Then you get into the whole self awareness argument for human beings. The average person isn’t very aware of what they are doing to destroy them environment and in my opinion is not very self aware. Plants pumped out oxygen because they needed it for energy, we pump out CO2 because we need it for energy. There is a difference in plants and humans in there understanding of the ramifications of what they are doing, but I don’t think humans are exempt from natural ecological equilibrium processes. Humans are on a very large population boom in the present times that will probably we have potential but i have to agree with Paul. It is simply not true that humans are unique at wiping out other populations and throwing the ecology out of equilibrium. The most extreme non human example of this is when plants first evolved. Before plants, there was no oxygen in the atmosphere, and oxygen was toxic to all life on Earth at this time, so plants nearly wiped out the rest of life on this planet. Life adapted to this new conditions eventually, but it caused a mass extinction. Also, species will go over their population limits all the time, which throws the ecosystem out of equilibrium, depleting the rest of the resources in the ecosystem until the resources are depleted and the offending species population starves to death until they are at a more stable population. I think as humans, we will meet this fate eventually and are not exempt from the equilibrium laws that govern every other species whether we think we are or not.

I live in a super rural area and yesterday I had to go to Charlotte, NC which is the largest metropolitan area near me. It has always had a homelessness problem, but dude I abandoned ALL hope while I was there. I drove past one particular block that was entirely tents and makeshift shelters and then the tents just continued to spill over down one street for several hundred feet. I had never seen anything like it in my life. I know it’s like this in LA but I never thought I would see something like that here to this extent. There’s no reason that those people need to be sleeping on the street like they are. That city could easily afford to buy like RVs or campers that can sleep 4-6 people in each to quickly provide those people with shelter. Or like the buildings that mobile classrooms are made out of, buy 10 of those and fill them with cots and build a bathroom or two in each. It doesn’t have to be fancy or cool or even provide for all of their needs but these people are in crisis due to a global pandemic. Obviously the city can’t just instantly create homeless shelters but they could get creative and at least provide a way for these people have a safe place to sleep. But that costs money and doesn’t make anyone any money so we’ll probably never see something like that happen.

Whatever kid thought this is like 2000 makes me sad for our education system. Florida would have gone to Gore if a recount was completed; it wasn’t completed because the Supreme Court decided florida had no right to recount. This election is totally different, Biden is up by thousands of votes in swing states while bush was only up hundreds of votes in Florida. Only the fascist republicans would steal an election like they did in 2000.
