Seeing her father in tears broke me. He saw how happy she was, and supported her wholeheartedly. You gotta love a happy ending, if even it was after a roller coaster of a ride emotionally to get there 💕 💕.

2025-07-04 22:18:55 +0000 UTCPerfect choice for Valentine’s Day. It occurs to me that being single on Valentine’s Day is a distinct experience for many of us. I speak from personal experience, having navigated the waters of singlehood for the past couple of years—not out of choice, but rather circumstance. Yet, let me be clear: I harbor no bitterness or envy toward those celebrating with their partners tomorrow. In fact, I consider myself a hopeless romantic at heart, reveling in the joy of others who are in love. Reflecting back, I can’t deny that Valentine’s Day used to be a less-than-pleasant affair for me. The uniqueness I mentioned earlier often manifests as a sense of being an outsider, a sentiment that resonates with many who find themselves in similar shoes. Today, however, my perspective has shifted. I find myself filled with gratitude for the relationships I cherish—the family and friends who stand by me, who love me unconditionally. Sure, there’s an undeniable longing for companionship, for those shared moments with a lovely woman. Believe me, I miss it more than words can convey. But life offers so much more to enjoy, and that’s the message I want to impart to my fellow single friends: embrace the joy around you. So, whether you choose to enjoy the company of family and friends or relish the solace of solitude, find something you love to do. Keep your mind engaged and your spirit lifted. To all my friends in committed relationships, Happy Valentine’s Day! And to my single friends, keep that chin up. Don’t settle for anything less than what you deserve. The right person will come along in due time. Until then, pursue what makes you happy and savor every moment of this beautiful journey called life.

2025-02-14 01:25:41 +0000 UTCJane Austin wrote so many books on romance in the 19th century. Sense and sensibility would be another great movie. Other romantic movies I would recommend would be Hope Floats, Benny and Joon, The Notebook, Moonstruck, Emma, Stardust, and Moulin Rouge. Love this movie and all the ones I listed. Great movies

2025-02-10 22:27:14 +0000 UTCI love this movie and I live many of the suggestions given here. I hope you consider some of them. In this time period, a young lady absolutely had to find a young man to marry (hopefully a wealthy one or one with a good trade). Otherwise she had no way to live unless she had an inheritance or parents that would let them live with them. Women didn’t work.

2025-02-10 14:50:16 +0000 UTCI beg you, you’ve been watching some of the greatest series ever made (Game of Thrones: breaking bad: etc.) please do a series on DOWNTON ABBEY👀 one of the greatest TV series ever made. It’s spun off into movies. Trust….

2025-02-10 06:48:09 +0000 UTCCan I just say that Keira Knightley is lovely? She definitely has an Audrey Hepburn-ish vibe about her during this movie. It’s a fantastic choice for Valentine’s Day. Incidentally, for my single friends out there, you’re not alone. I used to get really depressed and down on VD (Valentine’s Day, just thought I would clarify that 😉). But I made some new friends, discovered some new things, and I’m going to be enjoying myself on that day. What better way than to watch a good movie?

2025-02-10 03:54:14 +0000 UTCI agree that if you liked this, you would love Sense and Sensibility - and there *is* a big Harry Potter connection in it - well, besides Emma Thompson (Professor Trelawney), you have Snape (Alan Rickman) playing one of the most chivalrous and romantic characters. Absolutely heart melting!!

2025-02-10 01:15:52 +0000 UTC"Much Ado About Nothing" (993) directed by Kenneth Branagh is an excellent love story and Emma Thompson is fantastic in it.

2025-02-09 21:46:14 +0000 UTCI whole heartedly agree. The BBC adaptation from 1995 with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle kept the whole nation (UK) on tenterhooks and is the best version by far. I enjoyed this film but it will not leave the lasting impression of that series.

2025-02-09 20:06:22 +0000 UTCAbsolutely not! I can see the similarity. You should check out some Donald Sutherland movies. He's probably best known for the movie M*A*S*H although he's had a varied career. You'll see Ian McKellen again if you watch X-men. I believe Ian is a more theatrically trained actor although he's been in plenty of films. I went down the rabbit hole on this recently. You should check out some photographs of Ian McKellen in his youth. What a striking figure! Also, he is known now for his quite adorable best friendship with the actor Patrick Stewart. It's quite heartwarming. 😊

2025-02-09 19:59:32 +0000 UTCThe BBC miniseries is great for when you want to enjoy it over a few days. The movie is perfect for enjoying in an evening. Both are 100% worth watching

2025-02-09 14:54:04 +0000 UTCLoved it. Saw this movie when it came out and became one of my most favorite period films. Could you also watch “Das Leben der Anderen” translates to “The Lives of Others”. It’s a German flick and my absolute favorite foreign-languaged film. It won the same for that years Academy Awards—and holds 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s one of the best defictions of love in a movie I’ve seen

2025-02-09 03:31:25 +0000 UTCLoved your reaction to this. It’s a great version, although the BBC miniseries with Colin Firth is my favorite. I highly recommend you also watching the 1995 Sense and Sensibity movie with Emma Thompson (also writer) and Hugh Grant. It Is Wonderful!

2025-02-09 03:08:46 +0000 UTCThe 1995 BBC mini-series with Colin Firth is prob the best version of this book to date. Well worth watching, Amber.

2025-02-08 21:41:22 +0000 UTCI highly recommend The Last of the Mohicans (1992), a stunning 18th-century film based on the classic novel. With breathtaking cinematography, a powerful romance, and a hauntingly beautiful score, it vividly brings colonial America to life. The film also explores Native American cultures and their challenges during the French and Indian War, all portrayed through outstanding performances.

2025-02-08 21:10:33 +0000 UTCI absolutely love historical movies. They transport me to different times and places, allowing me to experience the lives of people from the past. History has so many incredible stories that deserve to be told.

2025-02-08 19:35:41 +0000 UTCOh!!! I am so glad you picked this one! I was so surprised - you are really mixing it up. I love this film so much - I have watched this a ridiculous amount of times. I love a well done period piece and this one is top tier. Also all of Patty’s suggestions of other period films are absolutely on point! I could literally fill up your comments sections with useless trivia about all these movies. Lol

2025-02-08 19:26:21 +0000 UTCDefinitely not Gandalf but an incredible actor in his own right. Donald Sutherland. He is Kiefer Sutherland's father and he passed away recently. Gandalf was played by Ian McKellen.

2025-02-08 19:25:35 +0000 UTCI’m more of a Mr.Rochester type, but Mr. Darcy will do too lol. There’s a 2011 adaptation of Jane Eyre with Michael Fassbender and Mia Wasikowska, you should check it out. For more period films try “Shakespeare In Love” “Amadeus” “The Age of Innocence” “Elizabeth”…and for more Jane Austen “Sense and Sensibility” (1995)
