What’s up
Added 2023-05-12 13:49:34 +0000 UTCHello all.
I hope you’ve been doing well. Been a while since I posted last.
First of all, thanks for the continued support throughout this year. Wanted to give you some thoughts as to what’s going on and a content update as well.
TLDR content: I’ll start posting new Infrasound stuff, no schedule and sporadic due to various reasons, mainly the continued editing work on Azarinth. I edited the previously posted Infrasound chapters as well and am aware that it’s been a while. Poll is in regards to how I should post those edited chapters. Feel free to vote. Several options possible. All on the 2.50$ USD tier for now as well.
Random ramblings from here on out.
Was a bit weird after posting the last climax on azarinth. I was busy with edits on book 2, and now book 3. I planned to dedicate most of my time to Infrasound but editing was more extensive than I expected. That’s fine. I do enjoy the process. It’s rewarding in a lot of ways. But it’s not quite the same as writing new stuff.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been working on Infrasound. Been planning, going back and forth with different ideas etc. Something felt a bit weird though.
I had thought about how I wanted to do this. I had planned to finish enough chapters for one “book”, with some kind of clear cutting point for book 2. Then I would start posting, more frequent on patreon and less frequent on RR, to slowly build things up. I thought that would be the most efficient way to do things, both for me, and in terms of reader experience.
I still think that’s the most efficient way in terms of building interest/providing the best reader experience but my monkey brain misses posting stuff that I write.
I don’t miss the pressure I mostly put on myself back when I started serializing. And I don’t miss some of the comments I’d get, even though most were nice. Hard to differentiate for the human brain.
I have two books out on amazon now. And I gotta say… it’s just not the same. There’s just something so fucking exciting and rewarding to put up a rough chapter and seeing people’s reactions/discussions etc. It’s far more personal than feedback on an entire book. Far more engaged. Far more frequent too, and more easily achieved with single chapters instead of the daunting task of 200’000 words.
I know that that level of engagement was also partially responsible for fucking me up. But I’ve learned a lot. And if it gets too much again, I’ll take another break, step away, touch grass. Even though that will make some people feel anrgy or disappointed.
I feel more aware of it all. Feel more aware of my fears and the pressure, and in the past weeks, I’ve grown aware of the purpose and belonging that I’m missing. Feelings I’d gotten from writing stuff and sharing it with you. Finishing a book, then posting it efficiently, doing marketing etc. that’s cool and all, but maybe just not for me. Not right now.
So long story short, I miss sharing what I make. The new stuff. The more vulnerable stuff. The stuff I truly care about. And I’m ready to get wrecked by it again. Until I take another break.
I have some Infrasound chapters ready but the writing process for this one is much slower in terms of wordcount, so going forward, releases won’t be plenty. I have to consider editing azarinth as well now. Splits my attention, for good reason of course but yeah, less content posted. No schedule either because schedules are fucked.
I last posted Infrasound sometime last year I think? Chapter 37 I believe. I edited through everything in January, no major changes. Main thing are some changes in regards to knowledge and skills Kate should have as a firefighter, and a certain bomb is more ambiguous now. I just wanted to ask how you all would like those edited chapters. One pdf/epub or chunks of 5 released within a few days or a week so that you can get back into the story if you want to.
Let me know.
And as always, thank you for reading.

Totally understand all this! Keep doing what you're doing and I'll come back periodically to catch up on a nice bulk of new chapters. Like I'm about to do now! 😊

2023-07-28 09:21:04 +0000 UTCI very rarely comment anything, but i guess i ll leave one here. I read through the entirety of azarinth healer and really enjoyed it a lot. Some people might say its not the best technically written or whatever, but i ve read „fantastically written novels“ and enjoyed them less than azarinth, so frankly, fuck that kind of feedback. Azarinth was a fantastic and enjoyable story! I ve read the first 25 infrasound chapters now and am really enjoying it aswell. I‘ll read the next chapters on patreon, and then return, when infrasound has a bunch more content. Unfortunately i m the binge type person, not the „one chapter a week for three years“ type person. My memory isnt good enough for that.. Keep up the great and creative author work and take care of yourself!

2023-06-18 17:45:49 +0000 UTCOh yea, nah, it's certainly not perfect, technically speaking (though like you say, definitely improved since the beginning of AH), but I very much enjoy the style and, I guess, "types" of stories that Harthane writes. I don't mean genre, but I also can't think of a better way to phrase it than style and type of writing...

