Is there something inherently wrong with wanting to maintain a society with a specific cultural identity? If somebody just honestly doesn't want the social and cultural make up of a nation to change, ie the japanese, is that inherently wrong. Is that racism? So what if it even is? That isn't an argument against the position.

Whoops I meant FOR CENTURIES. Banking conspiracies that exploit the wealth of foreign and domestic populations alike have been going on for over two hundred years, and the CIA has been orchestrating the toppling of foreign democratic governments to be exploited for corporate profit for like 80 years. If you ask me, if an Ecuadorian slave child from a banana plantation grew up to escape poverty, illegally immigrate to the US, literally and direcrly make an American lose their job, achieve citizenship by marrying in or something, then using a minor work injury to cheese the system into giving him lifetime disability payments and uses his marriage status to find tax loopholes and pay as little as humanly possible, then he moves his whole family here, and they all exclusively only spend money in insular community stores so hardly any of the money they earn ever goes back into the US economy, I'd say that's pretty fair! Not that fairness exists or means anything, but here's a kid who never had any freedom or liberty, grew up a slave, lived in poverty most of his life, and finally escaped it only to be treated like a second-class citizen by his new racist countrymen, all so we could have CHEAP BANANAS. I'm not even fucking joking. And so what, some fat ignorant fuck has to learn to actually budget instead of writing "$80/wk beer, $50/wk cigarettes, $10/wk subscription services, $200/wk fast food, $75/wk car payment, $35/wk phone bill...aw shoot, I won't be able to afford the new X-box when it comes out! THOSE GOD DAMN DIRTY MEXICANS DONE IT AGAIN!" or else he crashes and burns, gee whiz how sad. I'll play you a song on my 1 centimeter violin I keep next to my 1 millimeter violin for the American upper class next to my 1 nanometer violin for the billionaires. It's not the world's smallest violin, but fuck does all this whining look pathetic when we're right next door to Mexico and have such direct ties to island nations like Puerto Rico and Honduras. Ignorance isn't even the right word for it. People here complain about drinking Dasani water. What? Dasani water is clear, drinkable, filtered water with zero bacteria and zero lead in it. Shut the fuck up and refill it out of your stupid tap you spoiled cunt (unless you live in Flint, that's pretty fucked. The lines do start to get blurrier near the fringes, but I promise you the majority of people who complain about illegal immigration are not on poverty's doorstep by any fucking means. Idk man I agree with Paul, borders are a moronic and antiquated idea that only stifle the spread of information and ideas and cultures. We are very obviously moving in a deciscive direction, towards global unity, and trying to preserve borders is just an attempt to preserve the rickety status quo that has been siphoning all the wealth and resources up to the top for thousands of years

It definitely isn't racist to not want to compete with undocumented immigrants, but it becomes racist when ultimately the finger pointed isn't at corporate America for allowing these wanton violations of both liberty and common human decency just to save a few bucks, but at the immigrants themselves for wanting to escape poverty. And unfortunately the overlap is pretty massive between people who recognize the problem of illegal/undocumented immigration as one that could potentially jeopardize the already rickety foundations of their financial stability, and people who are genuinely either outright racist or openly bigoted toward foreign cultures and are at the very least pretty ignorant to the web of socioeconomic circumstances that lead to such widely varying cultures and standards of living. Especially in your area. That is, if not racist, certainly culturally ignorant. I also think the notion that someone living in actual poverty under constant threat of violence by giant drug cartels who have a stranglehold over every branch of government desperately sneaking into a hostile foreign country where everyone thinks you're both lazy and a job theif in an attempt to carve out a tiny slice of personal liberty with a $2/hr wage and no legal protections from the government at all is STEALING to be pretty fucking retarded. Yeah, sure, Americans have their problems. It sucks being stuck a wage-slave in a miserable, thankless job, swamped with bills and medical debt. But most Americans are still fat. Most of us watch TV every day. Most of us are lazy and entitled and, compared to most of the world both today and throughout all of human history, insanely wealthy. That there are billionaires who make even our lavish lifestyles look like true poverty does not make it so, and while cultural relativism does suggest such vastly disparate societies should not be so closely contrasted, it cannot be argued that a huge part of the reason Americans enjoy such spoiled lifestyles is because of the exploitation of those of foreign national origin and lower class. Both through continued outsourcing of domestic jobs and insourcing of forein labor as well as through directly meddling in the affairs of foreign (often democratic) governments so their countries' populations can be more easily exploited, the American people loudly and resoundingly state that they are willing to sacrifice the wellbeing of others in a vain and hopeless attempt to sate their own gluttony and their restless, programmed desire to comsume and be entertained. I say if I can eat a domino's pizza for $10, buy a bunch of bananas for $3, drive around in an 18mpg pickup truck because gas still only costs $2/gallon, fiddlefuck around on my iPhone (that COULD have cost fuckin $20 if not for sheer unadulterated corporate greed), bingewatch 6 seasons of Lost on my flat screen TV in my heated house drinking a beer at 7pm on a Monday night and still consider myself economically disadvantaged because a brown person might make me work an extra five seconds to earn the same wages for my next big mac and NOT be accused of stealing anything, to say that an undocumented immigrant fleeing economic or sociopolitical strife taking a job out of desperation because that same lazy American's greedy boss is willing to exploit him and hurt his domestic employees for money, is fucking stealing anything at all, even a job, is just absurd on the nose of it. And it's so sickeningly entitled and America-centric. Like you don't think there are other countries on the fucking planet besides the US? Not that anyone here gives a fuck but we've been literally terrorizing populations of innocent foreign people all over the planet FOR YEARS, but that's alright. Not a peep from anyone then, right? Nobody even fucking knows

