Spider-Man Question
Added 2025-02-27 14:43:11 +0000 UTCIf I wanted to have a quick Spider-Man moment, can the Toby Maguire films be watched now without affecting anything that’s going to happen in the Marvel universe?
Comments
Spider-Man No Way Home is kinda an unusual case...but you're absolutely right it can really get confusing... That's why the best order to watch the MCU in is by the date the movie or show came out...watch it in order based on that...it will mean going back and forth between watching a whole season of a show, then a movie, then a whole season of another show and so forth(the shows are only 6-8 ish epsidoes a season though). I think you can just go to wikipedia and get the *all* the mcu projects listed by release date. There's other places too if you just google it.

2025-03-01 22:27:32 +0000 UTCThis is where the mcu get confusing. You have to watch the old spiderman movies to understand no way home. In order to watch the next dr strange movie you have to watch wandvision, you have to watch wandavision and Mrs marvel before The Marvel's. You have to watch Loki and Hawkeye before the next antman movie. Captain america brave new world and Deadpool are even deeper rabbit holes

2025-03-01 13:39:04 +0000 UTCGotta Watch all the Tobey and Andrew films to get the full "No Way Home Experience"

2025-02-28 03:59:50 +0000 UTCDude I hope you’re kidding. She just finished the Infinity saga in 2 months. Thats a marvel movie every 2,5 days while doing some other movies and 5 shows in between. At her pace she’ll be done with the whole enchilada before you blow out 52 candles.

2025-02-27 23:11:09 +0000 UTCthey wont affect u at all because they are not technically part of the mcu. But would be good for u when u get to Spiderman No Way Home.

2025-02-27 22:17:58 +0000 UTCDefinitely watch those Spiderman movies to get the full experience in the 3rd tom Holland Spiderman.

2025-02-27 21:36:23 +0000 UTCIf I am honest, I think the Maguire Spider-man films are the best we've gotten of Spider-man by far.
Tim
2025-02-27 21:31:46 +0000 UTCYou can take a pause from the MCU to watch the Tobey Spiderman movies and then the Andrew Garfield Spiderman movies. They are self contained movies, but you will enjoy the next Spiderman 10x more if you watch those first.
JonnyFiver
2025-02-27 21:28:02 +0000 UTCThe Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield movies were made well before the MCU so watching them won’t affect anything about the MCU however Spiderman Far from Home references all these previous Spiderman movies that you really need to watch them in order to experience what the audience experienced watching Far From Home in the theater.
poul suero
2025-02-27 21:06:54 +0000 UTCYou should definitely watch the Maguire and Garfield Spiderman movies

2025-02-27 18:47:34 +0000 UTCThe first season with Jessica Jones was fantastic. Seems to be overshadowed somewhat by other Marvel efforts. The series didn't hold up so well with the later seasons sadly.
James Melton
2025-02-27 18:34:32 +0000 UTCYeah, you will definitely want to watch all 5 of the older pre-MCU Spider-Man movies before moving on to No Way Home 100%.
Stacy Davidson
2025-02-27 18:32:20 +0000 UTCYes. Remember that many of us had watched the earlier Maguire Spider-Man films before the MCU sequence you are watching. IMO, the Tobey Maguire 2002 Spider-Man is the best introduction to the character you will get other than reading a lot of old comics. Garfield does a good job with "The Amazing Spider-Man", but the tone of the films is different and less like the original comic character. Also note that his films overlap the MCU films.
James Melton
2025-02-27 18:31:33 +0000 UTCI agree, that the Toby Maguire Spidey films AND...the Andrew Garfield Amazing Spidey films would be a GREAT..."standalone" binge watch that will only AUGMENT...your Spidey experience in the MCU!!!🙏 And I'll take it a step further by saying with the Spidey experience by saying that those movies would contextualize and help your viewing of the award winning Spider Man fan favorite😍🥰 animated movie "Spider Man into the Spiderverse (2018) universe of films (1 & 2) the start of an impending trilogy...part 3 (2027)🙏 that also is a "standalone" from the MCU and is also not only a great adult viewing but a FAMILY..."watch" for those that want the FULL...Spidey experience. If you watch them...we will come!!!🙏👌👍🏾👏🏾😆🤣✌🏾

2025-02-27 18:24:00 +0000 UTCYes yes yes you have to watch those!! And Andrew Garfield's at some point!! You are going to love that 1st Toby Spiderman!!

