I've waited 80 years for this moment and its finally here. So to kick off the best month ever, Sydney and I discussed the AMAZING Arachnophobia, the definitive spider horror movie.

Resident bioethicist here! You brought up some interesting animal welfare/ethics issues that I keep thinking about. Like is it ethical to take spiders from their natural habitats knowing they won’t be able to return? What happens to them after? Are we sure bugs don’t have thoughts and feelings? Such cool things to think about and thanks for making yet another great episode!!

2024-02-29 00:39:17 +0000 UTCHello! Your resident Australian roomie is here to answer all your spider related questions. Yes Huntsman spiders are SUPER common here and they are HUGE and terrifying. I have seen ones bigger than the size of my hand and had one trapped in my car for weeks once! Huntsman spiders aren’t venomous and they eat flies and bugs so people will actually leave them alive in their house to get rid of their bug problem. I am petrified of spiders and growing up here I was always taught to shake out my shoes before I put them on and check my hats for those sneaky little guys. I am moving to Canada soon though so I shall be free of this everyday fear soon. Great episode guys and this movie BANGS.
