Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

Comments

How are they gonna make Batman the villain? Lol. You should check out the 1989 Batman movie. Directed by Tim Burton, film score by Danny Elfman, and soundtrack by Prince. Doesn't get any better than that.

Samantha McCarroll-Hyne

Oh my! They've got Batman playing a bad!!

Jayce

It's probably already been posted, but there was already the Sam Raimi directed trilogy of Spider-Man with Tobey Maguire in the lead role from the early 2000's, and then Marc Webb directed a two-movie run of Spider-Man around like 2012 starring Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man...both of those series covered his origin so I think when they did this new version they just opted to skip all that because it had been done twice recently and jumping right in allowed them to tell a different story...you'd probably enjoy those other films if/when you get the time.

Brad West

I removed the training wheels from my bike. So yes a kid with training wheels will know it's time to take them off. Never mind the scar I have on my thigh. 😑

James Melton

Tom Hollander Spider-Man top 2 ever

C. J. Ramirez

... and still stunning.

Rowan

Like the movie, just didn't like the revamped MJ. Just got worse as the films went on.

Tim

Only You 👍

Michael Norman

I have loved Spiderman since he was a regular on the Electric Company on PBS. now I have given away my age.

Marty B

The look on your face when u found out toombs was liz dad lol and yes that's garcelle Beauvais she played on the Jaime Foxx show back in the 90s

Rashad Walker

Yes Marissa tomei was in my cousin Vinny and she played in a movie with Robert Downey jr

Rashad Walker

I think you should watch these other Spider-Man movies on the channel rather than on your own time. We would definitely all watch them with you, so no problem there, I don’t think! I agree with after Phase 3. The Defenders series would be great too.

Susan Holly

Oh! Michael Keaton. My favorite Batman bar none. He is one handsome man that aged beautifully. So, so many of his movies are epic.

Rowan

Yes!!!

Rowan

When Peter leaves detention he had the plank pee pass. What did your teachers do? My favorite and most embarrassing one was the same, it was an actual toilet seat. To this day I remember how much I held my bladder down until I could get a less embarrassing pass. I also had a plank as well. Teachers are inventive that's for sure. Also, I think they have a wee bit of sadistic tendencies rolling around in there.

Rowan

Ok. I'm doing this in two separate comments. I was an underoo kid. I wore my Wonder Woman ones all the time. I had a rope coiled up and all. I still wish a picture had been taken of me,I would have shared it. I was adorable. 😂

Rowan

Hey girl hey don’t forget the marvel shorts they fill in the blanks between movies

Brittiney Johnson

/headdesk

Rowan

Oh, and hold on. Everything goes from 10 to 100 from here on out. Brace yourself, Amber.

Skipping how Spider-Man gets his powers was a good choice. It let's us get into different things with him. His origin has been told countless times in movies, TV shows, and comic books for over 60 years. No need to re-hash it. Spider-Man is a teenager who doesn't feel like he belongs anywhere. Is it any wonder people relate to him? That's got to be one of the most universal relatable experiences there is. Sorry if this has already been posted, but if you liked the Ramones to start and end the movie, you might like their cover of the Spider-Man them song: https://youtu.be/yV7VtiEja5Q?si=RSozBG3BqykHO4pA

pawpaw72546

Okay you don't have to show these on Patreon if you don't want but it is really important that you watch at least the first Toby Mcguire movie and the first Andrew Garfield. Would be better to watch all 5 of those guys films. They are Spiderman 1, 2 and 3 and the Amazing Spiderman 1 and 2. It will make one of the future movies make sense.

Marty B

I think I know where you are going with that. Agreed.

