First Time Hearing 'Papa Roach- Last Resort' Music Reaction

Comments

Yeah, we definitely to help Amber discover Deftones (don't care what anyone says, they're not Nu Metal) , Clutch (pre-Elephant Rider Clutch), and I'd like to see her go into the underground L'Amour metal scene bands that were in A List rotation on Seton Hall's WSOU. Bands like Life of Agony, Biohazard, Warzone, 25 To Life, Dog Eat Dog, Sick of It All, Agnostic Front, Anthrax, just to name a few...I think she'd dig Bad Brains and Minnesota's The Replacements, The Suburbs, and Hüsker Dü. When it comes to Skatercore, Pennywise, Lagwagon, No Use For A Name, and I would love her to react to Seven Enemies by Hatebreed, In Ashes They Shall Reap, I Will Be Heard, and...of course Viking Metal from Blind Guardian, Slaughter to Prevail, Amon Amarth, Periphery, Brothers of Metal, Miracle of Sound, Tol Morwen, Mastodon, Any Given Day, Meshuggah, TÝR, Wind Rose, Manegarm, Grimner, and Orden Ogan, just to name a few. Amber! Grab your girls, go to a few festivals, document everything, and post a video journal when you return home! Festival experiences, man. Nothing like them. You'll be able to make memories you can share with your great grandkids! -SGT Rock

Roaches check in, but they don’t check out. 😉

I highly recommend "One More Light" by Linkin Park (live at Jimmy Kimmel tribute to Chris Cornell.) If you're a fan of both Linkin Park and Chris Cornell, this performance is an absolute must-watch.

I remember when this song was so popular. It was everywhere. All the time 😊 I miss this kind of music. Great reaction Amber. May I suggest "My own worst enemy" and " Miserable" by Lit

Your older brothers, based on what you have told us about their choices in music 100% listened to Papa Roach

Ken McEachern

Thank u. Been here several times but now I'll have time to check everything out. I'm living in Burlington and it's a really nice area (With my best friend and brother from the Army) and eventually I'm buying a home in NH, VT or ME (Way cheaper lol). Happy to be here though. Sometimes a change of scenery is all u need.

Shame it’s the ‘squeaky clean version’

As a plea I make to all music reactors, and I swear, it’s life changing for many. Listen and react to Jason Isbell. He’s the best Americana/Folk artist of our time, right up there with Brandie Carlisle and others. He’s never been mainstream but he plays huge venues. He must be the most unknown yet amazing artists ever. I mean, he even played the DNC this last year, but I don’t think anyone noticed. His lyrics are the best of the best and he’s an unparalleled storyteller. Just to name a few songs as suggestions, but I have to say, his songs vary in style and tone so much, that you’d have to listen to at least 6 or more to get an idea of his breadth. My. Personal recommendations are: Cover Me Up, If We Were Vampires, Speed Trap Town (might be my favorite), King of Oklahoma, Children of Children, White Man’s World, 24 Frames, Flying Over Water, Elephant, Traveling Alone, Last of my Kind, Something More than Free. The thing is, another Isbell fan could list another 2 dozen of their favorites, and none of them would be mine. He’s put out a lot at this point, and most of it is phenomenal. I will warn you that some of it is devastatingly sad, but most agree, they are better off for having discovered him. He’s seriously a national treasure.

I’ve visited a few times and my ship was in dry dock there for a while. Amazing city!

I'm not gonna be a metal elitist jerk and shit on this song. I think it's cool, but you're only just dipping your toes into the broad ocean that is hard rock and metal Amber. Bands like Metallica and Tool are supernovas in the Universe of the genre and bands like Papa Roach are more like white dwarfs, even though they were popular for the hit singles and extremely relevant for their time. You'll get more of a feel for the landscape of metal the more you listen, but if you want the scoop on that late 90s, early 2000s era where nu metal reigned: Linkin Park, System of a Down, Deftones, Korn, Slipknot, just to name a few. These are the bands with stellar discographies that'll be like Randy Quaid's Jelly of the Month club--the gift that keeps on giving. Just my two cents. I despise elitism and if you enjoy it, who am I to talk you out of that experience? Just know: it always gets better. LOL.

I'm sure Korn -- Freak on a Leash is coming haha. How could it not? The world shook when that video came out and it's in the same genre as Papa Roach. I'm excited though for Amber to check out Deftones. Deftones is what happens when metal gets a little sexy lol. Digital Bath would be great.

Scott McCumber

Evanescence is great. Amy Lee. What an icon!

Scott McCumber

If you like this, and you should, you should check out "I Was Wrong" by Social Distortion.

Jason Williams

Omg “we are, we are” just came into my mind. I completely forgot about that song until I just read your comment🤯

Heather

This came out my sophomore year of high school and I remember everyone getting their licenses jamming to this in their car with their systems and the banned LED lights flashing to the beat that plugged into the lighter jack (now they are used for phone chargers lol) such great times & Good memories to such a dark song lol Evanescence debut album came out a couple years after this, and is so amazing if you like rock music and love soaring vocals Evanescence first two albums are iconic

Heather

My teenage self is loving this! You should check out korn freak on a leash if you haven't. Or puddle of muds song blurry. Or evanescence call me when you're sober or going under......both great songs

Mel

Papa Roach - Broken Home. Less popular overall but a KILLER tune.

Presto2222

This is the music of my 20s. Hard to believe it was so long ago.

Tim

Try Tears for Fears, Secret World. My favorite song by them. From the start of the rain drop piano to the LUSH orchestra. Lyrics that are fun and playful. This is in my top 10 favorite songs, but hey! I'm a romantic that falls for a great hook and happy, fun songs....

Michael Akkerman

Taking me back to my high school years. Other 2000’s bands/songs that remind me of this time would be STAIND “For You” and P.O.D “Youth of the Nation”. And for a late 2000’s band, BLUE OCTOBER “Hate Me”.

Patty Estrada

Going way back a powerful song you should listen to is The Jim Carroll Band's "People Who Died". released in 1980,

Jeffrey Paradysz

If you really liked the song, you should check out what Falling In Reverse did to it! itd be a god intro into that band if you hadnt heard them yet!! (they also pull good views for reaction channels on youtube lol)

David

Another great band I don't think you have reacted to is Korn. Start with "Freak on a Leash".

Andrew Ramos

Welcome to Boston!

Meryl Lim

SCARS would be the next one Amber. Respectfully id do the studio video FIRST. Drew is not wrong... once you hear that song.... its amazing - the live acoustic version... - Scars hands down. First band my 16 yr old daughter loved that I love as well. I heard it on her playlist and got worried at first... then had a talk... they are POWERFUL and with deep emotional lyrics. She's her dad... lord help her.

Scott

I miss the 2000s music videos so much! Lol

Chris Mcbrayer