2023-05-15 15:07:36 +0000 UTCJust keep going where inspiration and the resulting perspiration takes you, and screw the haters! 😁 Azarinth Healer gave me a crapton of enjoyment, and I'll be supporting you for half a year or so in appreciation for that, since I can't buy the whole thing in book form yet. Looking forward to see where you go from here! Cheers =)

2023-05-14 22:03:58 +0000 UTCima both second that and diverge a smidge. The writing, on technical grounds, style, etc is OK. No offense meant. It's definitely gotten better! The storytelling, tho, is really good, and *always has been*. And, imho, that's more important anyway, in the long run.

2023-05-14 03:17:22 +0000 UTCHmm, I'm against reviving Eve for reasons to long to explain (think "soap opera nonsense cheapens the narrative"), but don't mind her as wandering wildcard for chaotic good; randomly altering lives and timelines as she sticks to her morals. But I think the imagined future of Ilea/Elos is at least as much a good thing as any specific instantiation. Maybe leave it as is, for fans to imagine. Maybe take a cue from Ravensdagger and do a fanfic competition, or allow personal friends of GH to do spinoffs in the 'verse, or whatever. Leaving it as is is far from the worst option, IMHO.

2023-05-14 03:12:26 +0000 UTCHonestly, I just look forward to whatever you have, whenever you have it. I thoroughly enjoy your writing, and have enjoyed all 3 different stories (AH, the DS-esque one I don't remember the name of, and ISB), and the main common denominator there is you, the author.

2023-05-13 20:33:40 +0000 UTCJust write whatever you feel like. Just don't forget to write a few dozen epilog chapters of Ilea wandering around the cosmos being a foodie, casually questing her way to the level of a primordial god, and reviving the people lost along the way with her healing skill evolution either at level 2000 or 5000. I'd honestly want to see her bring Eve back just so we get the reaction shot

2023-05-13 05:20:38 +0000 UTCFunny, I was waiting for an update to decide if I wanted to stay subscribed. Guess I will.

2023-05-13 00:17:57 +0000 UTCmy vote, as always, is "I'm ok with whatever works best for you". I enjoyed what there was of AA/ISB (the revised title tries too much to match AzH's title structure, and just isn't as catchy to me), and if I figure out where updated chapters are I might reread them (hard to say based on other priorities, but less likely if merely editorial cleanup).

2023-05-12 23:26:40 +0000 UTCI don't usually reread edited chapters because it's typically just details that've changed and I usually struggle to keep track of those anyways. I'm excited for more infrasound berserker tho. I liked the vibes.

2023-05-12 19:17:18 +0000 UTCBeen looking forward to Infrasound's return since the hiatus!

2023-05-12 19:01:34 +0000 UTCI’ve been following since the first 20-30 chapters of AH. I could never get into IB, it just didn’t do it for me. I’ve taken a few stabs at it, would be willing to try again.

2023-05-12 18:56:36 +0000 UTCLol those Poll options :P I recently started listening to the audio book version of the first Azarinth Healer book and it’s really well done. I’m definitely interested in Infrasound, but I haven’t gotten around to reading it. I’ll probably rush through the chapters you have posted on one of my days off.

2023-05-12 18:47:12 +0000 UTCFirst I'd like to say that I'm severely disappointed with the community that there aren't more people checking "I can't read". I've read Infrasound, but given the time since I last did and some minor edits I'd sure like to reread it again if it picks up again soon. Release it however you feel comfortable, although I'd personally prefer one big bingeread.

2023-05-12 18:06:51 +0000 UTCJust keep doin what you do. Thanks for the hundreds of hours of reading that have brought me a lot of enjoyment. I've basically budgeted into my finances that I'll be sending you a buck a month for the rest of my life lol

2023-05-12 17:22:27 +0000 UTCTbh I forget I'm even subbed 🤣 I think I'm following 2 other authors that are done. That being said I read som of the infrasound and can't wait to read more, but I'm waiting for a nice backlog to dig into. Take your time though!

