2025-04-02 01:53:08 +0000 UTCPlease understand, I am a huge Elvis fan!! I have heard almost every song he has recorded, I have watched every movie he has starred in at least once and some several times! With that said, my only criticism of Elvis is that from my research he never wrote a song that he performed but in all sincerity, he didn't need too!! When Elvis did a song, it usually became his song and this song is certainly no exception!! I have heard this song covered by a ton of artist, Hell I can even mimic Elvis voice but NO ONE and I mean NO ONE can convey the heartfelt emotion and conviction that Elvis gave us when he recorded this beautiful Classic! Even though the song was taken from a French love song composed in 1784 by Jean-Paul-Egide-Martini and Elvis recorded the common version on March 23rd 1961, it is just as fresh today as ever!!

2025-03-22 05:00:27 +0000 UTCI remember UB40’s cover of this coming out in 1993 when it appeared in the movie “Sliver” (1993). The movie was ok, but it was when Sharon Stone was at the peak of her popularity. The music video was on MTV all of the time. As for Elvis, I think there has been a lot of misinformed spread around him in recent years. He was certainly flawed and deserves criticism for certain things he said and did, but to deny his greatness is simply dishonest. Elvis was and is an icon. A star. To use a cliche, the type of guy who could light up the room. He was a mediocre guitar player and not much of a songwriter, but the man could sing and was one hell of a performer. One of the greatest what if’s is what if his identical twin brother, Jesse Garon, had not died. We might have had the Presley Brothers. Or maybe Jesse might have passed on music. Fun fact: the character of Uncle Jesse played by John Stamos on “Full House” was based on Elvis’s twin brother because Stamos is a huge Elvis fan.