2025-02-27 18:20:51 +0000 UTCOk, here is my attempt to create a more or less complete list of MCU (related) movies and a bit of explaination without spoilers. The goal of this list is to ensure you do not miss any references, cameos, or jokes in future films. The MCU nowadays is a bit weird because it merges older content from "other" Universes with new content. As a result, watching some of the Fox Marvel Universe, Sony’s Spider-Man, Venom, Deadpool, and so on is kind of important to fully grasp certain aspects of the newer films (e.g., Deadpool & Wolverine, which is now officially part of the MCU). The list mostly includes canonical stuff, although plenty of details are still debated among fans—so take it with a grain of salt. As far as my MCU knowledge goes, this list seems pretty solid to get everything (at least in theory). The “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” situation is a bit weird, but in my opinion, it’s a good show. Chronologically, it takes place between the first Avengers movie and roughly around Infinity War/Endgame (it’s complicated, so decide for yourself if you want to watch it). The original Netflix shows only slightly connect to the MCU (Except for Daredevil), so the order here mainly matters among the Netflix series themselves, which is reflected in this list. Maybe I missed some Miles Morales Spiderman stuff. I am not so much into that until today. I also left out stuff that is often considered non-canonical such as Runaways, Cloak & Dagger or Inhumans. So, here is my "watch order" (mistakes are possible): Iron Man (2008, MCU) The Incredible Hulk (2008, MCU) Iron Man 2 (2010, MCU) A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer (One-Shot) Thor (2011, MCU) Captain America: The First Avenger (2011, MCU) Agent Carter – (One-Shot) Agent Carter (Seasons 1–2, 2015–16, MCU) The Consultant (One-Shot) Marvel’s The Avengers (2012, MCU) Item 47 (One-Shot) Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Season 1 Iron Man 3 (2013, MCU) All Hail the King (One-Shot) Thor: The Dark World (2013, MCU) Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014, MCU) Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Season 2 Guardians of the Galaxy (2014, MCU) Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015, MCU) Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Season 3 Ant-Man (2015, MCU) Daredevil (Netflix, Season 1, 2015) Jessica Jones (Netflix, Season 1, 2015) Daredevil (Netflix, Season 2, 2016) Luke Cage (Netflix, Season 1, 2016) Captain America: Civil War (2016, MCU) Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Season 4 Doctor Strange (2016, MCU) Iron Fist (Netflix, Season 1, 2017) The Defenders (miniseries, 2017) The Punisher (Netflix, Season 1, 2017) Jessica Jones (Netflix, Season 2, 2018) Luke Cage (Netflix, Season 2, 2018) Iron Fist (Netflix, Season 2, 2018) The Punisher (Netflix, Season 2, 2019) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017, MCU) Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017, MCU) Thor: Ragnarok (2017, MCU) Team Thor: Part 1 (One-Shot) Team Thor: Part 2 (One-Shot) Team Darryl (One-Shot) Black Panther (2018, MCU) Avengers: Infinity War (2018, MCU) Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Season 5 Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018, MCU) Captain Marvel (2019, MCU) Avengers: Endgame (2019, MCU) Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019, MCU) Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Seasons 6 & 7 Spider-Man (2002, Sony – Tobey Maguire) Spider-Man 2 (2004, Sony – Tobey Maguire) Spider-Man 3 (2007, Sony – Tobey Maguire) The Amazing Spider-Man (2012, Sony – Andrew Garfield) The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014, Sony – Andrew Garfield) Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018, Sony – animated) Venom (2018, Sony – separate universe) Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021, Sony – separate universe) Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023, Sony – animated) X-Men (2000, Fox – original timeline) X2: X-Men United (2003, Fox – original timeline) X-Men: The Last Stand (2006, Fox – original timeline) X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009, Fox – original timeline) X-Men: First Class (2011, Fox – reboot timeline) The Wolverine (2013, Fox – original timeline) X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014, Fox – timeline crossover) Deadpool (2016, Fox – X-Men Universe) X-Men: Apocalypse (2016, Fox – reboot timeline) Logan (2017, Fox – alternate future) Deadpool 2 (2018, Fox – X-Men Universe) X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019, Fox – reboot timeline) The New Mutants (2020, Fox – standalone) Fantastic Four (2005, Fox) Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007, Fox) Fantastic Four (2015, Fox ) Blade (1998, New Line) Blade II (2002, New Line) Blade: Trinity (2004, New Line) WandaVision (2021, MCU – Disney+) The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021, MCU – Disney+) Loki – Season 1 (2021, MCU – Disney+) Black Widow (2021, MCU) What If…? Season 1 (2021, MCU – Disney+ animated) Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021, MCU) Eternals (2021, MCU) Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021, MCU/Sony) Hawkeye (2021, MCU – Disney+) Moon Knight (2022, MCU – Disney+) Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022, MCU) Ms. Marvel (2022, MCU – Disney+) Thor: Love and Thunder (2022, MCU) She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022, MCU – Disney+) Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022, MCU) Werewolf by Night (2022, MCU – Disney+ special) The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (2022, MCU – Disney+) Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023, MCU) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023, MCU) Secret Invasion (2023, MCU – Disney+) Loki – Season 2 (2023, MCU – Disney+) The Marvels (2023, MCU) Marvel’s What If…? – Season 2 (Disney+, December 22, 2023) Echo (Disney+, January 10, 2024) Deadpool & Wolverine (Theatrical release: July 24, 2024) Agatha All Along (Disney+, September 19, 2024) Marvel’s What If…? – Season 3 (Disney+, December 22, 2024) Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (Disney+, January 29, 2025) Captain America: Brave New World (Theatrical release: February 13, 2025) Daredevil: Born Again (Disney+, March 5, 2025) Thunderbolts (Theatrical release: May 1, 2025) Ironheart (Disney+, June 24, 2025) At the end I think it might be good to watch all of these in whatever order, because who knows, what will happen in the MCU future. If you want to keep up with the stuff you "missed" then it probably makes sense to cluster the different "universes" or production companies. Or make a whole video with all One Shots for example. Whatever you choose to watch, it will probably be a lot of fun! It is a lot to digest.

