Loose branches: ruining childhood friendships since time immemorial! And that line, "me being accepted by other humans was just as much of a fantasy as the stories we'd been watching," DAMN. A very effective way of showing how dark this fantastical world really is. Also, just wanted to mention how great it is that you capture so much emotion in these sketches (especially the last two, with the two girls running away and then embracing each other; heartwarming, tearjerking and more than worthy of its own spinoff comic).
