You're really hard on Michael during Jan/Michael scenes but Jan is being fucked up. She knows that Michael cares deeply about her and also that he wants to get married and have children and if that's not what she wants then she needs to let him loose. She's just leading him on, treating him like he's some sort of embarrassing thing, overall just kinda treating him like trash. Yeah, Michael is cringey and problematic AF but she also doesn't need to be in a relationship with him but she's choosing to do this... also she was way more cringey in this episode than he was and that's saying something.