The stance you took on Corbyn was really bad. There was a massive smear campaign against him and he actually did have a revolutionary plan to fix the UK. People who voted for Brexit chose it as the sole hill to die on in England. Scotland, Ireland and now Wales have voted to reject that or have our own referendum to leave the UK. Corbyn did get votes just not where he needed them most and his ideas are popular if the system wasn't so rigged he would currently be the Prime minister after the election with backing from 18 Green MPs.

Also, a lot if not most illegal immigrants don't come here through the southern border. They come here on work or travel visas and just don't leave when they're supposed to, and if we just say "OKAY, NO MORE IMMIGRANTS." They're still gonna get in.

I agree with 90% of this except the part where you claimed the average guy with a problem with illegals isn't a racist, while yeah.. they might be sympathetic if they've really lost their livelihood to an illegal immigrant, I can't agree that most of them aren't actually racist. Most of friends I used to have were rednecks, most of them are Trump supporters, most of them are overtly racist as fuck, even more so behind closed doors, and they're completely serious and I can't sympathize with racists, I just can't. But sure, if we can stop companies outsourcing jobs. That's great. If we can get farms and labor companies in the south to stop hiring and exploiting illegals that's great too, but how do you even begin to police that in it's entirety and what do you do with the illegals already here? I guess vet them based on how long they've been in the country and can prove it. Robbing someone of their livelihood and deporting them who got here illegally 15 years ago and owns a business and is a productive part of society is inhumane and stupid. There's been a few noteworthy cases of fathers and / or mothers being deported and their kids actually staying in the country because of anchor baby laws.

This is a great take TJ. I think it will resonate with people. there's a segment of conservatives/alt right who are concerned with not only undocumented immigration but immigration in general. I'm not against immigration at all personally. but this video got me thinking, should we just let anyone who hasn't committed a violent crime in? should there be some kind of annual quota? there would certainlly be a lot more people trying to immigrate here if it were suddenly made much easier, but idk. is there such a thing as too many?

You do realize that a massive amount of workload is being done by illegals because the legal american citizens don't want to do them? So in your case I hope you would want some sort of change in wages or something to make those jobs more appealing, because they are being done by the illegals.

Even if they come legally the wage will drop to whatever you set as minimum unless they come in slowly. Also want you to think about the climate change—overpopulation issue. If a country is continuously over populated, taking people from it enables it to continue.

I think this is one issue Democrats are dead wrong about. Automation and China aside, they undeniably drive wages down for the poorest classes in America. I also think we are enabling the population to grow out of control because many of the countries are at their caring capacity. And finally the conservatives are correct when they say taking away their honest workers hurts their nation. Rescuing the Jews fleeing Germany is a one time thing either a) we beat the Nazis or b) the Nazis kill all the Jews we don’t save. Compare to the cartel violence....I’m not seeing any reason why we won’t be having this same debate in 50 years....if we are going to help we need to actually solve the problem.

The problem with your stance is with the notion that 1/3 of people live from paycheck to paycheck because they earn too little and not because they are fiscally irresponsible. Even a lot of wealthy people go broke because they waste all that money away and that is the same for normal people. All the people I know who live from paycheck to paycheck tend to be the same way, they party, drink or gamble way too much for their salaries. The US is not a culture where a dollar means something, saving is not encouraged like in some other cultures. Instead of regulating the businesses to give these people more money, the culture of overspending and having 10 credit cards (credit cards are almost unheard of in Europe) needs to change. Maybe people in other countries don't actually have more money but they know how to spend it more wisely. Maybe some people need to spend some time living in poverty to learn how to spend money responsibly. Financial education is the key here, not simply stuffing more money in people's pockets. I know this might not be the most popular or agreeable view.

