Grease Trap: 25 June 2021

Comments

I will NEVER get tired of that Grease Trap intro.

Ouch

Though I cant wait for Paul to get deep into the lore. There is so much more.

Restitutor Orbis

For the EMPRAH

Restitutor Orbis

Man Paul talking about 40k reminds me of when I first got into it. He is in for a ride.

Restitutor Orbis

Inquisitor Zego would have TJ turned into an Arco-Flagellant

Duke A. Déserix

Paul says that’s the conjuring 2 was good and wants me to take his movie taste seriously. That’s hilarious.

Carley Gillis

I seriously recommend a channel called Luetin09. He does lore videos for WH40K and is very thorough. Orks iz da badist n da strongest!!

Baltran Kennedy

Vin Diesel is a big time Warhammer 40k fan, he plays Blood Angels.

Graham Paterson

as a huge lore nerd myself paul's really watered down description of the imperium, and tj's dumb its a nzi shit

Scythian Weed Shaman

straight up sippin goo in the underhive

Scythian Weed Shaman

His vile, Slaaneshi heresy must be purged from the subsector.

PESSIMIST PRODUCTIONS

That sounds like a very TJ way to die, tbh.

Josh Jerome

Feels fucking dope that someone else loves something I am also passionate about.

The Corpse God

How do you really feel?

Jonathan Jones

Nerd!

Daniel

That sounds about right and explains why early WarCraft and StarCraft concepts put together resemble Warhammer. But I prefer Blizzard's take on these ideas, at least visually.

Even if you sold TJ on the idea of the Empire and the Inquisition you're going to lose him immediately to the sex and drugs of Slaanesh and he'll either become a Daemon-Prince of just excess and pleasure or get killed by a pink daemon lady/man with a giant tit and an even bigger crab claw arm. I'm not any better, I'd probably end up the same fucking way.

The Corpse God

Paul, Gaunt's Ghosts was where I got into Warhammer 40K. One of the coolest things was being able to read about the more mundane soldiers in the universe as they faced shit like Chaos daemons, Tyrannids, Eldar, and Orks. Obviously all the big Space Marines and what not are amazing and the giant ships and Titan combat are all exciting but that glimpse into regular Joe whoever the fuck's life as they gotta deal with Chaos is pretty fascinating on its own merits. Edit: Even my username and profile picture is Warhammer based. >.>;; Edit 2: The Emperor in 40K time is a corpse tethered to the Golden Throne from which he remains as a psychic force that fuels the Astronomicon, the beacon sort of like shipping lanes in the warp. The Horus Heresy is Warhammer 30K and shows how things have gotten to where they are and how the Emperor got fucked up and why the Eye of Terror - a rip into the Immaterium - exists. I'm totally not trying to be the "actually" person either, I am super genuinely in love with Warhammer. Nobody else I know is and Paul's passion is just exciting to see. The Horus Heresy is a million books long and explain everything but it is hard to get all of them and quite expensive so no real surprise nobody knows about it here. Also TJ is wrong about the Nazi aspect. The fascism that exists in Warhammer 40K is the direct result of the threat of the Warp which can manifest and kill everything and everyone. Outside of that you have aliens and shit like Tyrannids. That is why I found it fascinating - everything TJ says I agree with but in this context there is no other choice. The Emperor is the only thing that can protect against the Warp and faith in him is a literal defense against the Warp. It is a fucking nightmare hellscape and the best they can hope for at this point is space fascists who hold humanity together. But Paul is wrong - the Empire gave humanity they encountered a choice. They die or they join the Empire. Because if they don't join they are going to - in the eye of the Empire - will fall to chaos and be a genuine problem. And mortals who do heinous shit CAN become immortal daemon-princes if they are fucked up enough so there is a real threat to having other ideologies and shit. I know, I know, a complete nerd post and I'm even a little cringing at my own fandom but hey... Warhammer is worth looking like a nerd for.

The Corpse God

Warhammer 40K I think I read was inspired by Star Troops the OG stuff. Blizzard asked to make an MMO based on Warhammer Fantasy but was denied. They instead made Warcraft. Because of that I don't know whether Blizzard based Starcraft also on Star Troopers or more Warhammer 40K's universe since they clearly wanted to get involved in a Games Workshop project.

The Corpse God

I think the Warhammer and StarCraft/WarCraft were a result of one idea splitting up. That's the story I know. Something to look into in the future?
