I’m so glad that you got back into Heartstopper right away! This season is amazing and I can’t wait to see your reactions to it all. I was thinking about Nick’s reaction to Charlie saying I love you and I think the delay in his response is him realizing that this is what Charlie had been trying to tell him in the Sea and Nick feeling guilty that he brought up the eating disorder at that time and made Charlie afraid to say what he wanted to say.

2024-10-05 23:17:44 +0000 UTCI think Nick is doing it all right. He’s trying to open up a conversation with Charlie about a really tricky subject. He opens a door in this episode in his question as they stand in the sea. It’s awkward for him, Charlie and us. But it’s very brave and very necessary. And asked from a place of love. Charlie declaring his love for Nick outside the bathroom door is very reminiscent of Luc opening up to Olivier in Alexis Hall’s brilliant gay romcom, ‘Boyfriend Material’, book and/or audiobook highly recommended. Look it up. You won’t be disappointed.

2024-10-05 22:01:34 +0000 UTCTo be fair to Nick, I would be pretty shocked if I was in the middle of a shower and my boyfriend decided that was the time to tell me he loved me. Also, between you talking about it and the characters talking about it, all I could here was that line from Legally Blond where the judge says, "I believe the witness has made it clear she was in the shower." Based on the birthdays celebrated in season 1 and how much time has passed, I believe Charlie and Nick are currently 15 and 16.

A few things that would be helpful to know or if you had questions about: for one, Heartstopper began as a Web comic that then has been published in book form, and then was turned into a TV series. To refresh your mind about the chronology, season one took place from January into May and season two covered May through July. This season begins in August and I believe it will cover through beyond the end of the year. So far, at least as far as Nick and Charlie’s story goes, the series is pretty true to what happens in the web comic. My understanding is that the beach that was used in this episode is Lyme Regis in Dorset. And all, although it was in the original, it’s particularly funny when they have the conversation about Marvel, since Joe Locke, who plays Charlie, is currently also playing a major role in the latest Marvel TV show, Agatha All Along (which is quite good so far).
