The link doesn't work anymore.

Josh Lucas

make a part 2 or do another type of sports episode.

Blake Iannelli

time for a WCW ep

c0lt

Dont blame Vince, I wanna see Trish's tits too.

Stetson shirley

In the promos section if you looked at the new day and Enzo and Cass.

Gondotheslayer

The depth, precision, and nuance you analyzed wrestling with is an act of comic genius imo.

cole

Thanks Isaac!

PESSIMIST PRODUCTIONS

I dont like wwe stuff but you kept me invested well done good ep

Isaac

The golden age guys like Hogan and savage weren't popular in the 70s, but that doesn't mean wrestling wasn't. Guys like Bruno Sammartino were selling out stadiums long before Hogan was ever a thing.

Awesomehardcorebadass69

Ric Flair is the GOAT. Period

I remember the theme songs for PPVs used to be rock and metal. In all honesty it hyped up the mainstream fans, but they’re correct that the new generation don’t like anything edgy. They like soft pop music and stuff that is cute and cuddly. Because today’s mainstream fans are soft cuddled pussies that don’t understand the difference of a fantasy show and real life. Glad I witness the attitude era and ruthless aggression era as a kid.

Great episode. I was there for most of the golden age of wrestling. Even though I dropped off around '96, this was a great trip down memory lane.

Bacon Baron

I'm not really a fan of wrestling, but I found this episode to be very interesting all the way through. Your guys' knowledge and passion about the subject definitely shows. Personally, I would like to see another episode on the topic.

Pleb22

Usaly i dont like when people talk about Wrestling, because i dont know anything about it. but this episode was fun. because you taled about who they are and how they came to be known :3 so it was good

YukiMa88 UwU

I liked when you guys would talk about wrestling, even on DP. I enjoyed this episode.

Wjyndigo

new patreon 1st episode loved it

You can’t please everyone! Glad you watched though.

PESSIMIST PRODUCTIONS

Enjoyed this episode. Would love an episode on MMA/ the UFC. The UFC as a company has a very interesting history and still to this day could be very interesting to you even just looking at the relationship of Donald Trump to the UFC and MMA in general

Jack Lilley

One of the best episodes you’ve done content/topic wise and length wise. I knew all of the information presented here but enjoyed the banter.

spaceSuicide

Why would they try and migrate almost 4,000 paying subscribers to some new service? This one is ok for the time being. They should definitely diversify their revenue a little more, but not outright leave Patreon.

Oliver Edward Morgan

You get movie commentaries (usually 1 a month, about 60-120 minutes long), a couple of highdeologies, on occassion an Abandon Hope, and we usually get polled when the guys do a topic and have a disagreement that can't be settled.

Oliver Edward Morgan

Sorry if this sounds dumb, but what (in terms of more than half hour long episides) of DFF do I get now I'm a patron? I can only see stuff I've watched on YouTube and was craving some more.

Mark Buckley

Will you guys leave Patreon? I'd like to support you somewhere else!

TeaAndBiscuits

I actually paid $5 specifically to listen to you guys talk about wrestling.

Jesse

Not at all into tv kayfabe wrestling but still a really great show regardless. Thanks for the hard work guys!!

Sween bum rushing Derek with a Xenophase blade

Just from reading the title I can tell this is going to be the worst fucking episode.

Juiblex

54:40 - omg Hulk was the original blackfish

Isobel Vanderbilt

Great show

Johnny Kamikaze

Despise the Vimeo app (totally understand why you had to use it though), but this may have been my favorite DFF. And I'm not really a wrestling fan. Great show.

Ben Brodie

One of the best episodes

Alexander Bozyk

Any way to DL this?

Eli Wicker

I mean if it's a meme, it's been one since the first episode of DP. But they don't grasp the idea that the more they passionately respond to their least favorite comments, the more of them they get. None of those people feel hurt or rebuked, just noticed.

Jeremy K

If you want to watch great wrestling it’s on nxt weekly, fantastic in ring and fantastic story telling. Gargano vs ciampa is the feud of the decade

NoelleIsDead

Ravishing Rick Rude was my favorite. Calling the women sweat hogs always made me laugh and he kissed all the ladies

Bo Prince

Also, should've did a segment on Chyna.

