The mosquito change is really really good. "Environmental groups" that have a problem with it are just following the knee-jerk reaction to "x species is being genetically modified to reproduce less" if it were almost any other animal they'd have a point, but mosquitoes literally have no good reason to exist scientifically. Mosquito experts are some of the strongest supporters on eradicating them as they've found they do not provide almost any benefit in the eco system. They do not kill animals enough to function as a predator and they're so insubstantial as food their predator's diet wouldn't even change if they weren't around.
