Captain America: Civil War (2016) Full Length

Dropping the shield was such an iconic moment. Showing he would rather be Steve Rogers, who would never leave his brother Bucky behind- than the flawless soldier others see him as.

2025-03-04 14:31:07 +0000 UTCEveryone raves about The Winter Soldier, but for me, this is hands down the best mcu movie. The story, the emotional beats, the detailed character work that gives all the avengers a bit of time in a movie that still feels like a captain america movie...

2025-01-26 11:26:54 +0000 UTCI will always choose Captain America. ❤️

2025-01-26 08:51:02 +0000 UTCThe final fight you can see how captain is so tactical, he starts by deactivating iron man’s boot, then when he exhausted every chance to plead with Tony, he went for his chest piece. Remember iron man 3 he got the shrapnel taken out so it’s basically just a power source now.

2025-01-26 07:28:22 +0000 UTCA lot of you worried about her not hearing dialogue need to remember she's got ears in.

2025-01-26 04:19:22 +0000 UTCI like you Amber but you need to stop talking over so much of the movie. You miss so many jokes and plot points

2025-01-25 20:16:22 +0000 UTCDid you hear Tony ask Bucky if he even remembered his parents and Bucky replied “I remember ALL of them” I wasn’t sure if you heard that important exchange because you were talking. It just goes to show how Bucky is also struggling with what he’s done as the winter soldier

2025-01-25 20:09:07 +0000 UTCReggie, I disagree. I’m not a fan of having to use my own copy of the movie to watch along. That unnecessarily complicates the whole process. I sub to two other Patreons who’ve also done MCU movies, and they haven’t needed to go that route because the volume of both their voices and the movie are just fine. Amber just needs to figure this technicality out on her end.
Dodger Blue 311
2025-01-25 18:45:42 +0000 UTCHey Amber, please be careful when you talk over the actors. I don’t want you to miss anything, especially with these movies that are intertwined with the others in the MCU. You might miss something that comes up later in another movie. There were multiple times when you missed something and then said that you were confused or asked a question that was explained a few minutes earlier.
Tara
2025-01-25 18:36:46 +0000 UTCIt's great seeing Stan Lee in these films and remember he co-created most of these characters. There's another name to remember though, Jack Kirby. Jack co-created Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, AntMan, Wasp, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver (her brother who dies so early in the films), and Black Panther as well as some of the villains you see like Loki, Zemo and Red Skull. The entire look of Marvel comics came originally from Jack Kirby. Comic artists were taught to draw the Marvel way which in reality meant the Jack Kirby way.

2025-01-25 17:57:21 +0000 UTCThats why I recommend to all Reactors to MUTE the actual movie when they post on Patreon.
Mr. Reggie
2025-01-25 14:27:33 +0000 UTCHere is a fix: Amber, when you post the MCU movies on Patreon, completely MUTE the entire movie so only YOU can hear it. We only need to hear YOUR voice. When you do that, that allows the viewer to use their copy of the movie and their own sound.
Mr. Reggie
2025-01-25 14:13:32 +0000 UTCYea, sorry to say, but she would take Natasha. She is part of an elite force in Wakanda.

2025-01-25 05:06:13 +0000 UTCI'm worried the reboot is going to fall hard. Kind of like The Crow. You can't replace Wesley Snipes. I'm interested to see them try though.

2025-01-25 02:03:48 +0000 UTCEh. I agree with him about the Accords, but not how he handled the situation regarding Tony's parents. I will always stand by that hebwas certainly in the wrong. If he had told Tony the truth before, that fight wouldn't have happened because it was the LIE that set Tony off. Not to mention, as his FRIEND, he should have told him the truth. That's why Tony was hurt because despite their differences, Tony always saw Steve as someone who was honest, true, and honorable. He felt betrayed by his friend. Even Steve knew he was wrong for that...

2025-01-25 00:17:22 +0000 UTCi was sooo looking forward to seeing your reaction to this one, where sh*t gets real. Yes, Marvel is excellent at paying off the little bread crumbs and easter eggs they leave along the way in later movies (and tv shows!). And each time they do that, they suck you in a little more, getting you more and more invested. It will all pay off

2025-01-24 22:06:30 +0000 UTCThe MCU movies started going up a notch at this point. Great movie, so much crammed into it. Worth repeat viewings.

