If you dont perceive something as a threat, you'll be more likely to expose yourself to it with your guard down. Steve believing the house is just a house led to him telling other people that the house is normal in his book. This means there is a higher chance that Steve may very easily return to Hill House and bring forth others to it as well. Its the most dangerous for Steven simply because he falls so easily into the illusion that there are no ghosts and everything was normal in the house, when in fact it was blatantly obvious it was not. For instance, Steve believes there was a tree house, even though Hugh tells him there never was one, it's something he dismisses as a mistake on his Dad's part. Multiple times he saw or heard ghosts in the house, and multiple times he noticed the strange happenings with his own siblings but did not acknowledge that anything was wrong or feel any warning signs. To me, this signifies he is the easiest prey when it comes to illusions the house warps. The house's whole embodiment is to deceive and comfort people into believing the house is normal and coax them to stay. Just as it did with Nellie, the house gives you what you desire most to wear down your defenses before it strikes. The most dangerous things aren't the things we don't see, the most dangerous things are those we see and acknowledge as benign. The things we know and are aware of, the things we trust, are the most dangerous.

There's a song by Depeche Mode called Stripped that I hear in my head everytime I watch that scene. It's not even about what's going on in that scene, just the chorus: Let me see you stripped Down to the bone. That girl laid her ass bare. It was phenomenal.