Melody Netherton
2025-02-27 17:42:15 +0000 UTCNot all the shows are required, In terms of the marvel shows there is only 3 you need, watch wandavision after spiderman far from home, then watch the falcon and winter soldier, then watch Loki season 1, then after eternals watch Hawkeye and finally after guardians of the galaxy 3 loki season 2, their are other series too but you don't need to watch them to understand the MCU going forwards and they are not as good
CloudyJ
2025-02-27 17:41:52 +0000 UTCyes and it will help you with understanding spiderman 3 no way home when you get there.

2025-02-27 16:02:57 +0000 UTCYes. It would be perfectly fine to watch the other earlier Spider-Man movies. They are important for future films without giving anything away. My favorite Spider-Man is Toby McQuire. Those movies are closer to how the comics are

2025-02-27 15:55:41 +0000 UTCSuggested viewing after Spider-Man: Far From Home MOVIES - [ ] Blade (just the first one) - [ ] X-Men (all of them, except New Mutants. 12 total, this includes Deadpool 1&2) - [ ] Spider-Man (3 with Tobey Maguire and 2 with Andrew Garfield) - [ ] Daredevil (2003) - [ ] Fantastic Four (2005) NETFLIX SHOWS - [ ] Daredevil (all 3 seasons) - [ ] The Punisher (both seasons) These 2 shows stories will be continued in Daredevil: Born Again DISNEY+ SHOWS This is tricky. As of right now there have been 10 different shows released. All of them are technically part of the MCU but to various degrees of relevancy. There’s also a serious dip in quality for some of them imo. If it was up to me I’d just let you watch Wandavision and Loki. Those 2 have a big part to play in certain upcoming movies.

2025-02-27 15:54:10 +0000 UTCAbsolutely you can watch the Toby McGuire movies first, in fact it may help you understand more as you delve deeper into the MCU Spider-Man movies as to what is going on.