Carly Marie

Copyright shit probably

Joshua Forbes

great to get this, but curious why you had to go to vimeo? it's fine, was just wondering?

Kristofer Foster

Man, McMahon telling Steve he might end up in a wheel chair if he signs that release form to fight Owen Hart gave me shivers. Talk about foreshadowing.

Marcus Smith

I can't believe you didn't mention that time back in 1998 when the Undertaker threw Mankind off the hell in a cell into the Spanish announcer table.

There is a download video button right before the comment section...

shelbees

I grew up with a lot of male cousins and wrestling was always on. We would always watch Monday Night Raw during the Attitude Era and its the only wrestling I'm willing to watch. And specifically, as a tomboy, I loved seeing women like Trish, Lita, and Stephanie McMahon who could look fucking great while kicking some ass. Honestly, an episode about the hottest WWE female wrestlers wouldn't be a bad idea. Great episode guys and would l o v e to see more long videos like this!

shelbees

Fuck off with Vimeo can't even dl the eps

Umbrella Corp Security

WCW was better

c0lt

They are 3 regular guys, what do you expect.. journalistic integrity? Why don't you calm down.

c0lt

Goddamn I miss the attitude era. I was young, I didn't watch it enough because I didn't know what I was missing

Matt Schilling

Is it a meme now to talk major shit to you guys and tell you how bad you are. Because I think you are very good and I like what you do

c0lt

Not a huge wrestling fan. But anyone who doesn't like this episode can go fuck themselves

Reid

old wrestling good, new wrestling dumb. Sounds like original pokemon good, new pokemon dumb. bad episode. you guys didn't pull any bad shit from old era though. wtf. pull up bad shit from current but not old shit. theres crap from the pass. biased as fuck. you guys sound like you havn't watched anything from current except youtube clips. terrible

Jeremiah

and WWE is extremely litigious with their material. Jim Sterling had an entire video taken down because he used a single screenshot of a WWE video game.

Helly Selznick

Anyone bitching that it's on Vimeo, consider if WWE hit DFF with another copyright strike? Personally, I'm not a fan of Vimeo either, but it was definitely a smart move to post this particular show there.

Helly Selznick

I'm surprised you guys didn't show that clip from 1998.

Carly Marie

I don't like wrestling, and never have, but I learned a lot about it. It was interesting to dive into something so foreign to me, still a good episode!

Connor

I learned about why wrestling was so popular thanks, now lets lock this away for a while lol

Over stuffed

How come when I pause vimeo it won't restart from the same position. I have to refresh the page and start from the beginning. Then, if I try to skip forward to where I was, it won't play just infinite timer.

Qartheros

Kane is not wearing a suit.

KhaleesiOfTheGreatDairyState

Never thought i could give a fuck about wrestling at all but this was easily the best one in a while

I go to school with Brock Lesner's nephew, and he is a little bitch

Yami The Goblin

Lame

Adam dye

Awesome episode guys, ...............TJ, you no hairline havin' bastard, stop interrupting Scotty you piece of shit! Yeah he can be a bit meandering and nasally sure, but he's the goddamn "Kaiser" bitch. So as long Scotty has to put up with your edgy ass, then you have to put up with the nasal lord. You guys are awesome even the Cheej

I was never into wrestling, but I think it's because I've only seen the modern stuff and just assumed it was always like that. Thanks for the education. You've really changed my mind. I think The Golden Era would have been my favorite. It's kind of like Saturday morning cartoons. I've been watching old promos on youtube since watching this. Macho Man Randy Savage is my favorite.

Teddy Spaghetti

Who would be upset over this topic? I’ve never watched it but at least you guys are interested. It’s far better than you guys struggling to riff off a “comedian” that can’t even draw a crowd on open mic night

Rants n rambles

I feel like you guys did a poor jog representing the new era, yeah the booking is consistently not good, but there are some real bright spots, and on the in ring side wrestling as a whole is going through a golden age, hell wwe has even had 3 five star matches in the past 2 years ( something only done 5 other times previously in the history of the company). I definitely feel like you could have pull some better promos for the modern era, the miz has had some killer promos, so has kevin Owens even cena has cut better promos than that.

Duck Commander

Ya know, the Chris Beniot thing didn't make sense to me when it happened but now that I look back at it, it does. Wasn't one of his moves the flying headbutt?

