2024-09-14 04:30:37 +0000 UTCYes, it is a great setup episode! So much unpacked here. You eventually learn in this episode why Jaime killed the Mad King when he tells Robert what the Mad King said to him after Jaime stabbed him in the back... "Burn them all"! As for King Robert he is absent from small council meetings far too much. He runs his kingdom to the ground with bankruptcy and is too drunk to care for any of it. It's a miracle the seven kingdoms stayed stable under his rule for as long as they did, not to mention how he basically screwed over all the monarchs that followed because of his debts. He didn't train Joffrey nor did he try to make him a decent, just and brave man. Instead, he let Cersei guide him, which was a terrible mistake. His failure to fully recognize the loyalty and importance of the Starks weakened his position significantly. He did have many good strengths though which I will not go into detail to spoil things, just know that Robert let go of his own personal wishes to do good for the Realm. "Everyone who isn't us is an enemy" is such an iconic quote and sums up Cersei so well and you'll see why as time goes on. You can see that Joffrey in that scene with his mother is clearly struggling with masculinity and embarrassed with what happened to him with the wolf. Cersei tries to give him a few diplomatic tips but he's is short sighted and impulsive, a part of his personality. Always remember that Littlefinger (Baelish) is always scheming and planning and is truly difficult to trust as Ned points out to Cat and the same is true about everyone in King's Landing! Is he redeemable???? As for The Wall, I can't imagine standing on topside, icy, slippery and it's very windy up there, one misstep or a strong gust of wind and you're going down over several hundred feet!! As Ayra begins her dancing lessons, did you notice Ned's face turn from smiling to one of concern and sadness. It is a callback to him saying wars are easier than daughters. But what about daughters going to wars? Sansa's already been to one as far as I'm concerned regarding Joffrey and her wolf killed...so what is in store for Ayra???? You also hear all the background voices as Ned watches Ayra. dance..reminds me of PTSD from all the wars he has been in. Dang, I got long winded! I love GoT and so enjoying watching it again with you, Amber.

2024-09-13 20:39:33 +0000 UTC"Winter is coming" are the words of House Stark. Each house has a phrase associated with them and their sigil. I suggest watching History and Lore videos after each season. Some people are against it but I think it helps sort things. You are impressively catching more than most! Can't wait for more! Thank you!

2024-09-13 20:20:04 +0000 UTCSigned up for your Patreon right on time 🤗. Oh btw, Sean Bean (who’s plays Ned Stark, the dad), who also comes out in LOTR, plays Odysseus in the movie Troy…which I hope you guys react to sooner than later.
