???!: The Episode

Comments

I like getting dff every day almost but I honestly agree that slow and steady wins the race. There are many classic full episodes, patron and public that I still enjoy from time to time no matter when they're from. But it's much harder to do with the shorter episodes. The full ones feel like an experience to delve through while the short ones feel more throwaway. I don't care if the full is 1hr and the three short combined are 2hrs, it's not about time but the experience.

Random bullshit, the episode...

The recent Alien focused episode of "Cinema for Cynics" was great. Most of the longer episodes of DFF are really engaging. The 30-40 minute ones (At least a lot of the recent ones) just feel rushed and it shows that the guys are disinterested. I understand that rapid fire content is what people expect these days, but personally I'd rather see more of the long-form content where they are genuinely engaged and interested in/dissecting the content that they're discussing.

That episode felt like it was about 10 minutes long. I've felt myself slowly begin to dislike these 30 minute episodes over the last few months. Many are lacking in energy or suffer from a lack of detail due to the 30 time constraint. Episodes carry less impact and they start to blur together since it's had the affect of each episode becoming somewhat uniform in it's structure. The general structure tends to be information is given for 5 or so minutes, then discussion/opinions/banter for 5 minutes or so, then you guys need to stop to move on, rinse and repeat to cover around 3 elements within the topic in question. But that's just how I personally feel, I may be completely alone here. I'm just glad it's Friday.

I, for one, welcome the eventuality of ???!! because I found each segment entertaining, especially the part about the milquetoast joke at the end.
