Grand Master Flash and The Furious Five- The Message (Music Reaction)

Comments

Reflecting on the words that were mostly forgotten brings back some memories that were perhaps best forgotten? Best love to you and comfort for your hurting heart. J

Ah yes, life in my hometown back in the day. Netflix did a show that, sadly, ran only one season. "The Get Down" was set in the South Bronx in the 1970's, at the time when hip hop was still just in underground clubs. Grandmaster Flash was an executive producer, and an actor portrays him in the show as a sort of mentor/guru to the main protagonist. The protagonist is the exact age I was at that time. Really interesting view of the infancy of the genre

Classic 80's hip hop track. Influenced millions of people. Cool to hear it has sentimental value for you. I'd be interested to see what you think of some more modern hip hop though, specifically Kendrick Lamar (the king) and some of his classic tracks like Money Trees, Swimming Pools, Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe, Alright, King Kunta, Wesley's Theory and so many more. He's spectacular and he's from the same neighborhood as Tupac (Compton, CA). Keep up the awesome reactions Amber and way to diversify your music-related content!

A 'Faghag' is a straight woman who hangs out with gay men. Many wonderful friends in my lifetime. Peace & Love.

This was so sweet! I am so happy you found this song so now you can have this full circle memory experience whenever you want 💕❤️💕 I almost thought you were going to say you recognized it from that one guy (who we don’t mention his name anymore 🫣) and Mase.

Such a beautiful reaction......it's amazing how our memories no matter how deeply tucked away can resurface through music!! Amber it's so evident how much you love your Father, being a Father to one Daughter myself I pray she always loves me this way. As for "The Message" it is just as relevant today as it was when it was written in 1980. It is still a powerful message in every sense of the word!

That moment as a 53yo👴🏾 you realize you witnessed the birth of rap and hip hop on "wax" with The Sugarhill Gang as my first "wax album(1980)😱🤦🏾‍♂️ I'll be waiting over here for the "Beat Street"(1984) movie reaction that records the birth of "break dancing" that no other reactor has reacted to.🤔😉😆👍🏾 THANK YOU AMBER!!!🥰✌🏾

This reaction made my soul smile. When you started singing along to it and tearing up. I was a goner
