The Intern Case #2

This is the second (and the last) piece from my cancelled series. Did you notice that I used 3D assets in both illustration? Here, the glasses, bag, and shoes were 3D.

I've been working in the webtoon industry for years, where 3D assets are used to help with production. Personally, I don't like how jarring they can look next to hand drawn art (if you've read webtoons, can you spot them?). Still, they're undoubtly useful when dealing with insane deadlines. I tried applying the same principle here, using 3D to speed things up while smoothing them out so they wouldn't look too jarring. And while it worked, it also took away some of the joy.

I've mention before that I love fantasy/gore genre despite how difficult it is, right? Maybe the challenge is part of what makes it enjoyable. In webtoon production, 3D assets don't just help with speed, they're also great for consistency. For example, we don't need to redraw the same pair of shoes or a weapon across dozens of panels in multiple chapters. In that sense, 3D is a lifesaver. But for a short project or a single illustration like this, I don't think it's necessary. I'll still use them in my work though (with a different approach), especially for backgrounds like interiors or buildings. Otherwise, I'd probably die ( ꩜ ᯅ ꩜;)

Now, for the crime scene! The victim here is a junior accountant. Her body was found on the pavement behind the office, the path leads to the south parking lot, usually used for loading docks and services. But her car was parked in the underground parking lot.

Her working laptop, phone, and wallet were missing. The body was discovered in the afternoon, before rigor mortis had set it. There's no sign of self-defense.

So, what do you think happened? Why was she in a place she wasn't supposed to be? Was she meeting someone? Someone she knew? And how confident must the killer have been to commit murder in broad daylight? But then again... was it confidence, a careful plan, or desperation?
