I’m late to the party telling mine, but I got grounded for an ENTIRE FUCKING YEAR. I am not exaggerating, and it was for the dumbest shit ever. I got bullied lots (youngest+smallest+nerd+glasses), and the kid who always picked on me was way bigger. My mom (single mom) tells me one day to stand up for myself and I actually took the advice, and shortly after the next time I was shoved to the floor in grade 5, I got white hot rage and picked up the first thing I opened my eyes to, a metal legged chair, and flung it across the room at the bully. I missed, but regardless every kid in the class made their way to the other side of the room and were clearly afraid when the teacher got back. I got suspended and in spite of being told to stand up for myself, apparently I took it too far. That resulted in a year long grounding where I had all toys, tv privileges and games/sleepovers banned. I was allowed to READ, for a year. Suffice to say I became pretty resentful for a long time and that sparked a rebellion and individual reliance.
