Who is Andrew Yang?
Added 2019-10-05 04:17:47 +0000 UTC
Yarr matey’s! This be the truth about Yang!
I am exceptionally late to the point of my comment being irrelevant, but I always thought as TJ mentioned without tying the dividend to inflation it would do very little. Just like when minimum wage goes up, it’s immediately followed by an increase in rent, food, and basically everything that the people who need the money most struggle hardest for. It really just seemed like a pointless idea without a bunch of added stipulations, that if even one or two weren’t met would make the whole thing a massive waste of time and political capital. Basically a flashy campaign idea to bring you interest with no chance of bringing about the desired consequences.

Check on Bill Gates stand on nuclear power. Most advanced US reactors are 60's technology design on paper. Chernobyl was 40's technology. They came up with idea for reactor that uses nuclear waste as fuel.

I think its high time to put TJ down. Just smother him with a pillow because he has lost his mind and is a drag on the show.

Yang's college prep was taken over by a degree mill? Maybe TJ's father had something to do with it

1:32:56 yes and no; my parents gave up on locking down the internet when it came to me due to the fact I always found a way around the system for 1 or 2 found grey zones. For an example as of downloading, changing files, link visits for sites and just using a different path to enter through; for an example X videos; instead of going directly to the site, instead use an outdated app of google search on my Iphone allowing me to by pass the nanny system put in place allowing me to watch porn or just visit sites not put into the system and or just do the same trick I've been using!

Where’s the discussion about Democracy Dollars?
That is one of Yang’s most popular policies and you guys didn’t mention it once, even though it’s a lot more feasible than UBI.

Walmart already has employed robots (at least in Oklahoma) which have completely eliminated the overnight janitors. They have 2 robots which run late at night that you can see in the ones that stay open 24/7. 1 that drives around cleaning up the floors, using a motion camera to stop itself if a customer walks by. You can tell it's nearby because it constantly beeps really loudly.
Then the 2nd robot which is similar, but it drives between aisles scanning the shelves to see what needs to be stocked. It was only about 3 years ago that there were 3 (give or take) overnight cleaners at every store.

I just came around to Andrew Yang and found it nice to FINALLY have a candidate I can say I support. I don't agree with everything, of course, but I try not to be part of some hivemind that blindly does agree with everything. For the VAT, luxury goods would be taxed higher so I don't think for the average Joe it would affect us as much as it does the people who can afford the luxury goods. So my car I'm buying for $10k would be taxed lower than the sports car for $100k. That's what it seems to say from the website policies at least.
I thought overall the video was very fair and the pirate story was very funny. Great balance of humor and seriousness.
For the UBI, I am going with the assumption that at first if it did happen that it likely wouldn't start at $1k/month. I wouldn't be surprised if it started much lower. It just makes sense to start at a lower, less risky amount since if it didn't balance out, nobody would want it to go down. I feel like the UBI + public healthcare option would be HUGE in giving more power to employees. Right now, my husband and I have no choice but for both of us to work full time just because we wouldn't be able to afford healthcare for the both of us. I'm sure many families are the same way. They spend less time with their families and more time slaving away. With a UBI and public healthcare, we would, hypothetically at least, be able to work less hours and have more time for our creative hobbies for sure.
I feel like many of the negatives mentioned are negatives that are basically inherent in almost all candidates but to a lesser degree. I also like that he doesn't parrot leftist talking points, most notably the minimum wage issue seeing as how there seems to be a lot of evidence suggesting that raising minimum wage wouldn't even do anything. $1k a month would put more money in the hands of the minimum wage worker anyway.

No what I think is cool about their podcast is that they are like the shitty kids i grew up with (In Arkansas/The Arklatex), so it's basically me and my friends if we had a podcast. So in that way I relate and support them.. But I don't like fucking with people like that anymore, so I watch from a distance until I get bored, or more intuned with my own creative jive.

I definitely qualify as a TJycophant but even I have to admit, he really is a bastard. In all seriousness, I've been watchin you guys' videos for years, I'm a pretty huge fan, I think you're all hilarious and have some good shit to say, but I genuinely don't think I'd wanna hang out with any of you. And I PROMISE you none of you would want to hang out with me either. Isn't it nice to be able to recognize the difference between genuine interpersonal connections and the weird, parasocial near-worship of minor e-celebrities? ...well maybe I'm asking the wrong crowd...

Speak for yourself. I'm cool with doing nothing or little to nothing and getting paid. There's plenty of other ways to feel good in life. I don't think anything has a purpose, so automation won't make me any more or less depressed. I go to work because I want to come home, smoke a joint, and play Xbox, which costs money; not because it makes me feel good to put a roof on someone's house and help my community.

One thing that I've never heard people address when talking about automation is what about the meaning, or pride, people draw from their work. Musk and his ilk say all humanity will suddenly see a burst of creative freedom but we aren't all built that way, any more than we're all built to be mathematical geniuses or talented athletes. Even menial jobs are held in esteem by people - look at the miners for fucks sake - if you leave people without a sense of purpose, eg 'I am providing for my family' 'I am taking care of my city', 'I'm following in my father and grandfather's footsteps', you risk depression or anxiety or even rage. There needs to be a big societal shift at the same time as the work shift, to make humans not feel obsolete. Monthly payments will not be enough.

Bernie is gonna probably lose (get fucked over by the establishment) and then die or be too old to run again, then we will have no hope unless someone like him comes along, which is doubtful. I have no faith in any of these candidates to bring the change we need other than Bernie.

TJ said he did a video with Paul where they react to trailers and they just assumed people would understand that thats what they were doing in Flash Fried’s stead. It was lack of communication on their part.
