Meredith Brooks-Bitch Music Reaction

Comments

Oh man... We have all been there! This was the top song at karaoke when it came out... It gave women permission to be themselves and not try to conform to what people thought they should be. It was so freeing to say that's just me, all the parts!

Vanessa Hand

Amber, you are a goddess and never forget that! This song was our anthem in the 90s. Other powerful female anthems are found in the catalogs of PJ Harvey, Ani DiFranco, Luscious Jackson, Bikini Kill and so many more.

Michelle Ledbetter

Joss Stone's "Right to be Wrong" is another fantastic 'be yourself" song!

Tina

Meredith Brooks is actually a great guitar player and had the video made showing her finger movements on the guitar, so people could see she actually is playing it. There is a video on you tube of Celine Dion and Anastasia performing an AC/DC song "You Shook Me" for some concert called the night of the divas. Meredith Brooks is playing guitar. It is a riot, and it would be a concert to punish your teenage daughter and her friend, by making them attend it, after being caught sneaking out to a real AC/DC concert. They would die of embarrassment.

Gary Morse

You're perfect just the way you are!!

Tina

I do believe you would love the song Nature's Way by the band SPIRIT (1970) Known for their album Twelve Dreams of Dr Sardonicus ~ a psychedelic concept album. Right up your alley!

Alice Coulter

Such an amazing reaction 😍😍😍😍😍This is just one of those anthems that lives rent-free in everyone’s brain if you were alive during the time that this came out! You should definitely check out some more of the 90s there were so many amazing songwriters! If you want to react to more empowering women in music from the 90’s just check out the artists that were part of the Lilith fair and start from there🥰

Heather

Love you bitch lol I’ve loved you guys from the beginning I still love you guys

Sourpuss

As much as you love Metallica, you should react to a song off their S&M album performed with the San Francisco Symphony. Really a cool vibe

Neal Riggins

Aww Amber! I just love you, I feel like you’re my friend by now. I have loved seeing you be FREE and coming into your own. It is a beautiful thing! You be you, girl!!!

Man or woman, it's something that we all must eventually realize..... we need to be able to just be ourselves; and people need to accept us for who we are. So many people trying to tell others who they "should" be, and too many people trying to be who others tell them they "should" be. The problem is that we aren't caricatures..... we're human beings. Either accept us as a whole person or take a hike. There have been a lot of songs about men coming to that realization, but not that many songs about women doing so. And so, yes, this probably has become an anthem of sorts for women. I love the reaction...... and just be you, Amber. It's up to the rest of the world to deal.... it's not on you.

Man, that Impeach the President drum loop just shows up everywhere doesn't it? Along those lines -- not to be one of those people -- but I hope you manage to find some Golden Era hip hop on your listening list. I know you mentioned your Dad used to listen to artists like Slick Rick back in the day. That kind of stuff. It would also be cool if you could go back and listen to some of the songs that through their sampling and interpolation laid the foundations for so much hip hop music.

Hiya Amber, Now that...is how you fire into target. We're proud of ya. And on that note, we found out some biddies on this song that may interest you. - The Veterans of Hill 30 Brooks, who was 38 when "Bitch" hit (not 39 as some claim—born June 12, 1958), became a one-hit wonder in the U.S. but continued working in music. She’s produced for artists like Jennifer Love Hewitt and Katy Perry, and released a children’s album in 2007 (If I Could Be…). She sees "Bitch" as a turning point, not just for her career but for how women in rock are perceived. At the 2022 She Rocks Awards, celebrating its 25th anniversary, she expressed pride in its enduring relevance and encouraged new artists to “take it and make it their own.” In short, "Bitch" is more than a ‘90s hit—it’s a statement about identity, resilience, and breaking stereotypes, straight from Brooks’ own experience and voice. She’s called it her “resurrection,” and for many fans, it’s been just that—a song that keeps rising. Amber, this show, we made for you and all of the women out there who love rock and metal. This is our annual showcase of such female acts. It's our way of sending a Valentine's Day card like we did to the girls back in the GenX Era. So, if you ever want to live stream one of our shows, this one's it. SGT Rock's Headbangers Ball Episode 91-"Valentine's Day Massacrefest-Gorgeous Women of Metal 2025..." https://rumble.com/v6chzry-headbangers-ball-ep-91-valentines-day-massacrefest-gorgeous-women-of-metal-.html?e9s=src_v1_ucp From that week's video description: Our "Valentine's Day Massacrefest-Gorgeous Women of Metal 2025..." brings you all of today’s best female talent from the GenX era to today. The list of music our Metal Goddesses bring to the table can be described as only one thing: Magical. From the music GenX grew up with to the indicative music of today’s illustrious and beautiful offspring from the Metal Family Tree that were inspired, not just by the Metal Goddesses of GenX, but by bands that inspired them to bring us, the metal fan, the tunes we crave to listen to, the videos to watch, and the beauty these musical Valkyries lay upon our eyes. We hope you'll be our Valentine today. Keep your horns held high and that volume knob cranked to 11! -The Veterans of Hill 30

SERGEANT ROCK

I’m still amused that there are people who mistake this song as being done by Alanis Morissette. 🤦‍♂️ I remember this song came out in the summer of 1997. It was all over the radio and even then there were people skittish about the word “bitch” being on the radio. Didn’t seem to affect Elton John back in 1975 when he did “The Bitch Is Back”. Go figure. Some other song suggestions: -“Crush” Jennifer Page -“Sex And Candy” Marcy Playground -“Ice Cream” Sarah McLachlan -“Barely Breathing” Duncan Sheikh -“Black Cat” Janet Jackson

Check out some other great women vocals of the 90s: Garbage and Portishead!

Lauren Gray

Chris Orlando

Hallelujah Amber! Much love ❤️

Anya Middleton

I knew you'd love this song! The 90s was such a great decade for women artists giving their all. It was great watching you rock out to it!

Molly Campbell

The older you get, the less you care what people think of you. It’s a freeing feeling. March to the beat of your own drum!

Kristen DePizzo

We love you Amber. Great reaction. This song came out when I was in my 20s and I didn’t really pay attention to lyrics as much (and I still pay more attention to the music) but now that I’m a “grown up” I can appreciate this song and what it means to all women all over the world. Love all the Beatles stuff in the background by the way. I’ve been to Penny Lane. Now let’s get some more Beatles!

Michael

Also, can u do "I Surrender" the live in Vegas version? Masterclass vocals.

Drewcliff82

Ah the good Ole crazy lady song 😂🤣😅😂😂🤣🤣😅You have to love it though. 🐕 👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨 🥊👩 Bitch, lover, fighter, Mother.

Drewcliff82

Madonna's Human Nature was and still is my anthem. It's along the same line. Absolutely no regrets.

Rowan

Honestly you should love yourself! We do! This song is special to me because I was going through my first breakup and my friend took me out to a bar for the first time in my life to cheer me up and she dared me to sing this (knowing I knew it) I got up at the Karaoke station belted this out and fell laughing into a hug with her after. It made a bad day great just like you when I'm overwelmed or having a bad day and I come here to see you smiling and instantly feel better! To me this song is about female empowerment.

Melody Netherton

I know you’ve heard the song Woman by Kesha

Thomas Horton

Have you reacted to Helen Reddy‘s I am woman.?

Thomas Horton

The entire album "Blurring the Edges" is actually very good!! And you SHOULD like yourself Amber, you're awesome!!