Lydell

Ok you done a wrestling ep now lets never speak of this "sport" again.

Sprite

Holy shit I predicted this

Luke Magalhaes

does this mean the girls get an episode on monday about soaps?

mega

This was a great episode guys! I am not a fan of modern day wrestling, but when I was a kid, the WWF was the shit! I remember watching the pay per view that Owen Hart died at, I remember the Montreal Screwjob from seeing it live, etc, so that shit was a big part of my childhood. So thank you for giving me some great nostalgia. I just wish you had mentioned Razor Ramone! For some reason that spic was my favorite back in the day. Hahah. Take care guys!

Clyde Frog

I'm glad this is on Vimeo 'cuz youtube are bein' cunts about it

Skeptical Jesus

got any constructive criticism?

mega

Holy shit this took me back. My grandmother watched wrestling religiously during the attitude era. I loved it. Great episode.

Lydell

I never understood wrestling - I remember kids in the early 90's having action figures and those fuckin' pillow buddy things. Screw that. Ninja Turtles were where it was at! That being said, I liked this episode and thought it was interesting. Macho Man Randy Savage was quite a character wasn't he?

Just_A_Guy

This is the high brow content I am a patron for. Cynical bashing on things that used to be cool. Keep it up

SammieSomething

What's more gay.... wrestling or musical theater?

