I was recently away from the house for a couple of days for a yearly gaming convention (and like clockwork, am now nursing a sore throat and runny nose after getting back home! Bah!).
I took a little sketchpad with me and found some time in the evenings to jot down a couple of doodles. It's been at least a decade since I did anything on paper, so it was pretty fun re-learning how to ink with these pigment liners like I did back in the day ( you can find a few examples in the Artchive , like "FA-FinalFantasyVII-Aeris", "FA-FireEmblem-Lyndis_v1_old", "FA-MegaMan-Rolls", "FA-TalesOfSymphonia-Sheena_Zelos" and "FA-XMenEvolution-Rogue". Sylvia (from Escapades Issue 3) was the first character to spring to mind that'd work well with solid blacks, and then I moved on to seeing if I could replicate the way I do shiny latex with an armbinder. At that point I was confident enough to do a fullbody picture, so the next night I made this catsuit piece. It's supposed to be Aer but I don't think her hair is actually long enough to make such a large ponytail... Ah well! :p
Anyway, I liked it enough to run it through Vector Magic, do a little cleanup (you can see that I did unfortunately fall victim to a rookie mistake with the ring at the bottom of the armbinder! ;) ) and throw on some quick colours. It turned out okay, but to be honest I kinda dig the traditional look of the raw scan, too! Sooo... have both! :p