2025-01-24 20:20:45 +0000 UTCI wouldn’t say it’s written for Cap to be right. Tbh I’m not sure it’s written for there to be a right or wrong side at all. There’s a ton of nuance in this situation which is what makes it such a compelling conflict. If it was clearly one way or the other it wouldn’t be as interesting. I think that throughout the mcu Tony has made a lot of bad decisions. His biggest being Ultron ofc. And I think his decisions in Civil War are born out of guilt from his previous mistakes yea. But the truth is that not trusting in the combined decision of the United leaders of the world, appointed by the people which you want to protect, is at the least questionable and potentially very dangerous. If Cap can just say I will ignore all the world’s leaders and do what I want because I don’t like what they may do and he does so without consequence that sets an extremely dangerous precedent. I think both sides have a valid leg to stand on. Personally, despite what I’ve said, I’d probably side with Cap. But that’s because I enjoy a little chaos lol. I just wanted to clarify for Amber though that Tony wasn’t lobbying for the accords to be enforced, but rather for the team to come to an agreement so they can remain a team and do so legally.
MadeByMali
2025-01-24 19:16:33 +0000 UTCBUT, cap had his reasons for "choosing to be a criminal." He had just dealt with Shield being controlled by Hydra, so his distrust for government officials and entities with their own agendas was perfectly understandable. Plus, he knew his best friend, who was completely innocent, would have been unjustly killed if not for him "choosing to be a criminal." Tony only agreed to the accords for selfish, yet sympathetic reasons (hoping to win Pepper back, feeling guilt from his past transgressions). Most superheroes "choose to be criminals"; for example spiderman, batman, etc. all are vigilantes. They "choose to be criminals" just like cap did in this movie. True, the other side didn't see all the facts that cap did so they were doing what they thought was right as well, but ultimately they were wrong. The movie is a Captain America movie, it's literally written for cap to be right (plenty examples of them spelling this out for us, including Natasha admitting they played it wrong, Tony himself admitting it, etc.). As for Tony's fight with cap and bucky at the end, it's very easy to understand why Tony couldn't see reason because he just watched his parents get murdered, but that doesn't make him right. He tried killing someone who was essentially innocent of that crime and cap and bucky merely acted in self-defense. Cap wasn't lying when he said he knew about Tony's parent's death but didn't know it was bucky, this is alluded to (albeit briefly) in the winter soldier movie when they are in the bunker and finding out about Zola's algorithm.

2025-01-24 19:04:05 +0000 UTCThe movie Blade is well documented that it also holds the distinction of essentially helping save Marvel Studios the cinematic movie making wing becoming a "vanguard" and pre runner to the existence of the MCU. When Blade the movie was released Marvel Studios had filed for bankruptcy...until Blade made a profit on it's release proving that an R rated superhero movie not only could be made but also turn a profit. This allowed "Marvel Studios" to reopen their movie making doors allowing them to eventually birth the MCU and cave in to Ryan Reynold's personal desire to create a true meant to be R rated Deadpool movie. One of the many reasons why the Blade film is so well respected at Marvel...and why Marvel head Feige wants the reboot to the cinematic character done well...thus the reason for all the rewrites and why they want it done right. If Amber reads this I apologize for the length but the MCU has an intriguing relationship with it's black characters like Blade and Black Panther specifically...down to other Black characters that I won't mention so to avoid "spoilers" to your MCU journey.✌🏾

2025-01-24 16:35:29 +0000 UTCA lot of people, at the time, got excited about Black Panther being the first black superhero. He wasn't. Blade was. Those movies are worth every second of watching them.

Susan Holly
2025-01-24 16:30:26 +0000 UTCThey're now officially part of the MCU. DP & W brought that to fruition. That's why I personally think she should watch X-Men, Blade, etc.

2025-01-24 16:30:20 +0000 UTCThe thing about Spider-Man is that the rights are owned by Sony (Columbia Pictures) and MCU (Marvel) is Disney so they had to come to an agreement to allow Disney to use the Spider-Man character. It took awhile.

2025-01-24 14:03:09 +0000 UTCI wanna clarify the Sakovia Accords situation. The conflict here wasn’t about whether the accords should happen. They WERE happening. It was ratified by the UN. The Avengers were world government property whether they liked it or not. The conflict here and the sides to be chosen were whether you would stay a superhero legally with the overwatch of the world’s leaders, or illegally as a vigilante that moves outside of the hands of the UN. This is important because it changes the lens a bit in the choices Cap made vs Tony. To be very clear, Cap was literally CHOOSING to be a criminal. Not saying he was wrong but that’s what happened. If you think letting superheroes be governed by normal humans is dangerous, you could also say that superheroes being able to choose to be an illegal vigilante (criminal) without consequence is equally dangerous.
MadeByMali
2025-01-24 13:36:38 +0000 UTCAlso I hope you eventually get into the DC universe. Batman, Superman, Aquaman etc. The Dark knight trilogy would be amazing if you haven't seen them yet.

2025-01-24 13:10:53 +0000 UTCAt some point you have to check out 3 more of the X Men movies. They aren't exactly part of the MCU but still pretty good. It's X Men first class, X Men days of future past, and X Men apocalypse.

