The issue with inbreeding is that you drastically increase your chances of getting two copies of harmful recessive genes. So if you get the hemophilia gene from your mom thatβs normally OK, because itβs rare, and the chances of getting a second copy from your dad are really low. UNLESS your mom and dad are relatedβ¦ if your dad is from the same family, his chances of sharing that gene are a lot higher. So you need both parents to be related to each other for inbreeding to be a major issue. Elizabeth is Noahβs granddaughter so thereβs some riskβ¦ their kid (Charlotte) has a 6.25% risk of inheriting a double-dose of any particular recessive gene. I donβt think it would increase over multiple cycles, though, because the cycle seems to be perfectly replicated each time. Presumably those chromosomes are going to combine in exactly the same way every time, so if Charlotte inherited anything nasty weβd probably know it by now.

People need to help me out as we move into S3 because that's where this show lost me and made my brain hurt. Looking forward to revisiting it with all of you with FoxTaco taking the lead.

I remember the first time I watched this and the other Martha arrived and my mind was blown. I think my partner and I just looked at each other and said W. T. F?! and proceeded to hard line S3 in one night π€£
I always find it boggling too, that Charlotte was dropped at her grandads, grew up, met Peter had Elizabeth, Elizabeth grew up, met Noah, had Charlotte and the circle continues. I suppose Peter and Noah's varied DNA stops Charlotte and Elizabeth from having 3 eyes and 8 fingers?
Can't wait for S3!! You're always so insightful and you continuously question everything. Even some predictions have been spot on, way ahead of me, it really shows that you really pay attention :)
