Soft Lines

This guy was like “I’m a movement photographer” and I was like “ok.”

Photos by Patrick Leung in San Diego April 2019. Thanks for paying for my entrance fee to this nature. This day somehow felt really good despite generally living in a Prius with a slipped disc in Rich Whiteville. Commonly referred to as “a long moment in time during which I was never physically comfortable.”

I do want to post some sets I’m sitting on from when I worked with a handful of people in CA because for a while that was the only human interaction I had. I very often prioritize content production over social avoidance so shooting has somehow become a safe bubble that is less energetically taxing than risking inauthentic connection. I’m not working in front of the camera with anyone in the upcoming months so I reckon the model posts will subside after I’m caught up to today’s sufferings.

I just had a huge falling out with a photographer I shot with many times and am really looking forward to digesting this dynamic and sharing why it has been so pivotal for me in terms of being respected as a model vs. artist and why a fiery attitude can be both empowering and hindering.

I think right now I would refuse to model for even Håkon Grønning. Guy's apparently a jerk anyways. Amazing work though. Art is funny.

Patrick was awesome to work with. It’s another photographer I’m having issues with :( This set is so different from the style I shoot. Your favorite is interesting as I’m generally uncomfortable with face shots and don’t do a lot of closeups as you mentioned. Maybe I don’t want to show the feelings on my face? I realize now that it’s probably fun to add others’ work to the mix because they capture things that I normally don’t... thanks Matt!

I’m sorry the experience was bad, but this set is really great. The one that is a closeup of you with the sand on your face blew me away too, that’s not a usual shot for you, and it paints you in a lovely light. The pose keeps one from thinking about how you are built and forces focusing on the feelings in your face and the small details like the sand and the mark on your arm. In a lot of your work, you are part of something more, but in that one, you are the whole and I really love it.
