I saw Duran Duran with David Bowie in the 80s, they were amazing, I don't know if you have checked out some more of their early stuff like Planet Earth and Carless Memories, both definitely worth a listen.

2025-05-17 19:55:59 +0000 UTCI've been in love with Simon LeBon for 40 years. That face. That voice. That sense of humor and fashion, and by all accounts, a stand up fella. The sounds you're wondering about are synths with masterful sound loops. How about some newer Duran Duran? 40 years and still great! Tonight United, Invisible are both great songs from their 2021 release Future Past, and they released a Halloweenie vibe album...last year? 2023? Danse Macabre - it's got covers of Spellbound by Siouxsie, Psycho Killer by Talking Heads, Evil Woman, Ghosttown by The Specials...Black Moonlight is a fun original song on the album. I also love "dark" Duran - The Chauffeur, Friends of Mine, Careless Memories, Seventh Stranger, all bang-a-gong.

Outside of drums, guitar, and bass, basically everything else you hear musically is done by Nick Rhodes on the synthesizer. He is a master and known for being very experimental to create unique and wonderful sounds. I have to admit I was quite disappointed you had your eyes closed for so much of this amazingly beautiful video shot on location in Sri Lanka. It was very popular on MTV and other video channels in the early/mid ‘80s. Yes, Duran Duran was very much a New Wave band in the ‘80s, after starting out as New Romantic. They have also done Rock, Funk, Dance, Disco, etc. and have released new music in every decade since the ‘80s including last year. 🥰