I would argue that most Americans who are racist against immigrants have been brainwashed by Rush Limbaugh and Fox News to believe that immigrants are the problem and not the wealthy elites that are destroying our country and the planet.

im not sure what your thought process is with the argument that its not racist for "workers" to call out the migrants for being so cheap. does it suck that they come and do the work for less money? yes well duh. BUT who is giving them the work and god so little money that they get? are they giving it to themself? or is it, like you say earlier the big corp, the businessowner or the individual? why is no there no rage towards them who make this shit possible in the first place? because its so much easier to point the finger and say, "yo its this brown fella over there thats fucking shit up for me" i mean.. yes to an extend.. who is making it possible? who is giving them the money? i think its a little lazy to only say "ya its the brown dudes, if they be gone it would be heaven for us here". big corp are just looking for every chance they get to fuck you over and get the rest of your shit dirt money until they cant suck you dry anymore. just my opinion fk me :)

Here in Sweden the Sweden Demokrats are getting bigger and bigger, they are left on a lot of issues. Immigration is not one of them, i am against immigration cause it has caused Sweden a lot of harm, 50% do not work and take social welfare (i am for that but there has to be a limit). Crime has gotten a increase (not so much but the media was underreporting a lot of it) and basically all of the social welfare programs have gotten strained by this, schools, hospitals, Psyciatriwards (where i work) and there are a lot of problems cause of immigration. I am for immigration but think that a country of the size of California got a population increase of about 15 percent in 10 years with the natural increase. Most of them are adult males that the media lied that they were children, most of them do not have an education and the vast amout of them do not work and are on welfere. What the conservitard in America are complaining about in the US is actually happening in Sweden (not 100% percent but still). We have a ton of famus cases where and IRANIAN GENERAL WAS ON WELFARE! A man that has been on welfare for 6 years and has 11 kids is getting around 5000 dollars each month. I wish they were here and taking jobs from us! Thats why i am against immigration here is Sweden, at least for 10 years, were we kick criminals out, encourage them to go back to thier countries and figure out that Sweden has enough fucking people. Then we can start taking in other people who deserv to be here.

Thank you for sharing this perspective. I hope you make this video or something like it public. Sanders has been my concept of a perfect candidate, at least policy-wise, precisely because of this relatively unique platform you describe. I think more Americans than people realize share our views on the matter, though the establishment and media has long tried to shoehorn everyone into their conception of what left and right are supposed to look like precisely because it serves corporate interests and more generally the interests of the power brokers in our business and political establishments.

I think protectionism in trade is one of the worst ideas consistently put forward by Social Democrats. While it is sometimes warnented to protect against unfair trade practices it is generally harmful to the overall economy in ways that aren't immediately apparent.
It may improve conditions in one sector only to harm another. See how Trump's steel & aluminum tariffs helped the steel industry but harmed everything else that uses steel as an input. Or it may just reduce the overall competitiveness of an economy on a global scale and drive down economic growth and investment over the long term. You need to HAVE the economic growth, prosperity, and wealth before you can tax it and spread it around.
The most successful Social Democratic nations in the world in the Nordic reigion actually have extremely low barriers to trade and are mostly EU member states (A massive trading bloc). In fact all have weighted mean tarriff rates at or below 3.1%.

In my opinion, if you're a legal immigrant you are very welcome. But if you're an illegal immigrant you should either go to prison (hence "illegal") either in the country you immigrated, or in the country of origin. Or you should be "shipped" back to the country of origin. I suppose there are nuances that I would have to make, but at least in a superficial opinion.

Interesting video. Here goes:
I'm actually on a first name basis (barely) with two known "alt right" figures. I've been pretty actively involved in that community since 2015. I'm also a fan of yours, and a patron, so take from that what you will. I have always avoided the "they took our jobs" argument against immigration for a couple of reasons.
First, most alt right youth tend to not actually be part of the lower working classes that would be most negatively affected by immigrants taking their jobs. Most of us are part of the middle class or the "fallen" middle class. This is why I laugh when the media portrays the typical alt right person as mr. "de tuk er jerbs!" My argument against immigration tends to be based more on holistic factors of life in a nation and what that means at the end of the day.
Additionally, I'm also someone who engages in economic debate quite a bit. The refrain from pro immigration economists is that immigration is good for the economy in the aggregate sense, to which I usually respond that a similar argument is used in favor of outsourcing and automation. At the end of the day, these things probably do make GDP, etc appear better. However, GDP isn't everything. And the whole idea that we become "better off" is suspect if you look beyond the economic aggregate data. Are we all really "better off" with mcmansions and a mcdonald's on every corner? I'm sure that makes GDP look better, but I'd argue that actually makes us worse off. Still, i'm curious how you, TJ, would respond to those who make the argument that immigration DOESN'T lower wages (they use this same argument for the illegal immigration that has been going on up until now, which is what you directly addressed as bad for wages). Just curious.
