Musings on the Poll about Polls

I'm a little surprised at the results of that last poll, but the vast majority of those who voted say they like the polls without wanting a different approach, so I guess I'll continue with them as they are for now. For a lil bit of context, my concern was that the number of submissions under the suggestion box posts and votes in the polls themselves seem to have both been on a downward trend. Not many of the people at these tiers have actually been participating, so I figured that maybe I should be narrowing it down to a particular character or theme or something each month as a starting point for ideas instead, or maybe just finding something better to replace them with in general, but if you guys are happy with them the way they are then we'll keep going.

That's not to say you should feel guilted into participating if you usually don't. I guess it's not really a problem if people want to sit the polls out so I won't think too hard about it, it's just that I do have to divert time and energy into them and it can be hard to tell if it's worth it from this side, so I suppose it's good to have some of that ambiguity removed.

And while we're on the subject, this post might be a good opportunity to clarify that you really can submit whatever you want under the suggestion box posts! My ocs, character design prompts, fanart, multiple requests (within reason), whatever, it's all fair game! If you need somewhere to start, the kinda prompts I personally prefer are generally the ones that are more specific than vague, and I really prefer knowing which character I'm gonna be drawing rather than having to pick one myself, but you can consider those more guidelines than rules. If I really don't like something I'll probably veto it (if I do it's nothing personal!), but I'm usually open to pretty much anything.

That was a lot of words to essentially say that nothing will be changing but hey at least the thoughts are out of my head now. We'll keep going with the polls, expect the next one some time this month 👌
