Reflecting on the words that were mostly forgotten brings back some memories that were perhaps best forgotten? Best love to you and comfort for your hurting heart. J

2025-03-13 23:19:47 +0000 UTCAh yes, life in my hometown back in the day. Netflix did a show that, sadly, ran only one season. "The Get Down" was set in the South Bronx in the 1970's, at the time when hip hop was still just in underground clubs. Grandmaster Flash was an executive producer, and an actor portrays him in the show as a sort of mentor/guru to the main protagonist. The protagonist is the exact age I was at that time. Really interesting view of the infancy of the genre

I'd be interested to see what you think of some more modern hip hop though, specifically Kendrick Lamar (the king) and some of his classic tracks like Money Trees, Swimming Pools, Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe, Alright, King Kunta, Wesley's Theory and so many more. He's spectacular and he's from the same neighborhood as Tupac (Compton, CA). Keep up the awesome reactions Amber and way to diversify your music-related content!

Amber it's so evident how much you love your Father, being a Father to one Daughter myself I pray she always loves me this way. As for "The Message" it is just as relevant today as it was when it was written in 1980. It is still a powerful message in every sense of the word!
