I’ve spent the weekend putting together this video I self-swam-and-shot at the air bnb while in a small town outside of Kansas City.
I had gotten news that my lil hand raised catbird had passed away back home. I was already feeling empty and tired, and turned to my favorite form of grief and energetic digestion. I swam and half drowned until my tears were dry. I felt closure after putting this together and am glad to share something healing that is also pretty. These qualities often find themselves on opposing ends of an aesthetical spectrum and that’s alright too.
I found out my iPhone 90-million had underwater capabilities— something like 2 meters for 30 minutes. I stuck it to a phone holder/tripod attachment and then laid the tripod on its side, dipping the camera lens of the phone into the pool. I took four five-minute-videos and spliced them together to share, but not before changing the hues to more adequately portray some sleepy heart feels.
