The (partial) face (and butt) of a lady who just finished editing and sorting through over 200 gigs of photos from her trip to Colorado this fall

I was so excited to shoot outside again that I dug this hole all by myself. My hard drive dying after I had done half of it did not help my case! Now that I’ve finished I am off to go dig another hole!

Kidding, actually. Probably won’t travel again until the combo of pandemic + my body + living situation align themselves in more fruitful ways.

If you’ve been following my work for a while, you’ll know I don’t get fancy equipment. I shot on a Sony rX 100 (point and shoot) mounted on a $30 tripod using the 10 second timer and natural lighting until 2020. I did not have a hard drive or do any post processing save obviously manipulative photoshop on my phone. Just this year, I have progressed to a Sony a6, a wide angle lens (+ 50mm kit), a $100 tripod, and a wireless shutter remote. My equipment will remain at this level of fance for probably ever/a while.

Unfortunately this coicided with lockdown, so I didn’t get to play with my new toys as much and often as I thought I would. I had to set up an indoor studio and learn how to shoot with artificial light. I’ve played with studio lighting all of like 4 times and definitely don’t enjoy it as much. It’s not as fulfilling of a shoot experience and doesn’t have me feeling the same way in my body that running around naked outside for hours does. A lot of the work flow and feelin’ myself is lost in the technicality of it. It doesn’t produce the type of work that efficiently seeks to help me heal.

All of the above being said, I got a continuous lighting system and some optical toys to play with and keep me entertained until alignment comes so that I don’t have to shoot 200 compensatory gigs every time I go outside. Excited to practice these things and to see what happens during a time when I am forced to practice them because I’m not sure I would otherwise.

ANYWAYS, gonna share these final CO trip pics to photo tiers ($15+) next. Stay safe and creative out there, y’all. I’ll stop spamming you for now only to come back and do it again some other time.