Dark Nook

too long, didn't read, but liked anyway because effort and respectful tone

Jordan Zucaro

Some notes and thoughts: - Big Show's dad died years prior to the angle. The closest they came to doing this angle was in March 2013 when Paul Heyman mocked Paul Bearer (who died 6 days prior) before CM Punk attacked the Undertaker with an urn and covered him in ashes. - The TV ratings don't equal viewers. It is the percentage of US households watching the show. Raw's peak rating was a 8.1 on May 10, 1999. From what I gathered, the total viewers were around 9-10 million. They are currently just had their all time lowest viewership with a 1.58 rating (2.196 million viewers) on December 10, 2018. - The Ruthless Aggression era (2002 - 2008) was still edgy, but the writing and direction were all over the place. They still had the scantily clad women and had way more blood (to the point where it was ridiculous). - They went PG in 2008 to not only compensate for the Benoit tragedies, but for Linda’s 2 failed runs for senate (where they spent about the same as the Primary Presidential Candidates of the 2016 election, combined) - WWE’s stock price when they first went public was $24. Stock price fell from there until the first 6 months of 2014 when they announced the network where it shot to $30 before almost falling to where they were before. The stock slowly rose from there until 2018 when they announced their deals with Fox and Saudi Arabia where it peaked at $96. It has since fallen to $72 due to the PR nightmare they faced for shilling Saudi propaganda about them being progressive. - The Kawada Driver is multiple times more dangerous than a standard piledriver. You fall the same distance in both, the difference being that with the standard piledriver the recipient is held in position by the performers thighs, while you are just dropped on your head with the Kawada Driver - The Promos you pulled for the new era were only partially indicative of the era. Jericho is one of the best promo guys of all time, but the clip you showed was of him trolling, so you guys missed the context. You should have pulled either the promo where he turned heel in 2008 or the Festival of Friendship. CM Punk is on the level of the Rock and Austin in terms of charisma and had a million amazing promos outside of the Pipebomb. You should have either pulled him mocking Jeff Hardy for actually being fired for his drug problems or the “Your arms are too short to box with god” promo where he bitched out the Rock. You also should have brought up Eddie Guerrero. - It feels like you are painting the new era as all bad, but it hasn’t. It has been bad, but there have been some very bright spots as well. - Andre was very good in the ring up until 1986. His back was messed up by 1986, so he was forced to wear a back brace and used the singlet to cover it. Basically, his outfit will tell you the quality he will put on. If he is in trunks, he’ll be good. If he is in a singlet, no good. - Andre had been body slammed numerous times prior to WrestleMania 3, even by Hulk Hogan in the WWF. https://youtu.be/L7jcJnE-3mo -The match quality from an athletic standpoint definitely picked up in the new era. And while they messed up the storylines quite a bit, they would have some great storylines here and there (i.e. Jericho/Michaels, Punk/Cena, Bryan/The Authority, Cena/Styles, Wyatt/Orton, Owens/Jericho, etc.) - JR has Bell’s Palsy which leads to anxiety attacks when those affected are under extreme stress. The attacks can (and did in JR’s case) cause partial facial paralysis. For example, JR had an anxiety attack at Capital Carnage 1998 while announcing because his mother had recently died. JR finished the show, but was out of action for the next few months. - JR still has a good announcer, but he isn’t suited for Japanese Wrestling. He doesn’t know half the moves or people involved. He should be in NXT (for the lighter schedule) and the NXT announcer should be on the Main Roster. - Owen’s wife successfully sued WWE, while the WWE successfully sued the manufacturer of the harness. - The stunt coordinator was not the same as the previous stunts and had supposedly advised them not to use that type of harness. - The Hart Family has forgiven WWE, aside from Owen’s wife and kids. There is a lot of bad blood between the wife and Bret Hart to this day - Prior to the incident, Benoit had been severely depressed since the death of his best friend, Eddie Guerrero 2 years prior. Benoit’s wife also filed for divorce and a restraining order 4 years prior, but dropped them by the end of the year. - The Benoit incident is what stopped chair shots to the head as a precautionary measure against concussions. - An autopsy performed on Benoit suggested that had he not committed the murders, he would have passed away 8 months later due to a severely enlarged heart (3 times the normal size), which is indicative of heavy steroid usage. - Bret didn’t really get into a fight with Vince, he just went backstage and socked him in the eye once. Multiple wrestlers (including Mick Foley) did not show up the the tapings the next day and had to be brought back by JR. - Jim Neidhart and the British Bulldog (both had married one of Bret’s sisters) were granted their releases when they asked following the incident. However, Owen Hart (Bret’s younger brother) was not granted his release. - The Hogan tapes weren’t just of the Bubba the Love Sponge incident. There was also an audio recording of Hogan visiting his son in jail and saying some heinous shit about the passenger his son left in a vegetative state following a reckless car accident. - Vince definitely knew about Punk’s wedding, his wife still worked for WWE, had informed them of the wedding, and asked for time off. Triple H also called him a couple days before the wedding to “talk” and Punk said sure, but that they would have to wait until he got back from his honeymoon. - The WWE doctor sued Punk for defamation (presumably under the WWE dime) in 2015. The doctor got the court date postponed until June of this year, presumably to drive up Punk’s legal bill. Punk not only won the case within a week of court, but the doctor defamed himself much worse as he admitted to multiple HIPAA violations. Those violations were: breaking doctor patient confidentiality (talked to other wrestlers about Punk’s health), not recording doses or amounts for prescriptions, and (through the list of things barred from being mentioned) dating a client. Punk, however, still had to pay his own legal fees due to Illinois not allowing people to countersuit for legal fees. His bill was at least $500k. - When the big Paige leak happened, WWE weren’t all that mad at her for the leak. They were angry at Paige for dating someone on their shitlist, getting tattoos for him within months of getting together, multiple drug policy violations (most likely cocaine), and getting in a bunch a legal trouble. - The Paige Biopic is being produced by the Rock and is to be released next March. The cast includes: Cersei Lannister as her Mom, the guy that isn’t Simon Pegg from Hot Fuzz as her Dad, Vince Vaughn as Jake Roberts, and the Rock as the Rock. - The argument that the ratings don’t matter is bullshit written by guys trying to get hired by WWE. The vast majority of WWE’s money is coming from TV, so the ratings are important. The ratings had been on the slow decline from 2002 to 2014, but saw a huge drop between 2014 and 2016. The drop in viewership was almost equal to the drop from 12 years prior. They dropped 800,000 viewers from 2002 to 2014 and 750,000 from 2014 to 2016. During that time Punk quit, Bryan was forced into retirement for 2 years, and they forced the push of Roman Reigns. The WWE’s profits are up, but so is their expenditure. Their net gain for 2017 was nowhere near the net gain in 1999 ($30 million vs $120 million). They struggle to even moderately fill the arenas (drawing around 3,000 in a venue set up for 10,000). They are moving their prices up as to make it appear they are still doing well. There was an absurd number of ticket giveaways for WrestleMania this year because they were struggling to fill an stadium the sold out 4 years prior. NBC is offering them ludicrous amounts of cash because Raw is getting the best ratings on the USA Network so they want to keep them. The Fox deal was big, but Fox is expecting them to deliver on somethings they are more than likely not going to. Fox also needed something big to fill the space being left by UFC and needed to offer something big to get one of the shows away from NBC. - The argument that the ratings don’t matter suspiciously the Saudi Arabia deal where they were literally paid $50 million by the the Saudi Government for one show and to say that they are a progressive nation. The Sauds are very out of the loop, when they contacted WWE this year, they asked them to bring the Ultimate Warrior (died in 2014) and Yokozuna (died in 1999). Shawn Michaels was given a 7 figure paycheck for 1 match.