2025-01-24 13:09:02 +0000 UTCCorrect, at least to some extent Ross used that word at the briefing introducing the accords describing each and every avenger but Wanda is the only mutant I guess the writers couldn't come up with another term to use

2025-01-24 08:26:38 +0000 UTCAnd that's why in Avenger's: Age of Ultron, they kept referring to the twins as "enhanced" instead of mutants, right? Because even though technically they are mutants, they couldn't legally use that phrase in the movie, because Fox owns the rights to that?

2025-01-24 08:22:42 +0000 UTCHere's a list of the next few movies... Doctor Strange Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Spider-man: Homecoming Thor: Ragnarok Ok, I'm really enjoying your MCU reactions. *BUT*, you were talking over sooooo many key parts in this movie. You missed so many little lines of dialogue because you were talking over them. I know this movie brings out a lot of thoughts and emotions given the plot and storyline, but you should've chosen a better time to express your thoughts. And this will become even more important with some of the movies in the near future, that it'll be key to not miss certain things. Oh yeah, also....you're coming through louder than the movie itself. The movie is just too quiet. When you get excited and talk loudly, I have to turn down the volume because your voice is way too loud relative to the movie. I'm not sure how you would fix it on your end, but it's something I've noticed with every MCU reaction you do.
Dodger Blue 311
2025-01-24 08:14:26 +0000 UTCThis is one of my favorites. I think it's because this movie features so many Avengers and the writing manages to build on every character's personality while advancing the story. I love how they worked in the newer characters - Scott/Ant Man and Peter/Spiderman's awe and excitement over being with the Avengers is so cute. I can't remember when Spiderman's movie is in the order but I know you will enjoy it. He's so sweet and earnest. I always thought I would never like another Spiderman as much as Toby Maguire, but you can't help but love this one. Also, Steve is so .....um, yummy is the word that comes to mind hahaha.

2025-01-24 04:49:12 +0000 UTCI know a bunch of people suggested pausing the MCU and watch some other, non-Disney Marvel movies. But I think you should keep going until you reach Far From Home. Perfect spot for a little breather on the MCU.

2025-01-24 04:48:57 +0000 UTCTo me it was a great twist that Stark who was always the loose cannon comes down on the side of rules and restraint. Steve Rogers was the soldier who followed orders and believed in his country but he opposes oversight and anyone giving them orders. It seems like the exact opposite of where they came from.

2025-01-24 04:25:17 +0000 UTCThe volume of the movie/show is rather low compared to the voice volume. I have to turn mine up really loud, but then when Amber speaks its like she's yelling.
Chris
2025-01-24 03:56:29 +0000 UTCThere were a few important lines of dialogue that were missed too. Like when Tony said at the end, before the final fight, "I dont care. He killed my mom."
Chris
2025-01-24 03:52:13 +0000 UTCAmber, I know you’re seriously invested in the MCU and we love it. But, I think you should pause this and watch the first 5 Spiderman movies (3 with Toby Macguire and 2 with Andrew Garfield). The MCU doesn’t give you a orign story thinking that you’ve already seen it twice. But you haven’t. Loving your journey.

2025-01-24 02:14:56 +0000 UTCThat speech Sharon gave at Peggy's funeral was originally a speech Cap gave to Spider-Man in the Civil War comics. It basically sums up his whole character and is one of the greatest speeches in comicdom. Some people who complain about the plot say that Zemo relies too much on coincidence, but he doesn't really, he just takes advantage of random events that might work in his favor. When Cap says he knew about Tony's parents, it's because of what happened in Winter Soldier. When Steve and Natasha went to Jersey and they were talking to computer Zola, he mentioned how Hydra would sometimes give history a "push," and he showed on the screen a newspaper with the headline about the Starks dying in a supposed car crash. Cap put two and two together and realized that Hydra killed Tony's parents, but he had no idea Bucky was the agent who did it. Zemo must have found the clues in the files Natasha dumped onto the Internet, and he went looking for evidence that the Winter Soldier was the culprit to prove it to Tony. When the Russian colonel sacrificed himself instead of spilling the info about that night, Zemo concocted a plan to get the information from Bucky himself. The Sokovia Accords meeting was a convenient high-profile event he could frame Bucky for and use the ensuing manhunt to draw him out. He knew Tony would identify Bucky as Cap's friend and that Cap would defend Bucky from Tony. So the basic conflict was set. When Cap admitted to Tony that he knew the Starks were murdered, that was just gravy.
Thaddeus Winterson
2025-01-24 02:05:18 +0000 UTCYes! Please start watching the tv series including Netflix Marvel Series (The Defenders) starting with Daredevil. They are connected with the movies and started at the end of phase 2!

