Loki S1 E5 'Journey Into Mystery' Full Length

Comments

My favorite variant is President Loki. I higly recommend the trade paperback of "Vote Loki" if you ever get curious and need a good laugh.

In the Marvel Comics universe, Enchantress, whose real name is Amora, is an Asgardian goddess known for her magic and her association with Loki. I think the writers drew upon this character in their creation of Sylvie. When I first saw Sylvie, I immediately thought she was the Enchantress.

It's more fun if you know: several of the Loki variants we meet here are taken from the comics. Classic Loki - The older guy with the impractically large golden horns. That's THE classic Loki outfit from the '60s and 70's. Kid Loki - Hard to explain this one without getting deep into the weeds, but in 2010, Loki manipulated a couple of super teams into attacking Asgard. The Sentry was a member of one of those super teams and Loki underestimated the power of that guy's dark side (you'll meet Sentry and his other half in Thunderbolts*) Anyway, Loki switches sides at that point and got himself killed. But because he'd previously tricked Hela into removing his name from the Bookof Hel, he didn't stay dead. He got reborn as a child with no memory of his adult past. Lots of adventures as Kid Loki -- he was around in the form for almost ten years. For a time he was a member of the Young Avengers. (Young Avengers may or may not be a future MCU movie. It was teased in a post-credit scene for Marvels, and to 100% get that post-credit scene you're going to want to watch both the Ms. Marvel series and the Hawkeye series before seeing Marvels.) Vote Loki - There was a four-issue miniseries in 2016 satirizing the Presidential campaign, where Loki runs for President of the United States. That miniseries should be considered an alternate universe or timeline. Alligator Loki - No comic precedent that I'm aware of but it might have been inspired by "frog Thor." There have actually been two versions of "frog Thor" one of whom -- I'm not sure which, but Throg's variant code T365 is a reference to is a reference to Thor #365 -- makes an appearance in the Loki series. (1) In a 1986 comic (Thor #365), Thor was turned into a frog by one of Loki's schemes. (2) Walter Simonson was a popular writer and artist for the Thor comic from 1983-1987. In 2009, there was a "flashback" story in which one "Simon Walterson" was a man who'd lost his wife and child. He made a deal with a witch to speak to their spirits but was unable to pay her afterward. The witch cursed him by turning him into a frog for the rest of his life. Simon takes the name Puddlegulp and joins his new frog buddies in a war against rats. During the battle he meets frog Thor (from the 1986 story), who joins the fight against the rats armed with a tiny Mjolnir (frog or not, Thor is still Worthy.) By the end of the fight, a piece of Mjolnir's handle is chipped off, a piece that Puddlegulp is able to lift. Thus he becomes Throg, Frog of Thunder, with his own hammer and a copy of Thor's classic costume! https://cdn.marvel.com/content/1x/throg-pet-avengers-origin.jpg
