If you want to invoke real change in regards to animal consumption in the US, I would advocate for people to reduce their consumption rather than eliminate. While I personally thing the climate crisis needs immediate and drastic action, I think that starting off a conversation with "all animal products gone," versus, "less animal products," will be badly received and immediately dismissed. If we want real tangible change we have to be willing to work with people's large egos.

I know TJ reads the comments, so I’ll just leave this here. Everything you said about factory farming is absolutely true. It’s inhumane, wasteful, environmentally harmful, and unsustainable. Words are cheap, action matters. If you actually disagree with factory farming, stop eating beef jerky, fast food burgers, sausage, eggs, and a hundred other products. The problem is due in large part to capitalism; we need to vote with the almighty dollar. I appreciate you guys are willing to speak out on the issue, but unless you change your diet, that’s all you’re doing.

Imo Pauls constant shaming of wealthy people who speak out against capitalism is not helpful. If these people simply gave away all their wealth it wouldn’t mean anything in the context of the overall system and they’d also lose their platform for which to spread these ideas. Essentially it’s the same as saying you must not care about the epidemic of homelessness because you don’t let them sleep on your couch. Or that you can’t talk about animal rights if you’re not 100% vegan. We need to move past this purity testing if we’re ever going to actually get anything done.

I know I am paranoid. But someone stealing my dog is why I never really socialized her and took her to a dog park to play with other dogs. She is a very gorgeous dog but is very friendly with humans and is very submissive on top of only 45lbs so it would be easy for someone to just pick her up and walk off with her if I wasn't paying attention. Now she's pretty antisocial (to other dogs) like her owner is with humans lol.

Being from North Dakota, I work with a lot of Native Americans. One of my Native co-workers didn't like that they removed the picture from the Land O Lakes shit. She thought it was stupid, and it had been around for so long. The thing that made me laugh the most was when she said, " Most Natives can't and don't eat butter due to being lactose intolerant, so this change is especially ironic." Pretty funny shit. So I work for people that have dementia. The thing that sucks is there is no death with dignity for dementia patients because who is to say that what you want as a dementia patient is what you would have wanted as a person with out it. I personally would never wish dementia on my worst enemy. If you get cancer at least you know who you were, who you are and who loves you. You don't feel alone and abandoned by your family (even when they visit you everyday) and baring extreme circumstances if you do its your own fault, but at least you have the chance to rectify those mistakes. Anyway you cannot write a will to say just let me die if I get this horrible disease. Most of the time people are left alive as shells of themselves by families that cannot let go. Do I blame them? Of course not. Some families accept that their loved one died many years before they actually do and that is equally sad because these are still people and live and love and laugh and do everything anybody else does. Obviously every person is different and dementia effects everybody differently, different types do different things. Some people forget everything, some only forget short term, some can hold on to some short term memory and know they are losing what they are and those people are to me the most horrifying. They know they are losing themselves and can do nothing about it. This isn't only and "old man" disease. The youngest person I served was 52. This is a terrifying thing that we as a society need to talk about. Look I love my people. I work for them, but I cannot wait for the day I am out of the job and dementia is cured. In other words, I don't want to continue to "live" if I get this disease. Let me go, give me beer and send me to the forest.

Interesting story about kim Jong un: His father and grandfather were dismissive of women in a traditional asian sort of way, while Un developed a different view of women. In fact, according to a chef who was kidnapped to make food for the kim family, Un never took advantage of the harem of women he was offered.
