is both offensive and completely hilarious.

Realzodiackiller

year of the snitch

Liam Snider

So weird to see a genuine smile from Cheejay

Very interesting, I need to check out that documentary! Thanks!

More Christian content - so old and weak FRY ISLAM you cowards!

TeaAndBiscuits

This sounds super interesting, that being said though it's probably pretty fucking hard to bring out the comedy element of the show if it was focused on lynchings. Then again, they've done that for all sorts of topics so why not this? I say DFF: Lynch Mobs has to happen!

PosterNutbag

Hey I just went to the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum and holy shit, the amount of lynchings in this state alone is crazy. Can you guys do an episode on US lynchings? That would definitely stir the shit pot and be an interestingly morbid episode.

High Fructose Cum Syrup

I had that one time. After that Patreon stayed quiet

I'm kind of disappointed by how one-sided Paul was in discussing the West Memphis 3 and how he just regurgitated all the arguments used in their favor and didn't even know what state it happened in. For the record: Blood was found at the crime scene. All over it. There was more evidence than just "they liked heavy metal." Damien Echols had a long history of mental illness and was alleged to have done violent acts to animals in the past. Jessie was not questioned for anything close to "20 hours," more like 2, and he was given a legal counsel. He confessed multiple times even when his lawyer begged him not to. A murder weapon, a knife, was found. Multiple people including Damien's ex-girlfriend testified that it was his. The "stepfather" Paul mentions is Terry Hobbs. He was painted as the culprit by the documentary West of Memphis. While the other stories about him don't exactly paint him as an upstanding citizen, it's also a massive stretch to say he killed the boys. The smoking gun provided in the documentary is a now-convicted child molester saying that he heard someone else say that they heard a relative of Terry's say he killed the boys. John Mark Byers, a father of one of the other boys, was previously a suspect by WM3 supporters until he began to proclaim the WM3's innocence. Then the target very conveniently shifted away from him. I am not an "anti" and I do not safely say the WM3 are guilty, but the case isn't nearly as cut and dry as Paul and TJ made it seem. Do I think Satanism was involved? Fuck no. But the way the guys covered the case was extremely disappointing to me because they just threw everything in the very biased documentaries back at us. It felt sadly hypocritical at the end of this episode for Paul to embellish everything he's heard instead of delving into the truth. I'd like to see a DFF just about the West Memphis 3 where the guys dive into all the facts and make their own conclusions. Perhaps they'll see that it's not so black and white. More about the case against the 3: https://thoughtcatalog.com/eric-redding/2016/09/all-the-evidence-that-shows-why-the-notorious-west-memphis-three-have-probably-gotten-away-with-murder/ When it comes to the campaign for the WM3, don't buy into the hype. Stay skeptical.

Great episode guys! I was around that time during the Satanic panic in the midwest and it was rife with paranoia and suspicion. At that time between 1990 and 1994 I had purchased not only the Satanic Bible but the Necrinomicon because I was simply curious. I wanted to know why people feared that stuff so much. My classmates caught wind of that I was reading that literature and accused me of witchcraft when I was just intellectually curious. It lead to me being ostracized in high school partly due to my curiosities. In reality reading those 2 books helped me move towards the path of atheism. Thank you for doing this episode. DFF just keeps getting better and better!

Lazy Utilitarianism

I mean you can minimize the influence of religion in the United States at that time, but up until 2008 about 80% of adults identified as Christian and 75% as of 2015 (Gallup). A majority of the world 100% believe in this stuff, it's huge in rural S. American communities that were influenced by Catholicism.

YOU SAY GOD AND I SAY SAY10

Guillermo

m.s.13 is the closest and scariest thing that comes close to satanic rituals and there nothing fascinating about it . Just google it

victor rodriguez

This topic needs a sequel or two. There's a lot of material that would make great episodes.

Furcifer

Joke's on you PAUL. I've got 10 girls eating my ass RIGHT NOW. I don't have to go to LA to pull girls either, they come to me. And yeah I watch DFF while they're here. It's not like I'd let 10 measly women distract me. I've got hundreds more on the backlog anyway, bitch.

Billy Goate

This is such an interesting topic, and it's hard to believe people were so stupid. I remember being in school in the late 80's and early 90s and hearing about this shit, and adults literally being terrified their children would be kidnapped and sacrificed. Unfortunately, after this shit was disproved, another bullshit claim of abuse spread throughout the country, BY THE SAME 3 PEDIATRICIANS who started this satanic nonsense, and they called it "Shaken Baby Syndrome." Watch the documentary on amazon prime called "The Syndrome." It goes into detail about the satanic ritual abuse and how that morphed into shaken baby syndrome, and how thousands of innocent people are put in prison for "murdering" their children. If you have a newborn, and you go the the ER for whatever, you better pray that child doesnt have something going on with him or her that happens to show the "3 symptoms of shaken baby syndrome." If the child has those symptoms you will be arrested and prosecuted. Medical science today shows this syndrome doesnt exist, but of courser a powerful lobby has been created for it, and the bullshit continues to this day, despite a team of doctors trying to educate people. That same team of doctors also goes around and testifies for the people who are being charged with these bullshit crimes. Fuck our society, we never learn, and we let fear govern our logical faculties.

Clyde Frog

I hope they talk about the Dungeons and Dragons scare. Cause nothings more concerning than a game made for 12 year olds.

Little_Hollow

YAY MORE DFF, just a few days without TJ and the guys is too much!

DoomKid

Ah, a subject close to my heart as a long time gamer.
