I think Alec just gives him that look because he knows Magnus is upset about losing his magic but he is closing himself off to Alec again about his feelings, because Jace is the reason Magnus lost his powers so I'm sure Alec is blaming himself for it happening, so he sees Magnus putting walls up again and he's kinda like :////. But that's just what I could out of it! I think he looks sad/guilty!