RIP mobile users

Michael Sims

Long & interesting episode.

Dagnar Legra

Thanks for the long episode guys.

jame20009

Jesus, this is literally the worst show you guys have put on. Glad it was incredibly late just for you to phone it the fuck in.

damien glenn

Great episode guys

Wesohlee

Does anybody else have an issue with firefox just refusing to play vimeo vids?

Dark Nook

promos for entertainment is an unfair score. CM PUNK dudes!! you gave them a 0??

This was the most real episode I ever did see on DFF.\

Pengmaeda

I'm not really in to wrestling but I enjoyed this episode. I also liked the longer run time.

Dep

What would happen if a villain boss made a female strip in a movie? Weren't there worse things going on in 50 shades of grey?

Euthanasia

Man, I am so happy Paul was here to offer valuable insights.

Ambivalent Manasprite

Thanks for the long episode guys !

Dr.K

Uhh, no it's not.

Beezhto Lazawoski

When looking for an option to cast, I found that the Vimeo website has several options to cast if you’d like to.

PESSIMIST PRODUCTIONS

I really wanted to watch this one but I don't own a computer and watching on my tiny phone screen wouldn't be the same. Hopefully, the rest of these won't be on Vimeo cause I may have to cancel it at that point. Really makes me sad when YouTube dry fucks its creators like this. It makes it so hard to enjoy the content I want to see conveniently. Keep up the good work guys, hopefully, next time I can watch. Cheers.

Bigness

Fuckin' THANK YOU for making this episode!

LOVE IT!

Chris X

Why are all the clips so choppy?

Isaac Peachey

I love it

TheJedimuffin

Im so excited to watch this! I havent stopped watching wwe in about 10 years, so i cant wait for the gangs take on it

TheJedimuffin

Good on you guys for preemptively Vimeoing this episode

Goontrooperx

Huh? Maybe it's your browser cuz it offers 360, 540, and 720 quality options for me. My internet is shit too and I mostly just listen to these so I'd love a 144 option, but you should have access to those three quality options.

Marcus Smith

My game is higher than you can even comprehend, boy!

PESSIMIST PRODUCTIONS

Have to give Paul credit. His performance this opening was top notch. Pick up your game TJ and Scotty

Aaron Young

this episode will be Wonderful!!!! mark my words

chris carter

Paul's promo was way better

Marcus Smith

We did record ahead of time. The episode experienced some technical difficulties and the preparation took several additional hours. In addition, Vimeo takes several hours to process large video files. I understand that it let you guys down and we hate to do it but sometimes shit happens. We will definitely record longer episodes a day before now to ensure this doesn't happen again.

PESSIMIST PRODUCTIONS

Thanks Youtube!

PESSIMIST PRODUCTIONS

Fuck Vimeo. I cant cast this shit to my tv and doing it off my computer is slow as shit. Also no fuckin quality controls? Lame

Joseph

Also, people bitching about wrestling are garbage.

Brad with the biceps

I put up an entire post about scott hall before I even knew this was happening... I like when that happens. Lol

Brad with the biceps

Lol they predicted we would complain but I'll watch it through fully then comment about it

Erick Sierra

3 hours of wrestling talk ? Okay

Erick Sierra

vimeo sucks

Neil Fowlie

Yeah so uh, you can't even do livestreams so maybe idk, RECORD THESE AHEAD OF TIME?? Come on guys is doing double duty for one week so bad to get ahead on this?

Marcus Smith

Of course the three hour episode was about wrestling. Let’s just be thankful there’s no more Ben...

Lol damnit, all that anticipation for wrestling

Tokyo Gay Bar

About fucking time.

Could this be the return of the Drunken Wrestling Podcast??
