A Very Important Update

As many of you are aware, the SAG-AFTRA has gone on strike with the WGA to demand better wages and overall working conditions. Here at the House of Cinema podcast, we stand in complete solidarity with the actors and writers. 

But how can we? There's a lot of discussion right now on the internet of what we can and cannot do. It's been made fairly clear by SAG-AFTRA that they frown upon any paid and unpaid reviews on movies from struck companies. That includes new and to some extent old. I don't believe we would get in trouble per se talking about older movies, but ethically, is that the right thing to do? Ultimately, we believe it is not. 

So how do we, a  podcast dedicated to movies, continue to operate during the strike? We do the same thing that I've sort of done on TikTok...we pivot. Here are some temporary changes:

House of Et Cetera

This will be the new public podcast episodes. Episodes will range from talking about the strike to drafting junk foods. Guests will join, it will be an area to talk about whatever the heart (patron's desire). 

House of Anime

Anime is not affected by the strike! We all have dabbled in Anime here and there but not extensively.  And we thought the best way to launch this series is to talk about an anime that has had a stranglehold on the community for the past 5 years or so. So yes, we will be reviewing and discussing Attack on Titan. We are aiming to do 5 anime episode=1 podcast episode. We'll get the details hammered out shortly and let yall know! We are so excited to embark on this quest. I am caught up, Sydney has never watched and Claira has watched a good amount, so there will be an array of different opinions and reactions. (PLEASE NO SPOILER TALK)]

House of Gaming

The last House is House of Gaming! In this house, the plan is to play the chosen game on stream for an hour and then we will release a podcast episode on that hour the following week. Our likes, dislikes, predictions and of course, intrusive thoughts. Very similar to movie reviews, but we get to play the game on stream and talk about reactions after! The VOD of the stream will always be uploaded to Patreon for anyone who misses the stream. The first game we are playing is Detroit: Become Human. A game that I have personally never played but have heard its really good?? I am excited for all of us to dive in. 

FINAL BUT MOST IMPORTANT UPDATE

We here at the House of Cinema podcast completely understand that many of you, if not all of you, subscribed to the Patreon to hear discussions about movies. We love film, we love talking about film, but this is a historic moment in time and we feel that standing in solidarity as much as we can with the Actors and Writers is far more important than discussing movies. But again, you all paid for a service for movies. So please know, from the bottom of our hearts, there are no hard feelings or judgement if you decide to freeze or unsubscribe entirely. We appreciate your past, present, and future support. We will gladly resume our normal content once the strike ends and the SAG-AFTRA/WGA demands are met, but for now, this is the current state of the podcast. 

With that all said, we are still extremely excited to start on these new endeavors. Old episodes will not be erased and will still be available for all new and existing patrons.