Tray-T

The best

Tray-T

Agreed. It's 5 darn movies but need to be watched before Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The Mad Icelander

And the journey continues. Couple things 1) The "upside-down spider man kiss" doesn't happen in this movie. That's from the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man which was the first ever big-budget Marvel Spider man movie in 2002. 2) They chose to not show his origin story since it had already been told twice and everyone pretty much knows by know how he got his powers. Tobey Maguire's Spider-man was a trilogy. Then they also re-booted the franchise with two movies(The Amazing Spider-man & The Amazing Spider-man 2) played by Andrew Garfield. Neither are a part of the "Marvel Cinematic Universe(MCU)" but told the story of Spider-man as part of a different universe. Yeah, it gets complicated lol.

The Mad Icelander

Glad your getting through these lol. I've been falling behind a little but I'll catch up in the next few days. Next 3 Thor - Ragnarok Black Panther Avengers - Infinity War

Drewcliff82

Michael Keaton is OG Batman. You for sure recognize as Beetlejuice!

Richard C

Mine too. Can’t wait for her to meet Hela!

Richard C

Yes. She did say that.

Richard C

I think she did see the first animated one... and was confused lol So maybe not that

Karl Kraus

Second this. Not right now, but before the other Tom Holland solo outings

Mark Adolph

FIRE REACTION!!!!

Jonathan

You definitely should watch the other spider-men movies before watching the third one in this series. It is kind of integral to make it a much more rewarding experience. And definitely watch Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its sequel! Those are amazing movies.

Kevin

Here's a cool fact. My husband was good friends with the director of this movie when they were in high school! 😊

Amber Rogers

I know you're not quite there yet, but before you watch the third Spider-Man film in the MCU franchise, you need to go back and watch the other two versions of Spider-Man starring Toby McGuire and Andrew Garfield. You will be sorely disappointed if you don't. And I'm sure all your fans would agree.

BlueEyedRaven

Ragnorok is my fav so I'm sooo excited!

Melody Netherton

Me too! I still have the movie poster in my living room! Can't wait for her reaction!

Melody Netherton

Can't wait for Ragnarok! It's my favorite Marvel film of all time! 😄

Nerdgirl2025

Amber I thought you would get a kick out of knowing that Tom Holland was just like your son when he was little. There's numerous pictures of him as a child wearing Spider-Man costumes and playing with the toys. I tried to add a picture but it's not allowing it so if you just Google "Tom Holland as a kid Spider-Man costume" you'll find it there's some of him as young as five wearing it.

Nerdgirl2025

I think it's definitely a nod to that but they also wanted an excuse to expand on the character which I appreciate.

Nerdgirl2025

The title Spider-Man: Homecoming is a clever nod to Spider-Man/Peter Parker’s return to the MCU, marking his official integration into the larger universe.

Jake Sisk

Peter Parker has had several love interests, but Mary Jane is certainly his main one. However, it’s a misconception that Zendaya’s character, Michelle "MJ" Jones, is playing the same Mary Jane Watson from the comics.

Jake Sisk

We’re getting so close to Infinity War 🙌

MadeByMali

Aaron Davis, if you remember from seeing the animated Spider-Man movie, is the uncle of Spider-Man Miles Morales

Karl Kraus

Fun fact: The high school's principal is the grandson of one of Captain America's Howling Commando war buddies

Karl Kraus

This was really good, but Thor; Ragnorok is awesome and Black Panther is epic.....but then you get to the LEGENDARY Avengers: Infinity War. Buckle up, buttercup.

DarrellWaller

The MCU skipped a Spider-Man origin story since audiences had already seen it twice before, and retelling it again would have felt repetitive. Instead, it builds on the groundwork laid by earlier Spider-Man films, which are definitely worth a watch.

Jake Sisk

He was also in Mr. Mom and Gung Ho

Thomas Horton

Besides Beetlejuice, Michael Keaton played Batman

Thomas Horton

It's funny that you called the wings on the Vulture's suit batwings because Michael Keaton was the Batman in 1989 and 1992

Karl Kraus

Peter Parker has had many love interests. He’s a bit of a lady’s man honestly. Mary Jane is actually his last love interest and he doesn’t meet her until he’s older in the comics. Liz Allen is one of his earlier relationships when he’s a teen in the comics

MadeByMali

The fact that he was obsessed with Spider man as a kid and theres literally pics of him playing with spiderman merch his whole childhood just screams perfect casting

Melody Netherton

Not gonna lie: I saw the twist of the Vulture being Liz's dad coming a mile away

Karl Kraus

Yes! You have to watch the others before you watch the last one in this series!!!

