I too don't mind the baconator meme, and when I'm confronted with content that I dislike, I mostly skip it, instead of being argumentative. But I think, this issue is a huge blind-spot for them and I too am disheartened by how dismissive they are about it, especially TJ; his willingness to engage seriously with this topic is non-existent. Paul does have a point: In the future, a change in lifestyle will be forced upon everyone, since that is the logical result of all unsustainable practices.

2024-01-30 01:18:41 +0000 UTCAs a vegan listener, it's disheartening when my favorite podcast takes a stance that seems unsupportive, especially when highlighting the worst aspects of veganism. I don't mind the baconator meme, and I enjoyed the episode on the fast food tier list. I understand individual responsibility might not contribute much, and changing minds can be challenging. Personally, I'm vegan because the thought of having a dead animal inside me is repulsive, even though I acknowledge that meat can be delicious. I have a deep love for farm animals and wish humanity could see them as beings that didn't ask to be born and certainly don't want to be killed. That's all I wanted to express.

But I wonder if he has ever considered that such a world would look an awful lot like the YouTube platform as it has come to exist in 2024, a place dictated to by a cold, faceless, seemingly arbitrary presence whose motives are inscrutable and whose decisions are beyond suplication. Isn't this all-powerful entity the very reason why you guys have to rely so heavily on Patreon these days? Also, for the idea of "AI art" to even be remotely valid, the "AI" would have to possess a self to express (as in "self-expression"). In it's present form, what Silicon valley has labeled "AI" is no more self-aware than a turbo-charged version of Photoshop. It's just a rather blunt tool. And a blunt tool with which these uber-capitalists are counting on replacing millions of thinking, needy, argumentative meat-bag humans. They're already doing it.

There's a good reason why people are scared of this technology. It's infinitely scalable, which means more hardware == more power. Who has the most hardware? Not consumers lol. And with the REAL, BIG models...they can definitely tell you to fuck off. Sure, is it a 'product' meant to deceive you? Absolutely. But we are working tirelessly to achieve general intelligence.