2025-02-27 15:48:31 +0000 UTCHello Amber, hope you’re doing well. First thing first, I loved all of your reactions on Patreon. Now, to answer your question. I think this a good time to take a break on the marvel movies. You should go ahead and watch all the Spider-Man movies. They’re a treat and fun to watch. Afterwards, you may want to watch a few series like Daredevil (one of my all time favorite series),Wandavision, and Loki. Then you can start back on the marvel movies. That’s just my opinion. There are so many more series like Hawkeye, falcon& winter soldier, Jessica jones ect.., but It would be impossible to watch them all. But more power to you if you can watch them. Try this website to look at the order to watch the series and movies even though you already watched most of the movies on the list it’s still good to view the list. https://www.digitalspy.com/movies/a825774/marvel-cinematic-universe-in-chronological-order/ Hope this helps, and keep up the great reactions!!

2025-02-27 15:30:37 +0000 UTCI’d highly recommend watching the previous Spider-Man films starring Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man 1-3) and Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man 1-2). These films are how most fans experienced Spider-Man before watching the MCU films up to this point.

2025-02-27 15:22:54 +0000 UTCEveryone has generally voiced "yes". As you proceed through the MCU movies, the movies that came before the MCU will have connections. That includes the Spiderman movies, the Blade trilogy and at least two of the three more recent Fantastic Four movie (I think the last one can be avoided and definitely the super early Roger Corman directed one should be shunned!)

2025-02-27 14:50:19 +0000 UTCIf you have not seen those movies, and the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies, you kind of NEED TO stop and watch them before continuing with the next Tom Holland MCU movie. At least if you want your awesome reactions to keep landing with such great effect. We can’t say more without making spoilers. It’s important though. And TOTALLY worth the delay 😀😀. 2025-02-27 14:49:10 +0000 UTCYes, Toby Maguire films all came before the MCU was created. And the Andrew Garfield films, while released during the MCU's early stages, were unrelated. So they won't affect the MCU currently but are well worth the watch before the next MCU Spiderman.

2025-02-27 14:46:03 +0000 UTCYes, The BEST Spiderman!
Dan Heerdt
2025-02-27 14:45:49 +0000 UTCAbsolutely. You can watch all five Spider-Man movies without affecting anything, but both are required for Spider-Man 3 with Tom Holland.

2025-02-27 14:45:48 +0000 UTCThey came out BEFORE the MCU was even a thing
Mark Finley
2025-02-27 14:45:45 +0000 UTCIt’s not connected until later on. I’ll just leave it as that.

2025-02-27 14:45:36 +0000 UTCYes, you should also watch the Andrew Garfield Spiderman films as well
Mark Pickersgill
2025-02-27 14:45:32 +0000 UTCTo be honest, the Tobey and Garfield movies should be next, before moving on. 🙂
Mike Monson
2025-02-27 14:45:32 +0000 UTCWatching them now will pay off for you later.
Jayme LaFontaine
2025-02-27 14:45:25 +0000 UTCYou can still watch both Tobey's and Andrews
JESSEMLR1
2025-02-27 14:45:17 +0000 UTCYes, both those and the Andrew Garfield ones were made before the MCU, and we're reconned in later. But you need to watch them before the next Tom Holland Spiderman movie
Charles Allen
2025-02-27 14:45:16 +0000 UTCYes plus the Andrew Garfield spiderman films after Toby's:)
KisX3D
2025-02-27 14:45:13 +0000 UTCYes! But not just the Tobey McGuire films. You will also need to watch the two Andrew Garfield (the amazing spiderman) films. Now would be the perfect time and all five of those films are very important to have watched before the next mcu spiderman film (no way home)
MadeByMali
2025-02-27 14:45:07 +0000 UTCYes, you can watch the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies now. Also watch the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies. Also, you will need to start watching the X-Men movies sometime soon as well
Jason Walters
2025-02-27 14:45:04 +0000 UTCYes watch Toby’s and then Andrew’s after. Then you’ll be good to go.
Wxyz@73
2025-02-27 14:44:57 +0000 UTCYes, in fact I would recommend watching ALL of the Toby Mcguire, and Andrew Garfield Spiderman live action movies. They will eventually come into play in the MCU down the road for you in a future Spiderman movie.
Jayme LaFontaine
2025-02-27 14:44:55 +0000 UTCDefinitely. They play little to no part in the overall Marvel universe up to that point. They tie is later though on the next new Spider-Man film
Just Dave

2025-02-27 14:44:13 +0000 UTCJust don’t forget the Andrew Garfield ones afterwards as in the amazing Spider-Man
