I was lucky enough to catch a screening that had a live Q&A with Scorsese afterwards, and he said that Leo was originally going to play Jesse Plemons’ character. They then realized that this story they wanted to tell was more about Ernest and Molly, which led Leo to suggest he play Ernest instead, and led to some intense script edits. Just wanted to share :) it was great listening to this episode on the drive home
