The Devil = DFF #356

Mark Twain once said, we may not pay Satan reverence, for that would be indiscreet. But we can at least respect his talents. Let's give the devil his due tonight on DEEP FAT FRIED!

The Devil = DFF #356

Comments

I know it’s a new episode but I just joined and am just now watching this. I think an under appreciated depiction of the devil ( or at least a demon it could be either one) is Cadwallader from Twilight zone. He’s a great used car salesman type of devil

Lance Storm

HIM stands for H.is I.nfernal M.ajesty.

At my recent dig we dug up a Ba'al Hadad statue. Looked like a big, blue cheeto, truely Ba'al is the mightiest of smiting gods!

That being said, the show generally has a more light-hearted quality to it whereas I usually like more gritty drama. The "celestials" and their difficulty handling human emotions and concepts of justice, empathy, social obligation, etc sometimes gets a bit worn out. Characters sometimes seem needlessly conflicted or blind to certain truths. Alas, the writers are trying to sew drama I guess. I dunno.

Personally I enjoyed the show Lucifer. I'll admit it is definitely one of those formulaic shows where they follow the same plot pattern each episode, but each season kind of has tidbits of a meta plot that you uncover. The show itself criticizes the black and white view of justice, the seeming absolute righteousness of whoever has the biggest stick, the theoretical ability for immortals of any form to even operate on the same wavelength that average people do and how they reconcile this, and so on. The angel Michael as well as god are kind of portrayed as pretty messed up individuals. Selfish because they have everything. Good because they said they're good. Lucifer is portrayed as someone who tried to do what they personally and arbitrarily thought was good, getting told that they're bad and irredeemable, and half-heartedly filling the role of the supposed anti-righteous.

I was wondering when yall would do a DFF on me

Heather Squidz

It's weird Christians know all of the villains from the Bible but they don't know any of the good guys.

if anyone has watched as much Atheist Experience as i have, you will understand why people worship an evil, murderous god. they are afraid. many of them know about the whole slavery thing and nobody opposes it because they're afraid to question god. they are afraid of god's wrath and have a fear of hell. they ride that pascal's wager shit and just believe that the god they worship is the right one and he's not actually evil. even after matt dillahunty explains how god is a pos they refuse to change sides and will just accept that they too are pieces of shit for advocating for this monster. but lucifer will win in the end because he gave people free will. more and more people are coming out as atheists and soon everyone will see god for what he really is. lucifer may not get worshipped since atheists don't believe in him either but his whole goal was to dethrone god which is currently happening as more people see theists as just groups of crazy people. this god is stupid. he wrote his own downfall lmao what a dumbass moron. he could've just let lucifer have the throne and rule because he was probably a lot nicer before god pissed him off by sending him to hell thus, creating the tv show lucifer, and continuing the story because *SPOILER* *SPOILER* lucifer not only gets god's throne AND his kingdom of heaven but he becomes god!

One thing I noticed a couple of weeks ago is that the story of Lucifer has some similarities to the story of Prometheus (Greek Titan, not Alien Franchise). Both ignored orders, gave knowledge to Mankind, and ended up in places of eternal punishment.

William Hosford

To the many but to the faithful. Hero, prophet and saviour.

Darius Rose

-Lucifer is referred to as the Morning Star. Jesus is also commonly referred to as the Morning Star. -satan or ha-satan is translated as adversary or the accuser. In many "appearances" of satan in The Bible, it's not actually a recurring character, but rather just someone who opposes God. Ha-Satan refers to a unique character. -Lucifer in The Bible most likely refers to a king of Babylon, rather than demon or angel. -The common idea of Satan falling from heaven is another story taken from those pesky Caaananites, who not so conveniently for Christians share a lot of the same stories and characters in Abrahamic Mythologies, notably among them is Yahweh, who is a son of the almighty god El who gave Yahweh to the people of Israel to basically lead them (makes sense). This story is still present in The Bible itself, but translations often cover it up by interchanging unique names for each god and conflating them as one single being. How do Christians believe this shit? -The conflation of ha-satan and Lucifer and the serpent and so on came much later in history.

David

We covered Hell, not the devil specifically

T-Rx (DUBIUS)

Lucifer the TV show if lame as fuck. Everyone seems to like it though. I gave the first episode a try , and right at thr moment the guy with the English accent said "I'm Lucifer morning star" I cringed so hard and turned it off.

John Smith

Satan bless this fatty.

Wilhelm Frosch

I feel like y'all already did this episode a while ago.

Xenos Nassar

Those stats at the beginning make no sense at all. More people believe in satan than God? Who's answering these surveys?

John Smith

Awesome I was wondering if today’s episode would come at 2pm!

Watermelon

Surprised you guys hadn't done Satan yet

Who Else But Zane?

I hope yall included the devil being a seven headed dragon from revelations. Can't wait to watch.
