The idea that a traditional insurgency could overthrow the US government in this era is utterly delusional. At best you would get a Syria-like scenario where some foreign powers back the US government and some back the rebel groups (which would largely have to be broken off fragments of the US military anyway). A civil war where the military splits is the only violent way in which the US government could be overthrown considering the monopoly on violence the government has. In this case, the vast majority of your firepower would come from the military that joined your side. It became practically impossible for an armed civilian insurgency to overthrow the US government the moment we adopted a permanent standing army in place of organized militias. It's over. If the state began extreme totalitarian measures (which it already has, 1st amendment under assault, 4th, 6th, 8th amendment are completely dead). Many gun owners would gladly accept extreme totalitarian measures as some already have, and if there is a limit to how much they can take, it'll be far more difficult than it is now (which it's virtually impossible). If extreme totalitarian measures where taken the correct course of action is to politically oppose it through direct action. Boycotts, civil disobedience, undermining the economy, etc. If we reach a point where those options are no longer enough then our only recourse is to start an get the military to split off and start a civil war. At no point during this process would civilian armed takeover be viable when the military isn't on their side. Also your interpretation of the 2A is ludicrous. The only thing that would be in violation of the 2A would be banning all guns. It's historically off base too. The 2A wasn't written for "to defend against a tyrannical government", it was written to give the fledgling US the ability to defend itself through the use of militias (we had no standing army at the time).

Obviously a resistance would not be as good as the military. Duh individuals don’t own tanks and drones. Nor should they but having an AR with a 30 round mag is a shit ton better then a 12 gauge shotgun with 5 rounds because they resurrected that down. I mean I find it funny to you say my argument is flawed but give no rebuttals. What do you purpose then if the United States was working it’s way to a Stalinesque regime. We should have available what to average foot solider has available to him/her. Should it be regulated especially when you get to more advanced weapons yes. Psych test yep. Proficiency/safety examination absolutely. But if you can prove to me your of sound mind and can actual use these tools safely and effectively then by all means we should have them. Otherwise it is in violation of the second amendment.

I am not a fan of gun these gun regulations, but your argument about needing to stop the government if they become tyrannical is flawed. There is no way some hicks with guns would be able to stop the US government if they wanted to crush you badly enough. Guns don't do shit to help protect you when they can drone strike your entire block. I'm more for increasing background checks and mental health shit, not banning random clips/mags and bullshit that does nothing.

True there are plenty of tyrannical laws in America and guns didn’t stop them but that is in part your point. We can’t just overthrow the government everytime a law is passed. Someday there maybe a law passed that is too over the top. Were are freedom is taken away in tiny increments until they have taken almost everything or everything. Either way how do you purpose we stand against that if we don’t even have firearms? I’m not saying we should overthrow the government whenever the wind blows but we sure as hell better have the capacity to when the proverbial shit hits the fan. And as far as other reasons yes I listed one in my original post.

Also Australia didn’t pass its strict gun laws last year its been a while and those tyrannical laws haven’t happened far. TBF though in Australia there is something deadly you can arm yourself with like every twenty feet 😂 (Personally not a big fan of strict gun laws, but talking about having an uprising just proves to some people that pro-gun people are insane. There are plenty of practical reasons to own a gun that don’t involve attempting to overthrow the government because you didn’t get your way).

Your wrong about the Virginia laws, they expand the definition of “assault” weapons and take away anything bigger then a 7 round shotgun mag and 10 round magazine for other firearms. I was at the rally I understand it probably won’t do shit unfortunately. So the YouTube channels for Netflix and Pokémon have disabled comments for the trailer for the new Pokémon remake. On other channels who have reposted it there’s not a lot of love for it in the comment section. Most of the older fans aren’t loving it. I’ve always been a fan of the first four generations of Pokémon games but I’ve never been a fan of the shows or films. They always seemed super cringe.