Heather

Every spider-man fan has their own favorite actor who plays him: tobey maguire, andrew garfield and now tom holland Since i grew up with tobey, i like him the best Tom is a close second

Karl Kraus

You may want to watch the Sam Rami and Marc Webb versions of Spider-man. A lot of nostalgia that pay off in the long run. Maybe also check out Daredevil the Netflix series

Theo Harris

Yes, slow down after Phase 3 and slip in some old movies. Spider-Man, X-men or some tv shows like Daredevil or Agents Of Shield. Do a poll after Phase 3.

Becky White

When peter was in science lab class, he was brewing his web fluid for his wrist shooters

Karl Kraus

Love Tom Holland! I think he nailed both Peter Parker and Spider-Man, and that can be really tricky. He also has a hilarious reputation for spoiling his movies while he’s doing press, and I would probably be the same way. I can’t keep a secret for nothing.

Stacey K

If you're wondering why Sony/Columbia is credited along with Marvel/Disney, it's because Sony has had the movie rights for Spider-Man since the 2000s The agreement it took to get the character into this universe was a long but fruitful wait as you saw over in Civil War

Karl Kraus

Casting Michael Keaton as Vulture was a brilliant choice, as his history with iconic superhero roles added a unique and memorable depth to the character, making his return to the genre as a villain both impactful and elevating.

Jake Sisk

Its called Homecoming because at long last Marvel Studios were able to incorporate Spiderman their most important character into the MCU. To understand the history behind the Marvel Comics bankruptcy in the 80's where they soled most of their characters to different movie studios is also important

Theo Harris

The vulture was one of the first villains spider man faced in the original comics I think he was in the first issue, maybe the second So, it's fitting he gets to be the first villain in the trilogy

Karl Kraus

That might also be done on her own time since she has other shows to record and edit We don't want to overwhelm her too much

Karl Kraus

I hope she also does the mini-series after endgame. I don't want to name them here because the titles could be slightly spoilery

Melody Netherton

Vulture

Thomas Horton

Ok We have some homework for you to do amber On your own time, so as not to mess with the flow of your binging the MCU, watch the spider man movies from the 2000s and 2010s There are spider man 1 2 and 3 Then there's the amazing spider man 1 and 2 They'll be SUPER important once you see the final chapter of this trilogy you started here, called No Way Home I suggest you start it after avengers endgame, since the second of this trilogy, far from home, is after endgame It'll be a nice stopping point

Karl Kraus

Don't know what the writers were thinking there 🤦

Karl Kraus

Marisa Tomei

Thomas Horton

Yes Zendaya and Tom recently got engaged and I think theyre adorable! I love how much he respects her like the paparatzi caught her staying over at his house and everyone was picking on her in the press about it and instead of being a typical guy and going with it he said that she fell asleep at his place and nothing happened trying to protect her reputation this was before they were dating. Another time he protected her from being mobbed and literally pushed through them to save her. He and RDJ are still friends today and he has said many times he wouldn't be where he is without his guidance.

Melody Netherton

You should take a break and watch the earlier Spider-Man movies.

Will Castillo

Pay attention to the comments someone will tell you when to take a break And watch the earlier, Spider-Man movies

Thomas Horton

Ignore the 8 years later. It was more like 5 years

Theo Harris

My 3 year old daughter wears her Ghost Spider costume most days too 😂

Brantly

My favorite spider-man

Jim

And Batman(the best one in my opinion)

Melody Netherton

Finally Spider-Man! Tom Holland does a great job as Spidey. Loving your journey into the MCU Amber!👍

Jose Villescaz Jr.

He was Beetlejuice
