*EARLY* (FULL/UNCUT) Heartstopper 2x08 REACTION - "Perfect"

Yes, Nick is terrified, but it cuts very deep. When Charlie deliberately harmed himself he crossed a line, a terrible and awful line. Once you’ve crossed that line into the nightmare territory of self-destruction, how far might you go? All the way? I think Nick got a glimpse of the worst possible future, one where Charlie dies and Nick has to go on living. Alone. Now, Nick will calm down in a bit and realize Charlie is NOT on the brink and this is NOT a crisis. But he’s seen that future, and once you see it you can never, ever un-see it. Believe me, I know.

Alex... I have been waiting, admittedly rather impatiently...lol... for this reaction. I loved your reaction. I must say, though, that I, too, thought you were a bit harsh on Harry, Otis, Christian, and Sai. All four of them were simply, awkwardly, telling Nick that they are with him. Sai's little joke about hanging out with his boyfriend was the same thing as saying to one of his straight buddies that his girlfriend had taken him away from the group. Harry is a knob even though he's attempting to be an ally. He's just an idiot. But, canonically, he does step up and it's humorous and cringey. Also...I'm looking SO forward to the "I love you's" in the third season because they are so much better than they could have been in this episode. I was ready to be completely disappointed when Nick began to say it and was absolutely relieved when he didn't. The actual timing...if they show it...is iconic as hell and will mean so much more. You will love it so much more. Otis, Christian, and Sai will be some great favourite side characters. I promise.

I never thought anything would be better than season 1 but then this season was all that and so much more. The way Nick looks after he closes the door, I think he's reflecting on what all he's learned from Charlie and I think he worries for him and maybe feels a bit helpless not knowing what he can do to help. Hated that cliffhanger but I will say it's ended up giving me a lot of joy watching everyone's reactions to that part. I can't help but laugh at the shock when the credits roll. And now we wait. I know I'm in good company tho!

You should watch Outer Banks! It’s amazing and I really think that you would like it! It’s on Netflix

omg, that's what I thought was going to happen. I just kept waiting for the car to come roaring around the corner

I thought the first season was absolutely wonderful, and I think the second season is exponentially, stronger, and in fact, gets stronger as the season goes on. And the final scene between Charlie and Nick is perfection in every way, from the writing to the directing to the acting from both Joe and Kit. It’s a difficult conversation, and it is handled with skill and compassion and taste. Maybe because I have read all the Heartstopper material that has been released so far, the very in the moment doesn’t bother me because I know why it’s the way it is. Just have confidence that Alice knows exactly what they are doing. A couple of notes on specific moments: first of all, I love the scene between Nick and Tao and the way their relationship has grown from antagonistic to a true friendship. And learning what we do about Tao’s father explains a great deal about why he acts the way he does, and I think gives us much more sympathy for him. I think you’re a bit too harsh on Christian, Otis, and Sai. They are teenage boys, and so they say awkward things, but they really are on Nick’s side. And I think the moment with Harry at the prom is interesting because he’s really not making a slam at Nick and Charlie but teasing his other friends because they didn’t bring a date when Nick did. He still has a long way to go before he is anything like an ally, but it is still a bit of a shift from the kinds of things he would’ve said last season. Finally, the song that is playing when Charlie is leaving Nick’s house at the end is a song from Will Gao’s musical duo with his sister Olivia, Wasai Project.

Hi Alex great reaction to this perfect show. With Nick’s look at the end of the season you have to remember he is a 16 year old boy with a boyfriend that has an eating disorder that has just disclosed that he self-harmed in the past who also has never confided in anyone about how badly he was bullied. So Nick is terrified about what that could mean or how he's going to go about helping. And finally we all do know that they love each other but the way that it happens in the graphic novels is iconic and when they do that on the screen you'll know why they didn't do that in this scene but for this scene they wanted a positive ending so Charlie could go home having confided in Nick and being loved and supported afterwards so making it a positive experience. To be honest I expected him to get hit by car on the way home. Luckily that was not to be. Bring on season 3!