2023-05-12 16:11:39 +0000 UTCCool. Yes, 5 chaps would give you weeks to write new ones. You should post on RR. We have updates here but if I was an RR reader, I would think Infrasound dead. I haven't read it yet especially after you talked about editing it though I'm looking forward to it. I hope to see Ilea's fourth class in one of those random posts though and if not in story, the idea you would have for classes when she reaches 2,000. Keep it up.

2023-05-12 15:58:54 +0000 UTCHell yeah, I‘ve been looking forward to reading more of your stories for months now!

2023-05-12 15:55:05 +0000 UTCI mean Ilea is effectively a god by the end of Azarinth. She can't show up in the story without completely derailing it unless Infrasound reaches Ilea levels of power, which wouldn't happen until the very end anyway unless Rhaegar plans for this to be a dramatically higher power level story which doesn't seem likely at all. If I was writing this I would at most have Ilea show up in an epilogue as a quick cameo, or maybe as an easter egg.

2023-05-12 15:51:57 +0000 UTCThe later one would actually be an interesting read

2023-05-12 15:34:46 +0000 UTCI look forward to reading chapters of a cool story. Funny thing is, I’ve heard cool stories get made here :p so I voted for the option that gets chapters posted. I can’t say I’m particular on the “how”.
Hayden Pech
2023-05-12 14:44:05 +0000 UTCDon't care aslong as u keep writing. Could be weather reports or a statistical analysis of the mating habits of crickets caused by shifting habitat conditions
Jonathan Timm
2023-05-12 14:35:42 +0000 UTCI appreciate your creativity, and thank you for your work. Keep at it, and fuck anyone who doesn’t appreciate your effort; they almost certainly couldn’t do what you do.
Evelyn Wu
2023-05-12 14:26:34 +0000 UTCAs someone who signed up after you stopped posting Infrasound chapters, I'd definitely prefer a posting of either the epub or the chapters so I can get easily caught up before new chapters come out.
Hot Mess Response Team
2023-05-12 14:25:44 +0000 UTCI've never read IB, so I'd take the epub.

2023-05-12 14:14:51 +0000 UTCThe day i finally start reading Infrasound is coming soon. So many chapters waiting for me. :p
MauMau
2023-05-12 14:07:52 +0000 UTCThis will not happen. They are separate stories and separate universes. The reasons for that are A) the system itself is a little different so I feel it would be super immersion breaking for the sake of fan service. B) I want the characters and world to be able to stand on their own. If the story isn't interesting without the possibility of an Azarinth connection, then it's just not an interesting enough story on its own.
G. Harthane
2023-05-12 14:07:12 +0000 UTCI for one am excite to see you writing moar story stuff, infrasound was always a cool one though the dark souls-style one before was neat too. Either way great to have ya back in the saddle (in a safe and comfortable way of course) .
Aclys
2023-05-12 14:04:11 +0000 UTCShe still could, the system infrasound earth got seems different, but that hardly exludes the possibility that it could be the same setting in a multiverse kind of sense. Or copies of Azarinth Healer could show up in the story an work for the Infra MC as a class evolution skill book? Magic equipment bonuses? Who knows ^^
Aclys
2023-05-12 14:03:07 +0000 UTCThanks for the update. Didn't vibe with infrasound as much as Ilea's adventure when it first came out, but I bet the lack of Ilea and your growth as an author would get me hooked now.
Hodge Wasson
2023-05-12 14:01:23 +0000 UTCI kind of figured infrasound was connected to AH and later in the story we'd see Ilea show up as a mentor figure. If that doesn't happen I'll be sad, but I also liked the first few chapters you wrote a few years back so I'll read it no matter what
Sean
2023-05-12 13:59:17 +0000 UTCI’m also a fan of the chapter by chapter release, it has been fun rereading the edited AH though. I like what you write a lot so I’ll continue to support you whatever you decide to do.

2023-05-12 13:58:11 +0000 UTCI voted twice. Always like new chapters, but also Tired.
Brent
2023-05-12 13:53:55 +0000 UTCI voted the harshest. Just because it was a funny vote. Not so usefull, i know. I will start reading it when you post regulary again.

2023-05-12 13:53:50 +0000 UTCSorry, haven't read infrasonic in quite long time so voted that can't read . But I dont mind either way. Not sure what's your future plans are but do enjoy more the weekly monthly type of reading. When buy books but seems to be lot harder to read actually finish them then just reading few stories during the week.
