2025-03-07 02:01:15 +0000 UTCAmber, welcome to becoming a Maggot (the moniker Slipknot has given their fans)! What a helluva reaction! You put it all out on the stage and left it there! Just like Slipknot does. GET SOME! The first time I'd heard Slipknot, I was in the rig heading to duty call in Mannheim Germany in 1999. Being buddies with the Air Force at AFRTS (American Forces Radio and Television Service) HMS (Heidelberg, Mannheim, and Stuttgart). "Hey Chris! What do you have that's new? No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. Slipknot. That's a cool fuckin band name, man. What's the song? Wait and Bleed? Oh, let's wake em' up, man! Play that! He did...right as I was pulling into Sullivan Barracks in Mannheim. My phone rings. "Bro! Are you trying to get me Article 15'd? Turns out that song wasn't cleared! WTF!?" "Oh? Well, blame Mike (Station Manager), that's his problem, not yours. "NOT MINE! I PLAYED IT!" "Yeah and he didn't tell you it wasn't cleared!" (He played the...um...uncensored version, whups!) "Well, we can't play that one anymore." "Yeah, you know you love me." "Get fucked!" And he hung up on me. He didn't get in trouble, much...I bought him a rack of German Dark Bier and all was well. I'm driving home....at around 1630. I call up the station, "Airmen Hartman, what's your request?" "Slipknot, Wait and Bleed. Play the censored version. I know you have it." She did... Mike, (Station Manager) calls me up. "Erick! Don't request that song anymore! It's causing havok here!" "Let me guess. Some Dependasaurus, right? Well tough. You want the frau to continue to give be the voice of HMS, you can tell your bosses to get fucked!" (My then wife was the voice of HMS, "Cooler than the other side of the pillow...You're listening to HMS, rock for the Rheinland.") Two days later, they played Slipknot's Wait and Bleed 7 times in 9 hours. It became the No. 1 requested song for 3 months. Yes, I'm the guy in 1999 that got Slipknot all over AFRTS radio in Germany! I was obsessed with Slipknot. I needed to know everything about them. I even got 3 sets of coveralls. One Black, Red and Orange. My number was "82" because I was on orders sending me to Fort Bragg, to the 82nd Airborne Division. And after that...if Slipknot came to town, we were there, if they were within 12 hours driving time, we saw them. And to this day, I still attend Knotfest. The beauty of this 9-man chaos machine is everything in it has purpose, from Clown's (5) Kegs to Zac Baird, new keyboardist and sampler, replacing Craig Jones (8) who departed in June 2023. So, with that said, I recommend anything off of their self-titled 1st release from Roadrunner Records (Slipknot) and my personal favorite on that record is Eyeless. Slipknot-Eyeless (Live) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHPjCFyu9VQ And on that Note..... We left this list on your Papa Roach Reaction as well....yet, with one more addition....Stone Sour. Corey Taylor's band he was in before he joined Slipknot. I suggest GET INSIDE as a starter. As far as Nü-Metal goes, here's some star music from our production notes from Episode 12 of SGT Rock's Headbangers Ball we did almost two years ago, and we added in a dash of Stoner Metal, some Post-Hardcore and Metalcore couple of tracks at the end you'll truly enjoy! Much love from the Veterans of Hill 30 Clutch-Electric Worry Helmet-Unsung Killswitch Engage - Rose Of Sharyn (I listen to this when I miss my Mother (God Rest Her) "I mourn for those who never knew you...." BRAND NEW STAIND-Lowest in Me From our 311 Triple Threat : Homebrew / All Mixed Up / Down Thornley - Come Again Black Stone Cherry-White Trash Millionaire Metal Hall of Fame Class 2025 - Life of Agony-This Time "Be Careful the Ones You Left Behind".... Dark New Day-Brother Limp Bizkit -My Generation System of a Down-Aerials Dark New Day-Brother Disturbed-Stricken Clawfinger-Truth (Swedish Nü-Metal) Linkin Park-Crawling Sevendust-Praise Union Underground-Turn Me On Mr. Deadman Powerman 5000-When Worlds Collide White Zombie-Black Sunshine (we suggest the video featuring Iggy Pop) Slipknot-Duality Mushroomhead-Solitaire Unraveling Saliva-Click Click Boom Godsmack-Awake Cold-Stupid Girl Crossfade-Drown You Out Nonpoint-Bullet With A Name Drowning Pool-Step Up Soil-Unreal (a personal favorite of ours) Coal Chamber-Loco Korn-Chutes and Ladders Deftones-Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away) God bless you and yours, Headbanger! We always knew after that first Metallica reaction; your DNA would be changed forever! Keep your horns held high and that volume knob cranked to 11, Amber! The Veterans of Hill 30

2025-03-07 01:44:49 +0000 UTCBoth bands should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But, their place is in the Metal Hall of Fame. Death is an OG in and Opeth is one of the most insanely awesome live bands I've ever had the honor to see! Their intricacies has them right up there with the greats like Dream Threater, Rush, Greydon, and Boston. Yes, I said Boston. As for Death, the pure delivery that sonic shotgun hit you with made all of us spit chicklets in the pit!

2025-03-06 19:15:03 +0000 UTC'what is happening?' You are hearing the SAUCE!!! I think you secretly love metal and are now realizing it. As a metal producer, I have a strong song recommendation. It's called The End Of Heartache by the band Killswitch Engage. A top tier Metalcore song. Metalcore is a sub-genre of metal. I think you will love it. And if you like that I can keep dropping singular suggestions to take you on the range of where heavy music goes, and without bias. I love everything heavy music related. From the poppiest to the most chaotic.

2025-03-06 17:30:09 +0000 UTCThis reaction was incredible Amber lololol. I'm happy you're getting into metal. Slipknot is one of the most commercially successful metal bands of the 2000s. They have the heaviness a lot of metalheads crave, but Corey the vocalist slips in some cool vocal melodies too, so it's got something for everybody. I would suggest Duality next by this band. It'll be perfect for you.

2025-03-06 14:38:07 +0000 UTCPeople=Shit might be their craziest most unhinged song of all time, that goes for the entire Iowa album which was their debut album

2025-03-06 08:57:53 +0000 UTCSounds like your ready to be a maggot ( that's what Slipknot fans are called), welcome to the club Amber. I suggest Duality next

2025-03-06 07:22:53 +0000 UTCWhile I’m not really into Slipknot, I do love “SNUFF”. Corey’s beautiful voice lends itself so well to the deep emotional lyrics. And since we’re on topic of Corey’s great voice, check out STONE SOUR “Bother”, his other band.

2025-03-06 04:18:44 +0000 UTCI knew you would love Slipknot! I knew it! The drummer Joey Jordison (RIP) was one of the best. Recommendations: Wait and Bleed, Duality, Before I Forget, and the live version of Spit it Out. These are all good starting points. Welcome to the Maggot club! RIP Paul Gray as well.

2025-03-06 04:18:05 +0000 UTCThe live version is best

2025-03-06 04:12:46 +0000 UTCThe lead singer, Corey Taylor is an amazing vocalist, maybe one of the best ever. His acoustic version of "Snuff" is a must-listen!!