2025-01-24 01:59:10 +0000 UTCThe MCU does not have a Spider-Man origin story, if that’s what you're looking for, you have to go outiside the MCU and check out Sam Rami’s Spider-Man Trilogy and Marc Webs Amazing Spider-Man Duology. My suggestion is to watch them all! Trust me you’ll have more appreciation and understanding for Spider-Man in future films in the MCU!

2025-01-24 01:49:41 +0000 UTCSo I'll reiterate this again, being along for the ride with you as you watch the MCU movies is truly a treasure. Because it's the closest any of us can get to seeing them again for the first time. And sorry, this doesn't get fixed by the end as you saw. The Avengers as we've known them are kaput. But that's OK - because the story goes on. Nerd bits about some of Vision's powers, especially that haven't been explained explicitly in the movies. He can "control his density". That's how he can go through things, or make them go through him. It's also how he can make himself so dense he can bowl over Giant Man (big Tic Tac) even though he's a fraction the size. And that's what Wanda did when she took him out at the compound, and Vision fell and fell and feel into the earth - she made him so dense he was going through everything beneath him. See you for Doctor Strange!

2025-01-24 00:19:16 +0000 UTCHere's a cool little story: I know someone who was an extra for Peggy Carter's funeral, which was filmed in Atlanta and that's my older sister To make money on the side, she applied to be background extras for movies being shot around the city and she landed Civil War and she was never as excited until then In fact, she was in one of the pews in the church and... Chris Evans walked past her left shoulder, practically grazed her I was so envious

2025-01-23 23:59:28 +0000 UTCMarvel has another black superhero. His name is Luke Cage, also known as power man maybe if you get around to the TV shows agents of shield daredevil Jessica Jones iron fist, and Luke Cage they were all part of the defenders, not agents of shield, but the rest of them were part of the defenders.

2025-01-23 23:57:11 +0000 UTCI love the late chadwick boseman (RIP) as t'challa I first saw back on a cable show back in the late 2000s, lincoln heights, playing an army veteran with PTSD

2025-01-23 23:49:06 +0000 UTCIn this universe, wanda isn't magneto's daughter Since the X-men rights were still with Fox, Disney couldn't use that plot device yet But... now they can
Karl Kraus
2025-01-23 23:48:11 +0000 UTCI enjoyed both Toby McGuire's and Andrew Garfield's versions of Spider-Man. But finally, Tom Holland's Spider-Man is age-appropriate and uses a midtown accent.

2025-01-23 23:44:57 +0000 UTCCaptain America Civil War goes beyond the typical good versus evil storyline that most superhero movies follow. This film made me think about where these characters stand and at times put me at odds with the heroes I cheered for. Civil War presented both sides equally, leaving the audience to decide whether they were “Team is Cap” or “Team Iron Man,” with other audience members saying both sides were right or wrong.

2025-01-23 23:44:13 +0000 UTCUp to the point of release, this movie is the closest of an adaptation to the comics and this came from the newer issues and not the ones from the 60s-80s Obviously, this has some contemporary themes and they're discussed brilliantly
Karl Kraus
2025-01-23 23:40:16 +0000 UTCNow, spider-man's intro in the MCU was the biggest part of the movie other than the conflict between Tony and Steve The hoops to get through in making it happen were numerous The rights had to be discussed with Sony, who still had them from the 2000s movies and movie deals as well, this one being the first and you'll see the rest that go all the way to No Way Home down the line Tom Holland is awesome in the role; he was the first spider-man i ever saw in the theater and it was memorable

2025-01-23 23:38:29 +0000 UTCI've been looking forward to this movie more than you can imagine, but I can barely hear it! 😭😭

2025-01-23 23:32:41 +0000 UTCZemo is another classic captain america villain In fact, cap fought his dad in the war Too bad he didn't have his outfit from the comics though Crossbones (the scarred rumlow) is a badass of a villain for cap
Karl Kraus
2025-01-23 23:26:03 +0000 UTCwanda is not magneto's daughter in the MCU just in the comics so far

2025-01-23 23:14:40 +0000 UTCThe captain america movie disguised as an avengers movie The start of phase 3 was the point of no return This was a clear example of your past coming back to haunt you, for a few reasons, directly AND indirectly The real question is to anyone who watched the first time: which team are YOU?

2025-01-23 23:13:29 +0000 UTCI probably say this all the time but man I needed this! Amber, your content drops frequency is fire! Bravo! 👏🥸

2025-01-23 23:13:25 +0000 UTCA movie merely containing the Avengers does not an Avengers movie make. This is something else entirely.

2025-01-23 23:12:14 +0000 UTCThis should've been Avengers Civil War lol. But we're missing Hulk and Thor lol.
